Ok, so I read the following bits of information over the last couple of days.

- ca. 950 cars in GT5 (don't crucify me on "more than...", that certainly doesn't mean "a lot more than")

- 830 cars in GT Mobile that we know of, with under a dozen new ones compared to GT4. The rest of the 100 cars more compared to GT4 are more variations of known cars.

- ca. 70 cars in GT5P. If you don't count the "/Tuned"-cars, because they are simply tuned base models, and the ones that are there in GT Mobile that makes about 60 unique to GT5P.

What does that tell us...? Assuming that you actually CAN transfer all your cars from GT Mobile to GT5 that means there'll be a whopping 60 or so new cars we haven't seen yet? Is it just me or is that slightly underwhelming?

Over the last 4 years, what unique cars have come out that you think should be in the game??? I mean really, what kind of cars are you expecting? What NEW line of vehicles that was created over the last four years, is not already in the game?

But not all the cars in GT4 will be in GT5. They will have taken some out, like they have always done. A lot of the older generation games had multiple version of the same cars, which were phased out. Like we no longer get 5 R33 skylines, instead we get an R33, a couple of R34s and a few R35s, which i still think is pretty good.

'variations of known cars', well that doesn't mean they arn't new.

Using Nissan as an example again, when they released the 370z, thats a new car. The R35 GTR, is a new car. The newest BMW M3 is a new car. The newest Corvette which wasn't in GT4 is a new car.

Even the Enzo, aka the F60, is just a newer version of the F40. And the F430 is a newer version of the F360.

I'd bet theres at least 100 of these 'variations of known cars' in GT5 compared to GT4. You can't just discount them as new cars just because they are newer models. But remember, we have Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, koenigsegg(unconfirmed?) and more. GT4 had an excellent selection of cars, despite the ones missing from previous games. You can't knock GT5 because they havn't included that many more, because its a tall order, they have had to re-model every car from scratch in GT5, and look at the result so far.

GTPSP is lower graphically than GT5, and it was a sort of secondary project, and it will only include a few new cars because it could just recycle the models from GT3 and GT4. I'd say only around 600-650 of the cars in GTPSP will be in GT5

I hope they upgrade models to the current gen. For example, I wanna drive a new Audi RS6, not only the one from 2002.

I am really hoping we see some modern American muscle cars make their way in. I am going to be a bit disappointed if we don't get Dodge's SRT models of the Charger, Challenger, 300C, and Neon. I saw that they were not included in GTPSP. I'd also like to see the newest Mustang model, Pontiac G8, and is the new Camaro confirmed yet?

How do you now that? :odd:

The 2003 SRT4 is likely in being its on the GTM list but I whole heartidly agree there are some major omissions in the GTMobile list that I hope get rectified in GT5. Im still blown away there isnt a new Subaru Sti(non WRC) or the 2009/10 WRX sedan or wagon.

Speculation and estimates.

My point was, if they're only going to be used cars, the game will probably only have 1 or 2 models of each version, as opposed to 7-8 models of the same car from the same year. Basically the base Japanese manufacturers from GT games will have more of their newer models than their older models. As i said, just what i'm speculating, by no means am i right.

You should see how many older models were omitted, whole line of //M models from BMW beginning with M635CSi, E30 M3, E36 M3, E34 M5, E39 M5, what a wonderful cars! Many muscle cars are still missing like variants of Mustang, mighty 68 charger, Dodge Coronet Hemi, original Corvette from 54, many italian cars, older lambos and ferraris, maseratis, bugattis, cars from de Tomaso, wiesmann, lot of older british sport cars like original lotus super seven or MG, ariel atom, gumpert apollo, cars from silver arrow era in 30's from Mercedes, Auto Union, Alfa Romeo, B-Group rally cars leaded by Audi Quattro S1 and S2, newest RUFs, not speaking about whole huge line of cars from Porsche, from road cars, race cars, rally ones. So many formula cars from history, uphill racecars, V8 racecars from australia other than one Ford, old Nascar models from 50's till 80's and I could continue till sunday here...

Yep, nine-five-zero, sounds like a good amount to me

True, but it has been said by KY that not all the cars in GT PSP will filter into GT5, so that leaves some scope

- ca. 70 cars in GT5P. If you don't count the "/Tuned"-cars, because they are simply tuned base models, and the ones that are there in GT Mobile that makes about 60 unique to GT5P.

Yep, but remember, of tht 70, are some cars that were also in GT4, i.e. Clio V6

What does that tell us...? Assuming that you actually CAN transfer all your cars from GT Mobile to GT5 that means there'll be a whopping 60 or so new cars we haven't seen yet? Is it just me or is that slightly underwhelming?

Nope, I think its a good amount, plus I do feel that PD will have updated a fair few models.

Yep, but remember, of tht 70, are some cars that were also in GT4, i.e. Clio V6
Renault Clio V6
Mazda RX-8
Mazda RX-7
Nissan 350Z
NissanSkyline R34
Dodge Viper GTS
Ford GT
Ford Mustang (although the '07, GT4 had the '05)
VW Golf IV
VW Golf V
Alfa 147
BMW Z4
Honda NSX (Acura in GT5P)
Honda NSX Type-R
Honda Integra Type-R (was it in GT4? Cant remember)
Suzuki Cappuccino
Daihatsu Copen

What else?

Number of cars underwhelming? Almost 1000 cars? I don't really think that's underwhelming...

WHICH cars they are? I suppose that could be a dissapointment especially depending on how much of a gearhead you are... personally I am not a huge one so if it lacks the last few years newest models it doesn't bother me much, might feel a bit dated but who knows...

