Hypothetical Question:

If PD were to ONLY include one real track being either Le Mans or the Nurburgring, which one would you want and why?

For me, it would be a tough call but I think I'd have to go with Le Mans...Simply for the history behind it....even though the Nurburging ring is longer....(not that much longer if I'm correct) and being probably the 2nd most noticeable track on the planet....IMHO that is!

So, what's your call?

EDIT: From the information I've found online, the track lengths for both courses are as follows:

N'ring: 14.2 miles
LM: 8.45 miles

The nurb, it has the high speed qualities of the Le Mans circuit AND very good corners..

And it has more history than the Le Mans circuit, unlike your statement... It doesn't go as far back, but certainly a lot has taken place there.

The Nordschliefe for sure.

Wanna know why? - Check out RUF's 'Faszination On The Nurburgring'.

After seeing 'IN CAR 956', old le man is very impressive, but the 'ring' is far more challenging.

The nurb. The idea of racing on a flat plain then a very high plain with a plethora of trees around you is so great for me.

Le Mans, simply because it wouldn't feel right to have all these cool group C etc. cars without Le Mans itself. Plus, so many good drivers from recent times have raced Le Mans, I just don't know about the Nurb. Seems like a bit of a ghost track.

I believe that Le mans is about 13 Km long or 8 miles long.

Nurb over Le Mans for me....however i do enjoy both tracks....i think Nurb is more technical and the setting definatly adds a mystique around it....as for the "Ghost Track," i beleive that it is a ghost track....the ghosts of the drivers who lost their lives racing on it do haunt it....if you've even been there on a cold, misty day it is a very somber place.

Nurd is not haunted.

bull man!!! i've been there and my friend took me out in his E36 on a cold misty morning and i swear to god i felt like we were being watched.....i kept feeling like some ghost would pop us in front of the car....trust me...i know somber scary stuff..i'm from Transylvania!!! seriously i am!!!!

I believe you were just on edge that day lol. Have there been sightings of ghosts or anything supernatural on the nurb? I'm aware of the the deaths there and I have wondered if the track was haunted. How's transylvania these days? Any race tracks there?

Without the history there wouldn't even be a Nurburgring

I voted the 'Ring just because it's so much more complex a track than LeMans. How many turns on LeMans vs the 'Ring? It's also over half again as long as LeMans, as I understand. In the off chance they're both in the game, I think it's safe to say the 'Ring will take me longer to learn, thus more challenging, and more fun.

Nurburgring for me, but it is a tough call.

Still the 'ring is in GT4 so if Le Mans is also included (plus older versions 'sans' chicanes) then I will be very, very happy.

maybe i was on edge but it still looked like something was gonna jump out in front of the car....especially when you're doing over 250 KPH...everything is blurry and driving thru the mist only compounds that. i'm not sure if there's been any supernatural sightings...i'll look into it but to me, being a hardcore racing fan, i believe that the spectres of dead drivers watch you from the treeline....keeps you thinking and the idea that i could be joining them keeps me from pushing it too hard...the second lap, my friend let me drive the car and i was like DAMN gotta watch out, especially in the narrow sections. as for Transylvania....no tracks there :ouch: I wish....but some of the windy mountain roads are insane if you have a fast car :scared:

The Nurb' or Le Mans, I'm gonna sit on the fence on this one.

To me it's not one or the other, it's not as simple as that.

The Nurb' would get my vote if we're talking about high performance Supercars & GT cars, as that's where they normally are taken to 'test' their abilities...

Likewise, if we are talking LM's, LMP's, FIA-GTS, FIA-GT, and the 'old' Le Man classes that were their predecessors, the choice would have to be the Le Mans track (especially pre-1990).

One of these tracks we know GT4 gives us, let us hope that the other is a surprise, then we'll have two motorsport heavens to waste the day away...

le mans has much more heritage and history then burg

i would go with the burg but i think its a bit ridiculus i mean the reason they built another track is because drivers couldnt remember the racing line isnt that a bit overboard bring on spa-francorchamps worlds greatest race track or bathurst

A bit new here, but still an active GT fan..

Hello Everyone...

And now to the voting: :)

I'd say that the Ring has got the same purpose as the GT games. Test the cars to their limits. Most (and I do mean most) car-companies go to Nürburgring to test new concepts and simple changes (everything from spring-rate to cup holders).

Most of the cars in the game will be road cars, and for me the Ring adds to my illusion of driving my dreamcars, or testing it.

Le Mans is sure one great track. But a bit too "stop and go" for me. I respect everyones opinions though :)

Cheers Fellas

I think you may finds that the main reason the 'ring was removed from most race series calenders (but particularly F1) was due to the number of drivers killed or serious injured on the track.

I don't think I've ever heard the reason stated as being that they could not remember the racing line!

I'm damn sure Niki Lauda may disagree with you, as it was his accident and Jackie Stewart's campaigning that lead directly to the removal of F1 circuit status from the 'ring.

The track is to long to marshal safely for F1 (and arguably for other classes) and the run-of areas very, very small. Generally most of the track has a 1- 2 meter (approx 3 - 6 foot) run off which is bordered by armco or trees.

I've driven the 'ring once, as have a number of others who post here and I'm sure most will agree its bloody frightning at times in a road car, let alone an F1 or Gt class car.

As much as i love the Le Mans circuit, i believe that 'The Ring' is a more suitable track for a majority of the cars in GranTurismo. The LM racers would be fantastic at La Sarthe, but for many lesser cars it would be too wide and boring compared to 'The Ring' which has a better layout for the less capable of the available GranTurismo entries.

I would, of course, prefere to have both - even/especially at the expense of most of the 'city' circuits.
