Got a question, why do two diffrent companies sell the NSX, and why does the Tickford XR8 Falcon Racecar doing in the Tickford company, it says Ford all over it,

Just wondering...

Tickford is the 'tuning' and special vehicle part of ford, and Acura is the american honda, whilst honda is japanese.

You're looking at two effects here:
1. The fact that Japanese volume car makers use separate names in the US and some European markets, hence Toyota and Lexus are the same company, as are Acura and Honda, and Nissan and Inifiniti.

2. In some instances, heavily modified cars are referred to primarily by their modifier's name. In the case of Porsche, who did not sign up to GT3, and Ruf, who modify Porsches, did, all Porsches in the game are referred to as Rufs. Also in this light, there are several Mugen and Spoon Hondas. The Tickford Falcon falls into this category also.

Oh, I just thought Tickford was the name Fords were sold under in Australia.

Porsche is licensed to EA Sports so its not like they just didn't "sign up".

Acura is a brand made up by Honda so that their luxury cars would appeal to upper class buyers, who didnt want to be driving the same "brand" as their pimple faced teenagers rusted out 1984 CRX HF economy car.

I am very dissapointed that the NSX is sold as an Acura because I believe that it is unquestionably Honda.

The only cars that are truly Acuras are the TL,CL,RL,MDX.

One time I saw an old Japanese guy at my university driving a white NSX and he had Honda emblems on it.

It has also recently become pretty popular to put Honda badges on Integras, I have now seen countless "Honda Integras" here in Canada.

if you search ( ) i started a thread on the difference between the Honda and Acura NSXs / ITRs. informative.

I'm just bored and wanted to add something....I think Infiniti is the American/luxury version of Mazda, not Nissan......but meh, i guess i could be wrong. =P

No, Infiniti is made by Nissan.

I dont think Mazda has a luxury "brand" but who cares, Mazda is not unique or interesting in any way. They dont have a reputation for anything really, they are boring and the people in charge of the company have been playing it pretty safe for the last 6-7 years.

I would challenge anyone that says Mazda is a more than average company. They are not, and you are just fooling yourself.

Mazda Sucks....

No, thats an XR8. That particular car was in the Aussie V8's series about 2-3 (maybe more/less) and thats wayyyyy before the TS50 came out, and the TS50's havent even been brought into the Aussie V8's (yet)....

Well, Mazda currently sucks, well basically, here are the only good Mazda's. (I am not including race cars)

1st generation Miata (the one with the stiff chassis and arguably the most modifiable 4 cyl under 2.0l in the world)

The 3rd generation RX-7, The chassis was good, it handled well, it had good power but the rotary is not the best design. I am confident that the RX-7 would be a better car if it had a Turbo 4 cyl or turbo 6 cyl, but I am glad it didnt because the rotary is a cool concept, and it makes it unique. The 2nd generation RX-7 is not bad, but my friend owns one and they were nothing more than Mazda's attempt to cash in on the Porsche 944's overwhelming sales.

I even read a quote in Road and Track 1991 when the 2nd gen RX-7 was announced to be evolved into the 3rd, a head honcho at Mazda said that they (Mazda) only decided to get serious with the RX-7 in 1984 after the unbelievable success of the 944. They, (and this is a rough quote) "wanted to see if they could get a peice of the 944's market with a similar but less expensive car, that could appeal to younger buyers and get some Mazda life customers" In other words, the RX-7 has no real identity other than to cash in on the 944's success with a "cheap" imitation.

But the Miata changed the world and brought back a car in the true "British" roadster style and made it appealing to everyone. As far as I'm concerned, the Miata is the only original car mazda has ever made, and even that was not completely original.

In Europe, Mazda did have a luxury brand. It was called Xedos (why do they allways have to use an X?) , but they didn't keep that very long and after a few years, the cars were sold as Mazda Xedos 6 and 9. The models did look a little better than the average Mazdas and they had more luxe, but to sell a lot of cars in Europe, you need a diesel engine (and a good one), or you fail. Lexus has the same problem, because 60% of the cars sold per year over here are diesel.

in the game, the RX7 LM was about the only Mazda i liked. in real life, the new MazdaSpeed Protege's are pretty *****in.. now selling with turbos--i test drove one the other day and the little bastard will sit and get..