Brings up some interesting questions about how many cars there are out there... also makes me wonder if they are going to licnense some of the mroe obscure Chinese and Indian makers... would be kind of cool

But not all the cars in GT4 will be in GT5. They will have taken some out, like they have always done.

Fact: You can take your cars from GT Mobile to GT5. Not just some...all. That has been confirmed by PD afaik. Now check the car-list of GT Mobile and compare it with GT4. They are almost identical. That means all are included in the 950 GT5 will have. As a matter of fact, the only cars that are new in that list are the ones we already saw in trailers. (Veyron, Enzo, 2 Countachs, R8 LMS Race Car, Corvette ZR-1, Mazda Furai, GT-R V-spec, maybe 1 or 2 others I missed, just look at the year's numbers, there's almost none after '05)

That means that in the time between Prologue and GT5, they have made just about as many cars as for Prologue. I'm not impressed. Unless they are holding back a lot of surprises.

What do you mean made just about as many cars in prologue? did you not hear KY say that GT5 is a completely new game, that they had to work it all the way from ground up?

That means all those 950 cars (no matter if they were in previous GT's) had to be re modeled. They can't just take the cars straight from GT4 and put the resolution up.

950 cars is an amazing feat and even if most of those cars we've seen before all of them are re-modelled specifically for the PS3 and have a new graphics and physics engine to work with.

I could name a ton if you would like. Both race cars and street cars. The bottom line is that for a game that comes out in 2010, we shouldn't only have 15 cars from 2006 to current. There have been a multitude of significant and awesome cars that have come out or been updated in the last few years.

I do believe that PD will pleasantly surprise us with some awesome new additions to both the manufacturer and model lists.

How about the cars in GT5P?

Some of those weren't in GT4, ex. Evo 9, BMW 135tii, Ferrari 512BB, etc.

I am just hoping for more recent versions of some cars.

If 95% are from previous games and older than 5 years. Yep, pretty much. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure GT5 will be great no matter what, and I'm sure I'll spend ridiculous amounts of time playing it, but I was just struck by how little they apparently plan to add. My shortlist of cars currently produced that I wish would be included is about as long as the difference between 950 and the cars from GT Mobile & GT5P that we already know about. And that list does only include the top range model of each type. The last thing I want is to yearn for a car list from Forza (note: I said 'car list', not 'game like' :sly:). What was it they said...29 Ferrari models alone? Hope GT5 can compete with that, if there's only, say, between 50 and 100 new models.

Since when? That has never been confirmed. All PD have said is that you can transfer cars, they never said whether it would be all or not.

If you discount all the duplicate cars in GTPSP, and discount all the duplicate cars in Forza, GTPSP is not far off. Theres so much fuss about the lack of new cars in GTPSP, well thats because they recycled old models from 3+4 (i think, wouldn't be hard to convert)

But GT5 is from scratch, they would have been stupid to just re-model EVERY SINGLE car in GT4 before they started on new content. It would have been a complete waste of time.

I stand by what i said before, only around 4/5 of the cars that were in GT4 will be in GT5, they will have cut out come of the duplicate models of Skylines from the mid 80s etc.

I think any car that is in GTPSP and not in GT4, i would regard as confirmed for GT5 too. Anyone got a list of the newcomers to GT for GTPSP?

830 + 50 (dropped 20 for cars in GT5P that were in GT4) = minimum of 70 new cars...

Say 30 of GTPSP where new - so I make that 100 new cars...

I can see your point - but I also think that nigh on 1000 cars is pretty damn impressive though!!

C.

950 cars is brilliant-i still remeber being completely blown away when i heard gt4 would have 500 cars and im not even gonna mention when it came out with 720 odd!!!!!

Agreed. However, even though most cars are just cars fro GT4...back when they were in GT4 they werent in HD,never had cockpits,or realistic damage.. WOOOP!

OH...70 new cars. ALL THE NASCARS,and all the 2009 WRC cars are gonna take half of those 70 spaces up....fuuuuhhhkk

On whose planet is 950 cars underwhelming? That's a huge number.

I think what the OP means is that what he thinks the car selection will be is underwhelming, but as we don't know the car list, we can't say that yet.

Oh boy, gt5 gets the 830 psp-crap and a few more.
yeah, I was thinking that as soon as the psp list came out, and I saw that the new FIAT/Abarth 500 wasn't on it. It's been out for years, and it's not like there aren't FIATs in the game. so, where the heck are the new cars?
I'd really hoped I'd be able to start the game out with one of those.

maybe we get the stale gt4 cars for free right off the bat and have to wait even longer for the new cars to be released as $DLC$.
Right now I'm through with assuming more than the bare minimum from PD. GT5 car selection doesn't look hot.

Well, I guess this thread shows a lot the reason why GT gets so much criticism. The expectations people have about it are too unreasonable, and nothing will please them. I believe the game that comes closer to GT5 in terms of cars is Forza 3, and it has less than half, and yet, people think GT5 doesn't have enough. Go figure...

The thing is in GT5 car list vs FM3 car list is FM3 doesn't have 70 odd skylines and MX5's out the wahzoo.

While FM3 has 400+ which is less then half of GT5, when you take the repeats of the exact same car but with some stupid "factory upgrade" both games would have roughly the same amount of cars.

What I am trying to say is the FM3 carlist has a higher ratio of unique cars compared to GTPSP (which will likely be the same as the GT5 list) which just has too many copies.
