Can anyone explain (or at least try to rationalize) why the following features aren't included in GT5? They all seem like no-brainers to me...and...GUH...I keep hoping they'll materialize in some update, but of course they never do.
1. Any of the Reasonably-Priced Cars from Top Gear. They have the Top Gear partership / content license -- where's my Liana, Lacetti, or C'eed?
2. Standing starts on the Top Gear Test Track. All of the events on Top Gear are always standing starts. Some of the GT5 License Tests are standing start (so, obviously they have the "Standing Start Technology"). Why can't I drive a timed, standing-start lap around the Test Track?
3. Celebrity Leaderboards from Top Gear. If you combine 1 and 2, and let us drive the Reasonably-Priced Cars in timed, standing-start laps on the Test Track, then it would be cool to see how we ranked against the "Stars" who have appeared on the show. Am I faster than Jay Kay, or only the "Well-Spoken Man"?
4. The Stig's Power-Lap Times. Similar to #3, it would be nice to drive a standing-start lap in an exotic car, and see how that time stacked up against the Power-Lap rankings.
And lastly (this one's not Top Gear related)...
5. On-line leaderboards for Time Trial lap times. Prologue had this, where did it go? Did the volume of storage become too much, since the number of cars and tracks in GT5 is vastly greater than that in GTP? But isn't storage cheap now anyway?
1000 cars
71 tracks
1000 times per car/track combination
50 bytes per record
1000 * 71 * 1000 * 50 = 3.5 GB. This isn't anywhere near the database size limit of either MSSQLServer (524 Petabytes) or PostgreSQL (32 TB for one table).
Has anyone else been missing these things? Are these not obvious to everyone else? Has anyone heard a reason why these things aren't included?