Civic boy:
How much time do you spend here? You're not getting enough realworld time.

If you want to own a Lotus, study hard and stay away from video games.

Hey, CivicsRslow. I am studying hard (3rd year of law school)

I am going to be a criminal lawyer at my dads law firm so I probably wont make enough to own a Lotus Esprit (My annual salary will be around $250,000 and a Lotus Esprit is $149,000) unless I live in it or buy an older one.

My computer is right in the room where I am studying, so yah, I post alot, but there are people worse than me.

What kind of car do you like/own. Chances are, I like it too, because I like way more cars than I dislike.

PS I dont like Civics at all, mine is broken down, and when they are stock, they suck ass. Dont even ask me why I bought it, I just wanted a car that is faster than all but 4 or 5 cars sold in the world, and I only had around $20,000 to spend on it, so naturally I bought a Civic, because a guy at a performance shop here convinced me how easily it was to get Horsepower out of them and utilise their ultra lightweight.

If you were expecting some epic battle over why or why not the Civic sucks, you wont get it from me.

Man,
What is up with you? You write in your sig that you aren't rich, but now you say daddy owns a law firm and is hooking you up. I mean, who but daddy's boy would scope Jags anyway? You are obviously really itching to tell everyone about your money. I don't think I've ever told someone how much I paid for my car, then only if explicitly asked. I sure as hell don't go around talking about my salary. That's family business.
Also, you write that you hate your car, but that it's faster than all but four or five cars in the world? Do you not know who you are? Why are you always sit on the fence? First you say Mazda's suck, then you spend a page going through one's you like. I've checked this board for a while now and had you pegged as a 19 year old rich kid. I guess I was wrong about your age.

LOL. you ever heard of SVT???? Tickford is a tuner, just like mines, nismo, mugen, ralliart, etc. It has nothing to do with Ford other than tuning their cars. Tickford is like RUF and Shelby. They take good cars and make them better...hmm i sound like a Mazdaspeed advertisement. :D

Well, if I just said I had a Jag without saying the price, people would assume I bought it for a lot of money considering Jags are alot of money new ($89,000) But I bought it used for $23,000 and I didnt want anyone to think I had an $89,000 car.

I dont exactly hate my car, I am just frustrated that it is broken down and most regular Civics suck.

Also, $250,000 is not necessarily going to be MY salary, but I am just saying a ballpark figure for what the average criminal defense lawyer makes. If I was a commercial lawyer I would be making about $550,000-$750,000

My Dad also owns a small law firm, but the people who own some of the larger ones pull in around 3-4 million dollars a year.

These are all ballpark figures not something personal to me.

And when I dissed Mazda, I was dissing A) Their current model lineup and B) All but 2 of the cars they have ever made. So yah, in general Mazda sucks IMO, with the exception of 2 models.

I personally dont have much money, I am paying for half of my schooling. I work for 4 months of the summer as a truck driver and make $18/hour which I had to pass a course to get that kind of money. I also payed for all of my Civic and was given half of the money for the Jaguar, and it is still considered the families car.

It is true that there are only a handful of production cars in the world that are faster than 12.3 in the 1/4 mile and it is true that there are not many cars that you can buy/soup up for under $20,000 to go that fast. So those statements are facts not my opinion.

12 sec you got pics of your civic? my best friend has an 87 crx si and we are doing a b16a2 transplant in it.

No, I dont actually have a pic. But I should get one. I have a few I might be able to scan, but if I took a pic now, you would laugh...

there's one of those "Civic Wagons" (they're called RTs) parked in my school's faculty lot. man, that thing is UGLY!
how did you manage to get the AWD from one of those??

hehe!
sum1s got issues :p

yeah civics do suck, but who am I to talk, I have an astra :p (non "hotted up")

I prefer cars that have a little substance and/or style to them or uniquness.

eg: early model citroens like the 2cv or ds21.
but I am not into making cars fast anyhow :)

The reason in North America there is Acura and Honda is prestige. No one would pay big money for a Honda, so it sounds better if you tell people you drive an **Acura**(I'm important). Here in North America Acura=Honda, Infiniti=Nissan, Lexus=Toyota. Makes people feel more important if your car has a classier name, it's just marketing BullSh#t.
