Okay, i buy lots of used cars, i win lots of new cars and i trade cars.

This means i have many cars. Not only dsid it take, what 30 seconds to a minute for me to do a completely unneedful animation to 'acquire' said car (id understand it for a prize car but do i need this animation for 2nd hand car?!).

I buy a lot of cars that have no use in GT A spec mode as PD didnt make anough events for them all to be useful sadly. So they can sit in my garage, ill add them to favourites and play online with them.

But hold on, did i change the oil?! Does the game tell me that i changed the oil? or when i changed the oil?

How long does it then take for me to get into said car, drag its lowly ass to the GT auto shop, go to oil, and start to change the oil? When you have maybe 10 cars to do to use online this is taking too much time?

Why is PD trying to punish the player for changing oil?! Why cant it just be a option in the main garage, like to select ALL cars or select ALl cars with no oil changes in last 300 miles of usage? Or even just tick box, tick, tick tick then give me the option, 'refresh oil in 13 vehicles this will cost 13x250 (or whatever) Proceed, Y/N?'

Is that too much to ask?

And as for having to go in an individual car to the tuning place to buy new tyres?

How about PD tells us the size of each cars rims, then we could say buy Soft tyres in size 205/16 so we know it will fit all of our vehicles with this size?

Except the whole tire situation needs a refresh. I dont drive my RL car like i do in GT5, yet In real life, one set of tyres does not last my car forever?

GT NEEDs perpetual tire degredation that continues race after race.

I mean in GT5 i pay 26,000 or whatever it is for medium race tyres and what am i getting here? a lifetime supply for one nice sum? I can screw them into the ground in a race but next race they'll be fine and dandy again? How about making tyres have a lower up front price and proper degredation - which requires me to drive cleaner and smoother than before or be forever spending out on tyres?

In summary, having to take each individual car to GT auto, then to the tuned shop for tyres makes the process of acquiring and using a new car much more time consuming than it has to be.

PS: if PD gave us rim sizes, perhaps they could let us 'up rim' a car. I mean even like Audi or BMW let you buy the same car with different wheel sizes right? With bigger rubber to match. GT doesnt even come close to letting us do this. SUre i love my 80's cars, but as far as im aware they werent meant to be raced with super-narrows? Im sure they would up the rim size when going racing and not stick rigidly to street rim size?!

Maybe, if Race Modify your car provided fatter wheels that would help? But to avoid the current tyre buying situation it would help if we could stockpile tyres of a certain size without doing each car individually?

PPS: There are too many time consuming things that are just arkward for the sake of being pedantically arkward that take your time away from racing and add zero real value that could not be derived in a simpler manner.

My personal pet peive is the game telling me that the paint colour of the car I just bought has now been added to my collection......I have about 250 cars in my garage meaning I have got that same message about 250 times now.

OK......I get it........when I buy a car the paint colour is added to my collection.......do you really need to keep telling me that EVERY SINGLE TIME!

(although it was cute the one time I got the DeLorean and there is no paint colour added, just sooooo totally not worth sitting through it 250 times for that one nice touch)

This thread just make the "thread of the year" title a 3 way tie for 1st, and we are just 3 days into the year. 👍

I agree completely with the oil, and I have said the same about a "change oil in X number of cars" option.
I disagree with the tires. Buying tires is already a pain, I don't want to have to constantly be buying tires like I have to do with oil changes. What I do want is a "buy all tires" option, so I don't have go through 9 sets of tires and 3 OK buttons per set. I like to have all tires for my cars, so I can try different ones out on each track.
The other thing I really want is a "wear meter" for the engine and chassis rebuilds. Right now there is no way to tell if you are 20 miles over wear or 2,000 miles.

I don't mind the tire thing as much as the oil change. I hate jumping into a race series with a used car and the oil light pops on midway through the 2nd race.

Yep, even a 'logbook' style memo for cars would be nice.

'Car has done x thousand since last service. Car expects new service in x miles' but thats not necessary.

Some kind of indication, even a date somewhere for 'last oil change' underneath the 'acquired date' would help?

I mean how do you all remember when you last changed oil? Does PD want me to produce a spreadsheet of my own cars and do this myself using pen and paper or something?

Oh and How many times have I not been sure, taken my car to the oil change to recieve, 'this car does not need an oil change' message. Great can you tell me that before i enter GT auto somehow please.

And that doesnt even get into why User BGM Menu gets overridden in GT auto. GT Auto music is terrible, lets face it. Does PD like it that much it overrised my ability to override its own poor quality in music? Sadly yes PD seems to love the piano? This is likely because Kaz is about 40 or something and might like classical music and Ling Lang or whoever.

I remember 'Bleed America' and many other tunes in GT3 and 4. And yes there are some good tracks in GT5, just few of them, and no way to override the really annoying ones.

