Hello all and welcome to week 2 of the NRS!

*EDIT* Please see post 16 for this weeks vote results 👍

Week 1 is well underway and going strong so far 👍 , as you all know you have from now until Sun 23.10.05 9pm GMT+1 to vote for next weeks cars.

Once again send me your top 3 choices for the week and i will announce the results sunday when voting closes.

Remember no discussing votes on here just PM me your choices, and vote for the ones you want to drive, not the fastest or best according to others 👍

Following warm up week and week 1 we are looking at cars within the 151-200BHP range, there are no FR options for this week, instead we have some medium power FF and 4WD to try and also something else at the bottom.....

Onto the cars....

nrsweek2audi2vt.jpg

The Audi Quattro '82-155 BHP/TON
What can i say, rally inspired and proven 4WD car that feels great around the Ring, dont be put off by the weight this ones really good fun.

nrsweek2civic9ez.jpg

The Honda Civic Type R (EK '97)- 160.95BHP/TON
Lightweight, screaming Vtec + Nurburgring = ? You decide!

nrsweek2s7qk.jpg

The Mini Cooper "S" - 143.75BHP/TON
The big brother to the Mini One up for voting in warm up - i HAD to put this in, its that good...but again make your own decisions.

nrsweek2t168is.jpg

The Peugeot 205 T16 Road car '85-173.8BHP/TON
Another car with strong rally DNA peforms extremely well with great power and 4WD grip, could be a lot of fun.

nrsweek2fto3ib.jpg

The Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R '99-162.61BHP/TON
A surprise this one, Fantastic handling and such a sweet sounding motor, feels great around the Ring.

And now onto something else....Last week there was a car which impressed me so much with its ability i didnt want to put the controller down, there is a range of qualities that this car had which added up to such good times it would have destroyed the other cars and i didnt want that, with an oil change it just slips into
this weeks power bracket and deserves a crack at the 5 ive listed above in your testing and evaluation...if you dont agree with this then dont vote for it, simple as that. 👍

nrsweek2mr22et.jpg

The Toyota MR2 V edition '02 - 154BHP/TON
MR layout, usuable power, traction and gearbox, just excellent.

Feel free to test and evaluate if you have the time, cars were tested on N2s and N3s for reference.

The results will be posted sun 23.10.05 after 9PM GMT+1

Again all newcomers welcome to vote and join in 👍

best regards to all

Dave

Wow Dave I may have to pop in for this week, I've got my eye on a couple of those cars.....but time is of the essence isnt it? As I see your running three events there 👍 . So soryr if this has been answered b4, but is this gonna be an ongoing thing like the wrs or is it only for like 8 weeks?

Jerome

Great car choices, Dave 👍

You know I very much like the Toyota MR, but then I've also always been a fan of the FTO :dopey:

And then there's the Civic Type R, the cooper S,.... man,... Help! Great car overload  :p Will be very difficult I feel to pick a top 3

Really spoilt for choice this week!

I'll have to do some testing first for this one :D

I see a lot of cool cars to choose from 👍

This week I am actually going to have to test them. I can't come up with a selection just by looks/personal preference like I did last week.

I will be back in a few minutes and PM my vote...

EDIT: Voted...

The Wizard.

Hi Jerome, its a limited long race series, i see about 16 weeks total give or take the odd week (lots of folk want an SUV week...etc)

Imr running 3 events but to be honest my WRS has taken a dive and six of the best i just cant devote enough time to so may have to pull out. Takes up a lot of time doing something like this, but its worth it when even a few join in 👍

I wanna drive the MINI. Everybody vote for the MINI. OK. You know I've wanted one of these in real life since I first saw pictures from the various car shows. Found a great deal on a Focus SVT that I couldn't pass up. Besides there's no dealership in my area and I would've had to take the MINI 2-3 hours away had service been required....I think there are 3 Ford dealerships in town. About a month ago I finally had a chance to test drive an Cooper S and guess what...I like my SVT better. Admittedly the MINI is more "refined"...the shifting feels more precise, less engine noise (of course that's not necessarily a plus in my mind) but I believe the Focus can take that little booger head to head. They truly are very equal cars on paper Focus SVT = 170HP, Cooper S=163HP, I believe they've both actually got the same 6 speed tranny. I got alot more for my money too. With similar equipment the Cooper S would've cost about $7,500 more. Shame on PD for not putting the SVT in the game. All the Focus' in GT4 are in the USA Ford dealership but they're European models...the ST170 appears to be equivalent to the SVT on paper but it looks like crap next to the SVT. Hey PD....Forza's got a Focus SVT.

