I love this track more than anything else. Best of all I live fairly close to it and i'm going to sit next to my brother in law driving a lap in a tuned Mustang GT-350 '67, probably in a month or two when the weather is better. 👍

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Christo, not seen you in the online lobbys recently.

re your comment above - You lucky chap, I live next door to Goodwood Motor circuit so the Festival of Speed and Revival are only 2 miles down the road.

Huge fan of The Ring, been driving it religiously since GT4 came out. Sure, I'll botch the occasional corner when I'm doing my own Time Trials and "have to" do another lap, but for the most part I feel like I've got it down. Saved a ghost replay of a run around the complete 24H ring at night in my fully tuned '10 WRX and I love watching it every now and then.

I'm learning the ring as well...

Silvered AMG 300SL and SLS dry

Started off with the Lupo

When that went well i took the Clio V6 Cup racer and did a 7:35 yesterday (311hp, 1100kg, racing hard tyres) Was quite happy with it, could go faster.

Now thinking of an M3 of JGT car..

I hate this track, but only because of the way the game forces you to drive on it. 16 car grid, 2 laps max, dumb AI, rubberbanding exclusively for the AI, narrow track.

If this doesn't force you to drive like a maniac to get 1st place, then you are not human. And this is exactly how you shouldn't be driving on it.

On the other hand, as a test track(which is its purpose) it is quite manageable.

In my opinion this is the best track in the game eventhough I don't know it thoroughly yet. My best advice is not to use the driving line. This forces you to memorize everything.

It was designed as a race track and still is used for that purpose.
it is narrow but if you you try to overtake at the right spots it is no problem.

I love this track eventhouh I don't remember all the corners and I'm going of alot I can see improvement which every lap:crazy:

this is an awesome example, 2010 WRX STI 7.55 lap time.
Makinen is really fast:

cheers

From what I've read, he learned the track in 10 laps!! 5 for the layout, 5 for the car, and set fastest lap for a production sedan. Amazing.

I didn't like the track at all when I first tried it out in GT4 but that's just because it is such a complex track and so hard to learn compared to the typical tracks you find in GT.

But I stuck with it and through trying it out in various cars and slowly learning the course it is now by far my favourite track to drive on. Once you learn the layout the complexity that had been making it so hard becomes an amazing 8 min challenge unlike anything else in the game.

Most tracks give you 8-12 corners to learn The Nurburgring is something like 70.

Stick with it and once you learn the track I think your in for a treat the likes of which you just cant imagine :)

Definitely love this track like no other...

In fact, it's not the best track in the game - from my perspective it's the best in real life 'cause there is nothing as hard and difficult to drive like the green hell!

By far there is no track in the world which you could compare with the Nordschleife. And by far nothing as difficult to drive! So many high speed corners over small hills with narrow passages that you have to hit the apex or you be in the grass...

It gives such a longtime motivation and will probably be the track I'll be running the most laps on in the game! Even though it will be pretty tough to earn gold in the whole AMG driving school I know I will make on day - even if takes me a year! I don't care, it will always be fun! As someone posted here: You NEVER have really learned the track 'cause there will always be a turn you could improve. So please don't say you "know" the track if you mean you can spell it's name...

Hope I can do a lap on it one day... But definitely not on my own, I will take a taxi ride to really feel the speed and the forces.

Had to work a lot last two weeks, and the girl demands most of the time I have left :D upcoming week i'll be on a lot more =) Peace!

I had an idea on the way to work this morning, I should just run one of the races that take place on the ring and that was I'll still make money and XP while I learn. Then hit the special events to apply what I've learnt to see if I'm gold yet.

First off, you should really use at least racing hard tires on this track. That could save you a lot of spin outs right there. Otherwise stop treating it as a racetrack in which you need to go fast or an obstacle course you need to memorize. Treat Nordschleife as a morning drive in a green, mountainous countryside and react to the road, its surface and many turns rather than predicting what's ahead.

I find that if you try to memorize the Nurburgring, you are doing yourself a great disservice, because you are relying not on your driving ability but only on your brain's memory. It's not a multiple-choice test. It's a car meeting the road and enjoying the challenge therein. Don't drive hard into the turns; brake before you enter them and slowly ease back on to the gas. If you're going uphill, let off the accelerator, because you never know what dangers could lie ahead. Take in the forest, the countryside, the small villages, and the distant mountains; this is a cross-country trip after all. The other cars on the road are adventurers like you. You'll find that they aren't pushing their cars to their limits either. Before you know it, you'll have made a complete lap, and you'll feel proud that you had more fun than bruises to show for it.

one thing you need to do on this track is RAISE YOUR SUSPENSION, if somebody gives you a tune and says its for the ring but has -30 suspension then it isn't for the ring. The ring is one of the bumpiest tracks you'll ever race on and you need your suspension to be raised so you don't bottom; thats most likely why you end up on the grass. Another tip is drive the 4 hour endurance race and pay attention to it cuz that defantly helps me recognize the corners.

If the AMG events aren't helping to take it in sections then do the opposite, and just run laps at any pace.

I don't know it perfectly but I am pretty competitive on it. What helped me was just doing multiple laps in a row in any car... There are a handful of places (like the end of section one) that you need to really pay attention too but once you get those nailed the rest is automatic...

And turn OFF the line... its miss leading and frequently off... with wrong breaking points or no braking points. And the key to being fast on this track is using the curbs... using the curbs is easily a 3rd faster than not.

Summery, go run 5 laps on the ring in a slower car, do 5 laps in a faster car, do 5 laps in any car on the 24hour mode (learn it at night shows all the bumps and unevenness).

Bam, your opinion will change in less than an hour...
