dude there is no Ferraris, Porsche and Lambos because PD never got the license from these car companies to have them in GT4 KY has been trying to get them in since GT2. I think that they will be in GT5 when they see how great GT4 will be.

I find it hard to believe that after trying so hard to get these licenses, they have still come up empty-handed when no less than four developers (and two publishers) BESIDES EA have managed to snag Ferrari, and two of those also having Porsche. It's just inconcievable.

Furthermore, it's hard to ignore the teasing hints they've dropped.

P.S. The most recent time I recall Kaz explicitly saying Ferrari/Porsche was a negative was at E3 '04.

What other developers besides EA have those cars? And more importantly, how many of those games are on the PS2? I think that's the crux of it there.. that EA wants to be the only PS2 developer that has them. I think they could care less if they show up on Xbox or GC. But in terms of PS2 racing, EA has always been very intimidated by PD, and with good reason, so they do everything they can to block PD from getting the "cool cars". Think about it.. If PD had the license of those three manufacturers, no one would ever buy another Need for Speed title. They wouldn't have to.

You'd think that after three sequels, people would stop making such a big deal out of a couple of manufacturers being excluded. Every time a sequel is en route, people go hysterical over Ferrari and Porsche. It's like drag-racing... uh, crap .

Anyways, nice to see that we'll have both the original GTi and newest one. I'm shocked to see the DB9 in, but with it's inclusion, I was hoping for the Vanquish S :|

It's strange. I can't find any mention of it on Falken Europe's site, or the japanese site (not that I understood half of the links), and the american site is pretty disgraceful.

Do you know what kind of races it participated in? Touring, endurance, or possibly it's a drift car?

Sumo Digital (OutRun2), Microsoft (Forza), Bizzare Creations (PGR2), and Sega-AM2 (Ferrari F355 Challenge). The Publishers are Microsoft and Sega. The PS2 game is Ferrari F355 Challenge.

Oh, and what could EA possibly lose by giving up their licenses that THEY'RE NOT EVEN USING!!!!!???

Yeah, usually I think rationally about this situation...I tell myself that with over 700 cars, there are going to be plenty of cars that match up to and exceed the performance of Ferraris, and plenty that look as good. But Ferrari is Ferrari, and you've gotta have Ferrari. And with no apparent reason for their exclusion, I just get pissed off about it sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them in there, either... And I recently got the Lamborghini in GT3, and I simply love that car.. it's one of the slickest rides in the game, and one of the best-looking car models (fantastic texturing compared to most of the others).

I think the reason EA is so protective of the license is because it's the only thing they have that PD doesn't. Even if they're not using it, they still hold onto it like grim death just to keep it out of PD's hands. Dirty dealing, to be sure, but they know that GT with those cars would be the ultimate racing game above all others. I think they're just about "anybody but PD", especially with different consoles.

I imagine it's just a matter of time. While it's theoretically possible that GT4 has them in those "missing" cars from the list, I'm not holding my breath. But they'll get 'em eventually. EA can't hold onto an exclusive license forever.

If I am not mistaken, the actual quote was that Ferrari themselves didn't want to give the license to them. IIRC, that is.

what about the Ford RS200 "rally car" from GT2, which was a road-going version? I liked that one, though the handling in real life is supposedly terrible.

I hope the SLR has the 'turbine' style wheels rather than those five-spokes, they don't really do the car justice...

And if the GTO might also be in as a Holden, what's the chances the UK version of the game will have it as a Vauxhall Monaro? And will that be the same deal with the other Opels? Think I prefer the VX220 tag to Opel Speedster...

Yes it was road version in gt2, wrong colour and not so much power than in rally car. In real life there is also differences in interior (of course).