Anyway since the Focus is not on the short list this week vote for the MINI

NO DISCUSSING VOTES ON HERE GOIXOYE OR TRYING TO INFLUENCE OTHERS! 👎

With regards to the Focus i would be interested to see a pic of the SVT (is that for special vehicle team?), the ST170 was in my shortlist against the Mini and turned in a good time, not much in it really similar power and weight with the Mini just edging it, however the drive is very different, the Focus was hard work, went off too many times and it just felt too hard to judge the limit, the Mini on the other hand was more fluid and flowed from corner to corner, it impressed with its overall consistency and got in for that reason over the Focus, that by no means should be taken that the Focus is no good, i personally think the Focus is very good, but it was a close call and im trying to offer you guys the best and most interesting choices :)

Interestingly in real life i have also driven the Cooper S, myself and a friend of mine took his "S" to Lemans the other year and the drive down had to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life, we "bumped" into some guys from london with some lovely motors (911, 500BHP skyline R33, F355 spider, 2 x TVR cerbera's) and we drove down through france with them, the Mini was so good we actually kept up most of the way, following the Ferrari on the French autoroute at an indicated 140Mph was quite something in a 160BHP hatch :) We seemed to be on the redline for 6 hours and the car just shrugged it off completely, very impressive.

However the Mini is up against some strong competition for week 2....

I'm sorry Dave...I was just playin' around. Won't happen again. I doubt anybody really gives a rats @$$ about what car I want to drive anyway....it would probably influence the voting the opposite way. If you want I'll edit out the post or you can have it deleted.

If I can figure out how I'll post a picture or you could go to Ford's website and find your way to the SVT section...last I looked they still have info on the Focus even thought they're not making it anymore. SVT does = Special Vehicle Team.

The Cooper S is an interesting car in that it is one that actually has TCS and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) which I believe is like GT4's "ASM". I try to drive cars in GT4 the way they exist in real life when possible.

I wish I could've spent that much time with the Cooper S. But here in good ole Virginia, USA I have the Blue Rigde Parkway almost literally at my back door 👍 .

Its ok Goixoye no need to delete/edit, just i did request there to be no discussing of car choices on here :indiff: Please remember for future weeks 👍

Had a look at Fords website and yes its really similar to the St170, bigger bumpers and different wheels i think, still a lovely motor anyways :)

Interestingly the Cooper S was a bit of a handfull with the traction etc turned off, but i think thats cause with it on you tend to rely on it a bit, i prefer cars with no aids in game, unfortunatly in real life its getting more common with the safety police so hot these days..... 👎

My Focus SVT

This is a test of sorts to learn how to post pictures...looks like I may have figured it out. Please bear with me. In the first image notice the flag in the background....GO VT (Virginia Tech)

The rear mid-wing is an aftermarket part installed by me :) . Notice the license plate...why do some people scrubb that out of pictures?

Hey Dave maybe in the future there might be a week that the Focus RS could be in the line-up for voting purposes? 👍

in the grand scheme of things i'd rather have the RS than an SVT. ;)
but I can understand the frustration of your car being in the game; but not really in the game.
but yeah, the st170 is very similar to the svt... only since its the euro version the build quality is monumentally better.

but anyway; since this is apparently the foci thread now... i'll toss in mine.

You are in New York, USA (UTC-5) and want to know the time in Rome, Italy (UTC+1).

* First subtract your local UTC adjustment (-5) from the adjustment for the target location (+1) giving an adjustment of Local Time +6 (+1 - -5 = +6)

Ok thanks Wizard but wait til you hear it....think youll agree :sly:

Dave

whew, N3's... thats more like it 👍

as far as NTSC goes; the MR2 Spyder '02 from the toyota new car lot comes out to 191/980, so that should be our girl.

I'll be the first to post some T times then :D

T2 - 1'32.276
T4 - 3'04.153
T7 - 5'20.740
T10 - 7'26.119

Lost a lot between sectors 8 and 9 but managed to keep the lap clean

MR2 ... you're kidding me. What is it with you people on your convertible, small, spitfire-esque cars? That's 3 weeks running you've all voted for virtually the same thing; where's the variety? :grumpy:

Belive it or not this thing understeers!!

Anyway here are my settings, i find them quite nice.
112/118
5/10
2.5/0.6

Now for the T times :D
1'30.615
3'00.873
5'17.254
7'17.580

Lost some time at the karusell and a few other places. Hope to find a few more seconds yet 👍

Edit
Was up 3.3 seconds @ T9, but crashed after the mini karusell. Such a stupid crash too!!. OMG!! 👎 :grumpy:

Some slightly better sectors

1'31.425
3'03.075
5'19.547
7'21.644

I'll try this on the wheel tomorrow, gives you a sore thumb on the DS2 :grumpy:
