Is there NOS in GT4?
Yes

Can you use NOS in all races?
Yes

Can you add NOS to every car?
Probably most cars, there should be some exceptions (i.e. antiques)

How much does NOS cost?
$5000 per Car

How do you use NOS?
Hold down the R1 button

How long does NOS last?
Approximately 30 seconds if used non-stop

What effect will NOS have on my car?
Your car will experience a notable increase in acceleration. Your RPM's should run twice as fast. BUT it is not over-done, it gives your car a small boost.

What happens to my car and surroundings when I use NOS?
There is no backfire, you are NOT warped into a vortex where everything around you becomes a blur.

But NOS ruins this game!

I'll leave that for you guys to argue :)

Thanks for FAQ but their one question I have does it add weight to the car or change its balance? Two or more tanks of NOS should weight 50+pounds to the car I suppose:confused:

Oh noes :O

*puts on flame suit*

This is gonna get ugly.......too many different oppinions about NOS.
Personally i think it should only be offered in Drag Races. This is gonna ruin alot of 2player races.

Are you sure the NOS only costs 5000Cr, I saw a screen where it cost 50000Cr.

I don't think we need smart anti-nitrouse comments in here, it's a FAQ for god's sake it's here to help people and answer questions.

If it costs 50000 credits that's stupid! In real life it wont cost you that much to install 2 nitrous bottles...

Thanks for the FAQ, it's great, and lovely to know that you don't pull of one of those crazy  "warp speeds" like NFSU2. What a stupid videogame.

Oh dude, one question. Are the nitrous tanks licensed?

^ yeah i have that question too...........is it NOS or Nitrous Express??

oh, and also......what sound does it make??

And another question:

Can you refill the NOS system at the pits during a race, or do you have your 30 seconds for the full race, and when it's gone it's gone?

Thanks!

the currently available versions have a different Credit system.
One you start the game with 10,000 and one you start with 1,000,000.
The different Prices will obviously reflect different versions.

Not sure which version has which credit system.

Looks like 1twojay has the Chinese GT4 version, so add few 0s to the price in JPN GT4.

My question:
Do AI opponents use NOS while non-drag races?

(I hope they do not...)

Your right, I was looking at the Japanese version, it was 500,000Cr anyway not 50,000 so thats 5000Cr in the Chinese version.

Do the AI players ever use it? And if so, is there an option to keep them from using it?
That's what I was curious about. If we can use it, I certainly hope they are able to as well.

Also, I'd imagine having N20 installed on your car will reduce the points you earn if you win. Does this occur if it's installed, but you never use it? Or, can you remove the tank for a race if you don't want the point penalty, or is it on for good (like weight reduction in the past, for example)?

That's a nice F.A.Q. 1twoway, but ***this*** is really annoying. So I took it out of the title.

I'm glad to see NOS is in, but also more glad to see that it is not overdone, with blur effects and eccesive acceleration. I think it will give another dimension to OLR races.

If things are done correctly ie your not forced to use it by the AI using it in the later stages I don't mind how often you can use it, in the XLink I'm sure you'll be able to tell people no NOS in this race or NOS is allowed ect so thats no big problem if someone cheats and uses it anyway you just don't let them race again.

does the nitrous fire under any condition that you push the button?

Or must you be above a certain RPM & at full throttle for it to activate.

It would be quite nice if a side effect of having nitrous is the risk of firing it at the wrong time (low throttle, low RPM, etc) and blowing the intake manifold off the head, or ending your day in some other spectacular way.

Watch too much Fast and the Furious movies :dopey: ?

I've seen nitrous used a lot for low rpm applications. In cars, nitrous is not as volatile as you think, it's not that easy to blow your engine, unless you shoot too much.

Great. Can we take "NOS" out too, and put N2O?

Nothing irritates me more than the TF&TF's influence in that category. ;)

chinese version is based on USD price, while japanese version is based on yen.

all cars in the japanese version is priced the excact same MSRP as the real cars u buy in dealership

I agree it sounds so like i dont know nasty like the L33t Speak stuff, its like teh NAWWWZZZ or t3h Squ33z3 know what i mean, NOS is a company its like cotton swabs though everyone or most everyone calls them Q-Tips but id appreciate it if it was changed to N20 or nitrous too.

But the option is called "NOS" in the game actually. If you change it to N2O, all the newbies will come here and ask for the difference between N2O and NOS! :dunce:

I liked Greyout's idea, and thought it would be a nice addition. I'd like to hear what applications you've "seen" where nitrous was used under part thottle or whatever. You know Greyout, I guess manufacturers of window switches and TP sensors having been ripping off us drag racers for years! Silly us, we thought they were useful!

a nitrous backfire will easily destroy an intake manifold. I've seen it happen.

I have two videos on my computer of a nitrous backfire, plus a local guy's supra had a bit of a nitrous mishap.

Video #1: 60-something camaro stages at a drag strip. He stages, raises the RPM to the 1st stage rev limiter... while waiting for the lights, his throttle switch apparently failed and his direct port system activated. The resulting explosion blew the hood open, and what looked like a carb flew out.

Video #2: a LS1 trans am on a dyno with a 150-shot. The nitrous fires about 1/2 way through the pull (you can hear the rate of RPM rize increase when this happens). At what sounds like near redline, a nitrous backfire occurs. The camera man drops the camera (he is standing next to the open engine bay, filming the engine), but the last few frames of the video show the lid of the airbox exploding before the viewpoint was engulfed in flames..

Local supra guy: His T78-powered Supra was parked overnight. During this time, the direct port system he had somehow developed a very slow leak. The intake, the intercooler, turbo compressor housing, and whatever cylinders had open intake valves filled up with the gas (and no doubt the engine bay to a certain extent, with the nitrous escaping the air filter) when he started the car, it blew the intercooler apart, cracked 2 piston rings, and actually blew the plenum off the intake manifold.

Don't anti-lag nitrous systems in turbo cars fire mild amounts of nitrous into the engine during low-revs, pre-boost, to help eliminate lag?

Maybe I've got it all wrong - wouldn't surprise me :dopey:

I've heard of this before. Using a small shot to get a car going while the big turbo takes time to spool. But there's a difference between low rpm use and partial throttle application. You don't want to hit it from idle, but you can still spray at 3000rpm so long as you're at WOT. The point is, you have to burn everything you put into the motor. If you don't, it will "pool" and ignite when you DON'T want it to.
