Anyone have it? I'm reworking my internet setup and I'm going to use a router now. Good things? Bad things? I want to hear 'em all! ;) Nyko Wireless Net Extender

check gear.ign.com - they did a recent review of it.

Personally, i don't like it because it doesn't give very accurate info on signals and such. What you *could* do is put a wireless 802.11b card into one of ur pc's and a wireless to ethernet bridge onto your ps2. set up the pc to do internet connection sharing oover the wireless and u would be set. it would be just as expensive this way i think.
but then, if you consider that they now sell half-decent 802.11b routers for under $40 (canadian) and bridges for approx $120 (canadian), you will be spending the same amount. the wireless routers all have at least 4 ethernet ports built in so you can wire connect your machines or do them wirelessly. right now, i have my desktop and my ps2 wired and my 2 laptops are wireless. Works great for me. The only reason that my ps2 is wired is because i only had to go through 1 wall so i just pulled out my drill to save on cash

All games prior to ATV offroad fury 2 work with usb ETHERNET cards. The PS2 itself doesn't handle usb wireless because wireless requires drivers. You *could* use usb wireless with the linux kit but it would be good ONLY under linux.

DO NOT GET THE NYKO WIRELESS NET EXTENDER, THIS THING IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF **** I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. i've had this god damned thing for about 30 days now, and ever since the day i bought it i have had countless problems. i am 100% sure that i set it up exactly right, just how the instructions told me, and trust me this thing is anything but convenient. i bought it to play SOCOM II with it, without having to drill holes in my wall, and now thanks to this stupid thing my rating is completley messed up. heres the thing: after i got it i hooked it up (took me about 20 minutes, no prob) then i set up my account and logged on for the 1st time. it worked perfect... for the first 30 minutes! after about 30 minutes of playing, the LED on the front stopped blinking and the game froze, i lagged out, and finally it kicked me off the network completley... at first i thought that this was just a one time thing, but damn was i wrong. so wat i did was, i unplugged it for about 2 seconds and plugged it back in and logged in again, it worked perfect again, for about another 20-30 mins. now it keeps on doing the same damn thing over and over again and i have to keep on doing that over and over every 20-30 mins (unplugging it and pluggin it back in). to make things even worse, i tried to look for a number i could call to talk to someone and mabye get it fixed, ONLY to find out that nyko doesn't even have a damn phone #, and i sent them numerous e-mails only to be ignored. NYKO CAN KISS MY 🤬. i am only warning you, it might work for some people, but i would not take the risk. save your $100 and go for the hardwire if possible (thats what im gona do now, holes or no holes, IF i am ever able to even return this piece of crap), trust me YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. and as for me, i will never buy another nyko product ever again; too bad i had to learn the hard way :banghead: , dont let it happen to you!...

(BTW if u don't believe me go to amazon.com and read the reviews for it, somewhere in there is a guy who posted the same exact problem as me, so im not the only one)
