GT4... it's gonna be a monster... hundreds of cars... more tracks than any other game... BUT...

You're busily dreaming of driving that Hypercar around the grand canyon...

But what about the OTHER cars...

The small cars you start off with... untuned and with almost as much power as a dead slug...

That race car you just won that looks like it's going to have awesome horsepower... only to have LESS tuned than the normal road version...

That stunning looker you just won, that now tuned has all the top end of that dead slug mentioned earlier...

Or how about the cars that steadfastly refuse to go in anything but a straight line around corners...

Cars you HATE... what cars would you HATE to be forced to drive?

As for me... don't mention the Yaris/Vitz...

Just don't, okay..?

*shudders*

I'd rather drive a Vitz than any Scion.

Well, we already had the PT cruiser in GT3 I Hated that, and i dislike the styling of many new cars such as the crossfire. But if they have a bunch of slug slow gas-savers in the game, the possibility of having my car in the game goes up!

Sure it's a bit disappointing to get slow-ish cars, but you shouldn't have the mental attitude that every car is going to be blazing. If so, then you're missing the point of the series. I like racing medium-power vehicles in tough races; it's quite rewarding. If those given cars can't cut it, beat Sunday Cup with them or something. There are no useless cars in GT, at least for a collectioneer like myself. :D

Since there are used cars, you won't have to start with a ****box. I plan on starting with one of those 80's RX7s.
Yes, thank PD for putting back the used cars. 👍

Well, second hand cars would certainly help, but what about those damnable FF races... it doesn't matter WHAT you choose... nothing handles, and they're all slower that molasses stuck in glue... and that's TUNED...

Having said that, I could happily cope with driving a Toyoto Pod... having driven it in GT3 concept, I just love that car... it's the nearest thing to driving herbie of "the love bug" fame... now if it only had acceleration to match... *grin*

But an awful car is an awful car... and you KNOW there are gonna be some DOGS in there somewhere....

By the way I agree about the Scion... or how about the joys of an FTO road car again... looks nice-ish... but slooooooooooooooow.... :P

You disliked the FF races that much? I found that, tuned well, the ST204 Celica GT and the Integra Type R both handle very well, enough so to actually be enjoyable to drive.

There's really no cars I'm dreading. I actually enjoy the early cars more, as the races are closer and more challenging, and it's a more visceral driving experience. The highly tuned cars later in the game take some of the fun out.

if the 1991 Toyota Celica GT-Four is in GT4, that will more than likely be my first car, just like in GT2. It had only had 236 horsepwoer and was AWD, it was a great car. I actually like both the AWD and the FF cars for beginning GT4. I quess my most hated type of drivetrain is FR.

I don't mind slower cars as long as I don't have to race them on a huge track. Short coarses are were to race slow cars.

I can see it now, 100 laps in a Vitz on the Nurgurgring..............................

What wrond with the Vitz? The Demio was the original slow-@$$ed car in GT1... Man that thing shakes if you ever hit 100 mph...

Theres nothing worse that a low powered FF car. My forst car in GT2 was a GT4 but I might think about an old rear drive turbo as my first car in GT4.

But I think I'll take a week of reading in game stuff about GT4 like car discriptions and play around with all the features such as photo mode etc before I actually begin a proper race.
I just cant wait till I have that delemer of choosing the first car of GT4 :nervous:

I couldn't disagree with you more....I love the FR cars (and AWD with a vcd set to 10%)

As for my most hated........

The pro vitz series....20 laps on the nurb...kill me now.

Sounds like fun, not! I guess we're in the same boat though. I can't wait ;). You all think FF's suck? Ever heard of the Midget? Well, it's FR

Man, weather here in Houston was absolutely beautiful this Christmas Eve. Freaking snow flurries in freaking Houston! 32 degrees! Can you believe that, player?

