Did anyone else have trouble golding the 2nd part of the beginner Nurburgring challenge? It took me over 4 hours to get the gold, with a couple of lap times just .01 seconds away

I managed gold on it as well after a lot of goes seriously tough. Got beginner first 2 gold and intermediate first 2 gold now. Dreading the rest especially the full lap.

Haha, same. I've only golded the first two on beginner, haven't attempted the others yet. It was ridiculous how long it took. I think that last corner was trickiest since it had a decreasing radius. I had a couple gold-time runs which I butchered in that corner

The SL isn't fast enough for gold SLS on the other hand was great! All gold with the SLS.

I was wondering, how do you unlock the ring ?

I loved the SL. I beat the gold time for one lap by over 10secs in the dry and over 20secs for the wet.

I got Gold on all Beginner and Intermediate except for the full laps. But I only tried those twice, so if I put in the work, it will happen, I was just too tired to keep playing.

Sorry, I didn't save my replay. I could drive it again and upload the replay that to show you, but it'd probably be a tenth or two off from the gold time (don't have the patience to do it again haha).

I've played all the races on the Ring that were in GT4, including all the endurance races, and I still can't get gold on a full lap.

While I usually don't care a lot about getting Golds on challenges or license test, as I just prefer racing, I'm highly motivated to get everything golded for the AMG Academy, because it's all about the 'Ring.

Got Silver on my first attempt. Right now, I'm less than a second away from golding it. No rest until it's done!

I golded all of them first try apart from full lap intermediate. Its definately worth putting in the extra time to try and get gold as i got the ring with night only in the dry, its awesome. Gonna try the third set of AMG challenges tomorow. Looking forward to it!

Good advice for conquering that last few seconds & The Ring

....also, turn traction control off (or set to 1), and try shifting gear up just before rev hits red zone if driving with manual transmission (as shown in the Demo in each test). Seems to work for me juicing that last few .00x seconds for Gold in the SL (still it took me many hours).

Intermediate challenges were easier with SLS...more about self-discipline in controlling the car's power & staying off the grass.

At least the car was drivable, unlike the Top Gear track cars. I hit silvers, not even going to stress out on getting gold until Im really bored some day in the distant future. I was happy to just get Silver, the Nurb has always been my worse track.

I've golded all SL300 challenges and it was not easy, but once y'all golded the sectors the main thing is done because the full lap is the easiest challenge. You've got plenty of time so you don't have to drive agressive, it's just about being conzentrated the whole time and not making any mistakes.

Tricky Spots: 2nd sector, last corner. It's the kind of corner I really hate (decreases radius) and you have to be careful here. Hit the brakes when your line is red and not later, then be patient with the gas throttle. To get the gold time, you have to come out quick of that corner.

Another tricky spot is the 2 very last corners, be damn careful because you'll enter with full speed so let it roll a bit and use the breaks. These corners are not very difficult (if you can control the speed), but you come off that long straight where you have a lot of time to think and if you have a gold run you get pretty nervous. It's a mind thing, so calm down.
I destroyed 2 gold runs with those corners.

I was so awesome on the 'Ring in GT4, but I'm getting a 7:10-7:15...

Split at Aremberg - 1:22ish
Split at Kesselchen - 3:35ish
Split at Antoniusbuche - 6:45ish

Whats your gold lap split times here?

Edit: Just been getting the times down, just done a 7:05.563... Half a second to find. This is intense!!!

I gave up on getting all golds on the beginner, only managed the first one as gold.

The intermediate on the other hand I have all golds except the full lap I only got silver. I also found out that you can cut the track and you don't get penalised at all :S. Sector 4 after the straight u can just go straight through the S bends (braking though otherwise youll fly into the sand pit) and cut like 3 seconds off your time LOL

Beginner level on the AMG Event was really, really cool.

Intemediate, with the 2010 SLS? Crapped my pants (nearly) with the speeds it can throw out. Fun but scary at the same time.

I'm all silvering everything 'cos I'm an old fart, but this has been by far my favorite challenge, and I haven't even done the intermediate yet it's all about unlocking the Ring, then unlocking the RUFs somehow so I can get one and go play

Check the used car dealership...I picked up a RUF 3200 there very early on.
