So this game just came out today march 15th 2011. Has anyone played it yet? I haven't bought it yet but I've watched some videos and it looks amazing. What are your thoughts? Is it worth picking up? Will people still be playing this several months from now?

Its an FPS game. To me it looks like a cross between call of duty style gameplay with battlefield style maps and vehicles.

The single player premise from what I understand is that in the not so distant future north Korea invades the US west coast and the American freedom fighters are forced underground. In the videos I'm seen it looks pretty gory.

As for muliplayer I know even less but it seems to have some larger maps like BF2 but with a very cod like setup in that you have perks and kill streaks and such. The thing that is different though is that you get points for doing pretty much anything from getting a kill to playing the objective and they don't reset when you die.

Well I couldn't wait any longer after watching a few more multiplayer videos so I had to run out and buy a copy this morning. I'll let you guys know what its like. I'm probably going to play through the single player first before jumping into online mode.

OK well here is my sort of review on the short time I've played the game so far.

I played through the single player campaign pretty quickly. It was fun, mildly challenging and relatively short. It took me a handful of hours similar to how long a COD campaign might take.

Now on to multiplayer. I am having a BLAST! This game is really amazing. I mean really. The graphics aren't as good as some of the other big name games but I say they're pretty dang good on console. The maps are large, the weapons are fun to use, the games are often close and challenging. TDM has a score limit of 12,000 points and I believe a time limit of 15 minutes. The game plays a lot like a battlefield game with a COD style and pace. You rank up, unlock weapons and attachments, perks, camos and the whole shebang. The weapons are also pretty balanced. SMGs don't have AR range and ARs don't have sniper range.

And the best part is this game has dedicated servers. Thats right no more COD P2P nonsense. I noticed ZERO lag in the games I played. My shots went exactly where I wanted.

So all that said I highly recommend anyone interested in a new FPS game pick this game up ASAP. You won't be disappointed.

I am playing it on PS3.

This game certainly looks a lot better than MAG. I never played that game but I always thought it looked terrible.

This game borrows more from Battlefield and COD than anything else. Its still not a rip off though because it brings some really nice new things to the table like the way kill streaks work. Instead of having to get all your kills in a row just getting kills or capturing objectives is enough. You can still die and keep building up your streaks until you feel like calling them in.

It seemed like spider was having lag issues, or does it really take 20 bullets to kill someone in the game? He pumped a few guys just full and they didn't drop.

The SMG he was using has a high rate of fire and low range just like you would expect for an SMG. At your typical AR range it does take a lot more bullets to drop someone with an SMG. Its not impossible but if you're going AR vs SMG at range the AR is going to win almost all of the time.

The part I seen where he had a hard time he was maybe 10 feet from the guy. But, I won't judge it until I get to play it though. Its sitting in my gameQ on gamefly, so I will get it at some point.

I'm just finding so many mixed reviews on this game its crazy, you had spiders video, so here is Gunns.

Gunns is acting like a huge douche these days. Notice he says he hasn't played the game and isn't planning to but that he feels fully qualified to do a review based on other reviews and internet rumors. Thats just flat out ignorant. He's saying that it was a launch failure but in truth so many people bought and played the game on the first day that the servers were swamped and they are having to add more. To me that says the game was a bigger success that even they expected.

Here is a more favorable GAMEPLAY review. You know from a person that has played the game. This game might not be perfect but if you're tired of COD and BF2 I think this is the game for you. TDM isn't as bad as he says but most other stuff is pretty close.

I really like the more realistic map designs though, there aren't any really dedicated choke points it looks. The maps just have a look like they aren't maps, but more like just a piece of a city etc. broke off and your let loose in, that's nice.

Yeah thats not a bad way to put it. The TDM maps are smaller than the ground control maps but they're still pretty large and not built like a COD map at all.

Well I played a lot longer today and I did have two issues with the server disconnecting but otherwise the game is playing flawlessly and I'm having a good time. I had my best TDM so far earlier 28-3 using the M110 sniper rifle.

I played this today at a mates house and here is what my opinion is on it from doing so. I will compare it to COD just because most people play/have played it and know its good and bad, and that is the only reason I am comparing it to that.

Servers: They seemed to work well, some of the time. Most of the time I had a hard time getting into games, or it taking a while to get into a game.

Hit detection: WAY better than COD for sure, no problems in this area.

