Nurburgring 24h Circuit 75 Lap Challenge!

Should the laps be reduced to 75?

This is interesting to me. I'm not sure I'm ready for another long race as I just finished the 24 heures Du Mans A-Spec by myself. Yeah I stopped it/paused several times but it's a long race none-the-less.

A few questions.
Seems as though the date has changed a few times.

March 20? Isn't that a Sunday?
Why wouldn't you do it on a Saturday. I would guess more people are available Saturday than Sunday. Sunday is usually family/church/racing/sports day of some sort.

The PP system is broken if you ask me. For example: Take a Charger RT race modded with all the extra mods/upgrades and look at it's PP. It's HIGHER than the Super GT cars. Sure it's got more HP but could it do a sub 6-minute time around the ring like a Super GT car can? I highly doubt it. That's just ONE example of the PP system failing.

I have seen/been in some fun PP races but it's usually non-race cars at a much lower PP.

HP/Weight typically works but then you run into 8 people using the one car that has the advantage at whatever particular weight you choose.

I'm interested but not fully committed. I'm going to try to find someone local that wouldn't mind doing the 10hr grind with me. It'd nice to be able to take a small break to be fresh.

I know you've already got a schedule but for reference my days off are Wed-Thurs-Frid-Every-other-Saturday. I work every Sunday and it costs me 12hrs of vacation time if I take it off...so I doubt I'll be doing that for a GT5 race.

I'll be following the thread. This looks interesting.
 
I'm not controlling this now, but you have some really good points Walter. I also think that I could participate in this race, actually, but it seems like a hassle.

Also, I will send GrahamTurismo some of the cars before March 3rd. It won't be all of them, but just the ones I already have.

We may never understand how PP is determined, but that's the beauty of it... that you can have a lower PP car beat a higher one based on handling. The PP limit will be what it is (still undecided, probably around 600) and if someone chooses a car that isn't suited for the Nürburgring and can't keep up with all the corners that is their problem.

As far as time and date, it's up in the air at this point. It will most likely be a Saturday, but I am pushing it back to May or June which is closer to the real 24h race @ the Ring. That should allow for more interest to build up so we can make sure we have a nice full 12h race.
