To be honest it's actually even better then I thought it was, some weird lenscrafting going on in the Vette video.
The only issue I see is the colors look almost unnaturally bright in GT5, which I imagine change depending on the season.

Yes. The Vette has the camera mounted close to the rear window and is zoomed in, hence the funky view.

As for the bright colours in GT5, switch to 'Nordschleife - change weather'; when it's overcast, it looks almost natural.

First time through the caroussel i took the "high" route, as i looked down to the inside of the corner i asked myself "are people really taking that part?". Second lap i took the corner as it should be taken.

If you're living near the Ring, go there and drive a few laps. Great fun and scary as well :nervous:.
And if you're not living near the Ring ... go there to ;)

Here you go:

EDIT: tree'd

Definitely shot with a tele, most likely the equivalent of a 85mm lens, which gives the same side-to-side field of view as the human eye but mildly compresses the perspective.

Interesting nonetheless, as it gives an excellent idea of the turn-in points and exaggerates the topo. As always the part between the Karussels is the most telling bit of the drive -- love how he nearly lost it on the mini Karussel.

Last summer i did 4 laps at the Ring. The first thing that suprised me were the elevation changes and the banking whose are higher and steeper compared to GT5, but not as the movie on page 1. That was precisley what I thougt when I drove the track IRL also.

The track in GT5 is "stretched out", the distances between corners feels longer in the game than the real thing. And as mentioned above the track is much, much more elevated.

In the Corvette video the track is a bit too much compressed IIRC, but more real than the track in the game.

If you learn the track in GT4, as I did. When going to the track for real, all you know is which way the corners are turning and the basic layout really.

None of the other things about driving it in-game are useful.

I couldn't drive the GT4 version anymore after driving the real thing because It was so wrong. I had a bumper-cam on the car when I was there and on that video it looks very much the same as the game though.