Map design: I like the maps better, but not really. What I mean is most of the games I just came across loads of snipers sitting way up on rocks and such and it was very frustrating not being able to move about the map hardly at all without getting killed quickly. The way the maps are made allows this, and basically promotes camping hardcore.

Killstreaks: I like how they work in this game with the points system, but not sure if I like it better than how COD works theirs simply because there isn't really much skill involved in getting killstreaks in this game.

Controls: The controls are a little sluggish, not really clunky, but just sluggish.

The perk system: I like how they are setup much better than COD's.

And again on the map design mixed with the spawns. The map designs combined with the spawns just equal awful to me. The spawns are horrible, and they don't flip hardly at all which just makes for some very easy spawn killing, which really pisses me off. Most of the time I found both teams just having fun fights from set locations on each side and that lasted the entire round. Will I buy the game? Hell no. Would I mind getting it from gamefly to play the single player, yes. Again, these are just my opinions so nobody start a flamewar please. You can rank up to level 5 on multiplayer if you rent it, to play online you have to buy it new. I like this compared to some new games where you have to buy it new to even try the multiplayer. So, rent it, play some online and that way you don't waste money.

The spawns are great. I haven't seen any spawn camping. The top down view you get before you spawn shows you where everyone is so even if there is a spawn camper you know about it and can take care of it. The spawns do certainly flip as well at least in TDM.

Map design doesn't promote sniping that much more than any other FPS. All it really means is that you have to be willing to either take a different route if there is a sniper covering another route or better yet just switching to a sniper class yourself and taking the other guy out.

There also isn't as much camping as there is in a COD game. The maps are larger and there are very few choke points. A guy sitting on the outside of a map in some random shack isn't going to get kills like he would on a small cod map. The fact that you can also get an unlimited personal UAV sweep at any time means you can often hunt these guys out.

So, basically if you're playing this like a cod game you aren't going to do well.

I was doing fine, I was positive KD every game. But in the games I was in camping was a must for the other team, camping is ruining every single FPS there is now and its all of these idiots faults on youtube like woody and wings. The gameplay they show is just all camping and people flock to that because it gets you a high KD.

Well its never exactly fun to get killed. I'm not sure what you want. You'll never find a game in any game where everyone is running around.

Most all of the 3rd person games like Gears everyone is running around, I have never came across people camping in the 3rd person games really.

I thought that Homefront has some system called Battle Commander which is meant to eradicate, or at least make camping unlikely? Basically, it will send troops against any target exhibiting a high kill-count, such as a camper, adding more and more resources until that person is toast.

And hey -Uncharted 2 is 3rd person and it's a great game, for online too.

BC does in fact do that. You get more kills and it gives you some special perks but it also alerts more enemies the more kills you get. I haven't played anything but TDM yet but I've seen videos and it seems to work pretty well. Those unlimited personal UAV sweeps and recon drones that mark you for all to see also make it hard to camp.

I had another pretty good few games earlier. My two best games were 26-3 and 26-2. I played on the map Cul-de-sac for the first time and had a pretty good game. These idiots kept running around this corner and I was taking them out with my sniper rifle like it was a child's game. Some people just don't learn I guess.

You must have never of played socom then.

I have, but I didn't say that all of them don't have any campers. But, what I have found in those types of games the campers are pretty much non existent compared to games like COD and such. Nothing angers me more than idiots just sitting in a corner waiting for the entire match, get a kill and move to another corner:tdown: I'm not bashing this game at all, so please don't take anything I say that way. I'm still planning on getting it from gamefly to give it more time to try to grow on me, I just really love the way COD games feel, the responsiveness and all of the controls. I like BF and MOH, I just don't like the way the controls and game feels at all. If they could make a game like those with the responsiveness and all of COD games it would be great. This game had a great idea and all, they just didn't execute it as well as they should have. If they would have done what they talked about this game would have taken the top spot for FPS's for sure. I'm really looking for the next FPS to take COD's place for me, I'm so sick of COD games but its like a drug. No matter how much I hate it I just come back for more anger, I don't know what the hell is wrong with me:ouch: But BO's is on hold right now for me because I just got in Fable 3, and I loved the first 2 so later on COD....for a while anyways that is:ouch:

Did you give Killzone 2 or the new one a go yet? Not having played CoD I can't compare, but I do know people who have and they are firmly on KZ's side.