Having to race slow cars in the start will make anyone feeling like they need a blanket and some hot chocolate to warm up Old Man Winter. However, part of the magic of Gran Turismo is to race vehicles of almost any kind. Almost any car available in the game can be driven and/or tuned to be better than its ever been. I feel your pain, "Fade to Black." I hope I'm not offending you, but this is a rather pathetic deal you got here. If you want to hang with the racing elites in Gran Turismo, you have to work your way up. You have to fight for it. How do you think Michael Schumacher went from karting to being a modern-day F1 legend? Do you start a first-person shooter with RPGs (Rocket-Propelled Grenades), AK-47s, MP5s, and maybe some ficticious sci-fi weapon? Have to work for it. Besides, racing some of the smaller, less powerful cars is a way to understand the world of automobiles. How are you going to enjoy Gran Turismo if all you'll do is want to race ONLY the fast, exotic muscle? I love the Mini Cooper, the VW Lupo Cup Car from GT3 had wonderful handling, as did the Lancia Delta S4 in GT2.

I know you may not like it, but give it a chance. And more importantly, just hope Test Course isn't used for long, low-horsepowered car races.

Hmm i love and can tolerate all drivetrain layouts.......BUT LOW POWERED FF cars SUCK SO MUCH :( all they do is understeer even when tuned properly and if you try left foot or trail brake the damn car slows down too much or oversteers too much. Ive mastered drifting in awd and rwd....even high powered fwd cars i can do but low powered FF are usless. The integra type R ive found to be the most neutral fwd car in the game. when tuned right it can be perfect. but nothing beats a slightly underpowered rwd car, those things are so easy to push to the limits and drifting is second nature to them :D

I love driving all cars fast or slow, as long as they dont make me do 20 laps of Nurb in the vitz ill be fine.

Every car will be a new experience in GT4. This game will raise the bar (again) for driving games for the next 5 years....period.

I know. Who has fun in those cars, anyway?

Oh, wait.

GranTurismo is beautiful because it embraces every day car culture.

I can't wait to personally validate the existence of the Volvo 240 and Nissan Pulsar NX.

Since nobody has said it, I dread having to drive the Nike car. There better NOT be a race series dedicated to having a full field of Nike cars.

I don't think I'm really against any of the cars in the game. Some of them I might not care about, and I'd probably never buy if given a choice, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't drive them if they were given to me as a prize or something.

Hell, my "Cars to acquire" list for GT4 actually includes a bunch of the funkier slow-ass cars. Daihatsu Midget (both of 'em), Toyota Pod, etc. Just to have 'em, ya know? Slow as hell, I'm sure, but just for the rediculous replays and photos with 'em.. hehe. Strictly for fun, not for winning races. :)

I don't see why people are so opposed to the low-powered FF cars.

Me? I love them. In fact, the one thing I don't look forward to with that drivetrain is adding power. It's once you're putting lots of power through the front wheels that the power-on understeer becomes a serious issue. In a light, ~200hp FF car, you can still have wonderful adjustability. No, what frustrates me even more is a low-powered rear-wheel drive car. It's then that you know you're missing out on something, because you don't have enough power to fully exploit the balance in the chassis.

It frustrates me though; I don't dread driving anything in the game. Each car has it's own special little characteristics in GT3; even the crap stock TT with it's hedge-threatening understeer could be fun once you figured a way to drive around that shortcoming. Why should I assume GT4 will be any different?

Y'know enough power to sink a battleship, doesn't equate to a good car.

Imagine you have the aforementioned car, which doggedly refuses to corner. Wouldn't the handling of "lesser powered" cars be useful there?
Without a decent combination of power, handling, weight, braking and driver skill, a car is at a disadvantage, though you could probablyget away with poor brakes.

In my own opinion, the car with the best combination in GT3 was the S2000. Until a full car list is unearthed, I will assume it will be the same story in GT4.
I hope I'm proven wrong, I really do.

I remember having lots of fun tuning up the Demio all the way in the first GT. It could hold its own against almost anything else in the curves because of its low weight, plus you could even get it to almost tip over but it never quite did.

I'm glad they're bringing back Motor Sports Land and adding an autocross course. It was fun testing the limits of the Fiat 500 and Pajero Mini in GT2, again I was able to get the Pajero to almost tip over with enough tuning. And even stock, the Fiat was fun on a short enough track, because you almost never had to slow down for turns.

So I'm looking forward to trying the Model T and VW Beetle in this one. I was a little disappointed at first, that the Beetle was the original 22hp 1949 model, instead of the 60's/70's model with more like 50-60 hp, but the Karmann Ghia is also in, which is basically the same Beetle chassis with a different body and the newer engine, so that's cool.
