Let's talk Volkswagen here. What do you like that you have seen, and what you don't like that you have not yet seen.

Me, I'm way happy to see that the .:R32 is in, but I am hoping to see a little more Bora/Jetta action especially the new GLI which is the closest thing to an R32 but in sedan form for us here in the US.

I currently drive a 00 GTI VR6 so you can see where I'm comming from.

The W12 is in isn't it? I rememeber seeing screenies. Pitted against a Saleen S7, Ford GT, Lotus Esprit (Motorsport one) and a Dodge Viper GTS/R.

:) Yeah the golf was far to soggy to be called a GTi in MkIII and IV versions. I cannot believe that VW had the audacity to call the 115 bhp 2.0 MkIV a GTi. That was the slowest and worst handling supposedly sporty car I have ever had the mispleasure to drive!!! Definitely for posers and people who were more concerned about image than ability that one... :yuck:

The MkV looks like it is back on track though. At least following the Focus's lead and giving it independant rear suspension has improved matters no end! A 197 bhp engine is a good idea too!

Paul.

...well i just like the VW w12 Nardo (and hope it´ll be in GT4 with MORE than just one color--->the orange color from GTC!)....cuz the W12 racecar, which raced in italy was BLACK and some colors like BLUE OR SILVR would fit in very well!
---but my ´favorite VW is the one and only W12!!!--

As far as I am aware the W12 was never more than a prototype (which is a big shame) and never raced.

If the black one you are thinking of is this one:

Then thats the car from the world record run at the Nardo high speed bowl (Italy), here is a copy of the VW press release regarding it.

"(from VW Press Release) Nardo / Wolfsburg Volkswagen took a prototype of its W12 sports car to the Nardo high-speed circuit near Lecce in Southern Italy on February 23 and 24, and again beat the existing world 24-hour speed record. This exceptional sports car design, with a top speed of 350 km/h, covered a distance of 7,749.4 kilometres at an average speed of 322.89 km/h.

The world record set up only shortly before, on October 14, 2001 with the same car, was beaten by 27.7 km/h, with the car covering 663 kilometres more. This improvement is due to the remarkable reliability of the 440 kW (600 bhp) twelve-cylinder engine, to further development work on the car itself and to its highly motivated crew. A version of the same engine with an output of 309 kW (420 bhp) will power the new Phaeton W12 luxury saloon model that is to have its world première early in March at the Geneva Motor Show.

In parallel with this ultimate speed record, the seven-strong team of drivers also took five more world records and twelve international class records according to the official rules drawn up by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for such attempts, and subject to its approval. It amounts to a sensation that the twelve most important class records for distance and time in the segment for prototypes with normally aspirated engines of up to 8,000 cc (category A, group II, class 10) - the class for supersport models - are all held now by a single manufacturer - Volkswagen. This is a situation that has never occurred before.

The world record statistics kept by the FIA reveal a further sensational situation: in the category concerned, Volkswagen holds seven of the twelve world records. Six of them were set up with the W 12 sports car prototype and one back in 1980 with the 'AR VW' (AR = Aero Research), an aerodynamically optimised experimental vehicle. The twelve-cylinder coupé only failed by a tiny margin to capture the eighth world record last Sunday: its average speed over 500 miles was 327.39 km/h, precisely 2.88 km/h more than the old record. However, the FIA rules call for the new record to be at least one percent above the old figure, which would have meant averaging 327.76 km/h: a scarcely noticeable difference of 0.37 km/h. As a result, the class record is actually higher than the world record.
"

Other colours I have seen the W12 in include red and yellow.

Once saw the orange one in the metal at the NEC motorshow (can't remember what year) and it looked stunning.

I thought I saw a black W12 somewhere? (gloss black, not that flat black one)

That black W!2 reminds me of that car from that old movie. Kid is killed, comes back, races kids who killed him, parts of his car disappear everytime.

Anyways, the W12 is great, but the Phaeton would also be nice.

You say it guys, that was my favourite movie for a long time and one of the reasons why I call myself "the Interceptor" (the movie has this name here).

Cheers,
the Interceptor

That Yellow W12 Concept is an older, much different version of the car.

I'm happy that they've included the MkI and MkV GTi's, though I was hoping for the mk2 as well. I'm also pretty happy to see a non-Cup Lupo GTi make it in.

^But way too expensive. 👎

The MK1 GTi is the only VW worthy of GranTurismo
Right. I understand your point, but in the whole Gran Turismo series there are lots of worst cars than a Mk2 or a Mk3 GTi, for example.

I think the whole GTi generation should be in.

The Mk II is a car worthy of the Gti tag, but the Mk III and Mk IV are not. Over weight, soft and underpowered.

You are quite right that worse cars do exist in the Gt series, but how many of them are strugling to live up to the benchmark set by their forebearers.

I happen to like my MK IV GTI VR6. The only thing I wish it could have is 4 motion. That's why I'll jump on the .:R boat when used ones show up.

The Mk V though.... Looks like a civic to me even if it's german.

Leads me to another question.... Will the new .:R32 have the mk V body? If so that will make the MK IV .:R32 a desirable car.

The Mk III is not that much heavier than the Mk II, and has more power. But yes, it is softer.

True. I completely agree.

Thank you very much for startin a thread like this
i also drive a GTI VR6 02 and happy to see more VWs in GT4. I wish that they can put Touareg V5,6,8,10, & W12. Because i think they have some asian Suvs in the game. I want to see Phateon 6,8, W12 in the game and many more VWs.
Hopefully R36 concept
GTI Golfs I,II,III,IV, V

It would very nice to have the best golf ever: the 1992 MKII Gti 2.0L 16V in the game! Thats the car i'm byuing this summer, still looking for one though! I'ts hard they are all modified!. But, ya! it should definitely be in! I would love to modify it in theh game and then in reality! AWSOME! :dopey:

I can't really say im a fan of the new Mk V body, but yeah any new .:R32 is likely to have it, which could make make the current on more disirable but most likely only in years to come.

There's a (Photoshop?) picture of the Mk V .:R36 here, actually looks quite good. BTW it's the 9th one down in a series of more obvious photoshops so could take a while to load.

Seeing as they went to the trouble of putting in the relatively unknown (and ugly in my opinion) BMW 1-series diesel, I would certainly hope they could put in some VW and Mercedes diesels as well, such as the Passat TDI. Those companies have a far longer richer history of diesels than BMW, at least as far as the North American market is concerned. But, I'm really happy they have the old Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Mk. 1 Golf (Rabbit), and at least one Jetta.

The original beetle had IRS it's no new idea. Looking forward to driving that, the Karmann Ghia and original GTi.

Those three are the ones I'm most looking forward to as well. A Mk I Scirocco would be a nice one, too. In keeping with all the rally cars, a Baja Bug set up for the Baja 1000 would be excellent.