It is really annoying.. Especially since in real life I've never heard of a used car from a dealer not coming with a recent oil change done. I mean you don't go to a dealer and have them say "Alright here's the keys, now go away today but make sure you come back tomorrow for your oil change!!"

The whole tire system is just annoying as it is, I would rather have free access to all the tires and then have the cost of whichever set I choose to use deducted before the race begins.

There are a great many things in GT5 that need streamlining.
1. Tuning Shop...when you go to buy stuff I hate having to individually go into each section to purchase a part.
Fix...give us a check list with all the parts for the car that you can actually buy, and click on the one's you want to purchase, review and then at checkout see your total before spending also it would help that it gave you an idea of what the car would look like with additions added. See that, cleared up Tuning Section without a problem.

2. letting us know that we just bought a car, considering we knew about it a few seconds ago. Just quick buy, and send to garage option upon check out. Allow disable car buy animations, just get me back to the home screen or dealer where I bought the car from.

3. Not sure about you guys, but why does leaving an online room constitute me leaving the entire lobby? The hell is that about? Put me back in the browsing lobby, is that too much to ask?

4. There are certain things that need to be skipped through, oil changes, car washes, rigidity refresh, engine rebuild....heck everything in GT Auto should be toggled to be skipped. I like tinkering as much as the next guy, but it's only so many times I want to hear an impact wrench going. Also you should be allowed to choose to have multiple cars get their oil changed en masse. 10 cars at a time? Seriously?!? Cut down on the time spent away from actual doing the things that you bought the game for, driving cars, tuning cars and taking photos of cars...everything else needs to be done post haste.

I'm not sure what kind of tire sizes PD uses for cars in this game when you mod them, but I'm willing to bet it's the optimum tire size for the given vehicle(close approximation). Tire sizes are as important as the compound they are made of, although it might get a little confusing PD should have allowed full tire size(diameter, width and height), many cars have odd setups in order for them to function optimally. Take the Saleen S7, that car is MR and 550 hp in the rear, but it's strange to know that the front tires are taller than the rear tires, weird...but it works for the car. PD needs to give more with the tuning.

Side Note, anyone else notice that all the wheels on the standard cars are 3 dimensional? I sense incoming standard rim changes being allowed in an update. I could be seeing things, but the standard cars' rims are looking much better since that monster update we had over the christmas holiday.

The oil doesn't bother me too much, tires do though.
It's kind of sad that you only get to deal with tyre changes/pit strategies way later on in the game and that you seem to have auto-self-restoring tyres.

why not have an option in the tuner section that says install every upgrade possible?

The things you mention are caused by the schizofrenic nature of the game....

Advertized as the real driving simulator but actually Sony just wants to sell the game and make it a mass product that everybody can play.

Allthough the game tries to please both kind of players (hardcore and casual gamers) there is a lack of functions or options that let you play the game more you want to...

examples
- the 24 hour races .... A casual gamer doesn't want to play 24 hours the same track and for the hardcore racesimfan the 24 hour is unrealistic cause you can't swap B-spec drivers or there are no HP limits so what you end up is a 24 hour race that is painfully easy for the harcore gamer, the only thing a 24 hour race in GT5 does is eating your precious time and when you finished playing there is no satisfaction only relief.

-3 sets of racing tyres but there is no almost no difference in tyre-wear
why bother to buy mediums or hards.... but PD makes you do it cause in a-spec you have a Tyre restriction.

-yes you have to maintain your cars by changing oil and rebuilding and engine, chassis but tyres are for the rest of your life
And those cartoony animations are boring to watch at. Why not build a proper garage or pit-box around your cars where all tuning and maintaining is done.

etc....

the thing that GT-series does best is to createbeautiful cars and lots of them...
the game is actually more focused on admiring them then driving them

This is why we have the most sofisticated and beautiful car models in terms of polygon count.... but as far as a realistic driving experience it is a fail i'm afraid.
But this has always been the case in the GT-series.

I can't freakin stand having to watch that stupid animation every time you get a car. I have quite a few cars sitting in that delivery truck thing and that's where they'll stay because it takes too damn long to actually get them all into my garage. Especially since, most of them are useless to me.

I don't need some cheese ass animation to present me with a 94 hp piece of **** that I don't even want.

In Forza, you see that you have a car to download. You select "download car" and BAM, it's all done. What's so hard about that???

GT have been like that since their very first one... It's a annoying but what can we do abou it?? complaint?!? Create a new one!!?? You guys sound like you're not familiar with GT gameplay. Or do you want GT to lose it's essence???

About the oil change thing: Are you freaking kidding me?! Of all the things to complain about. LOL. Wow.

'refresh oil in 13 vehicles this will cost 13x250 (or whatever) Proceed, Y/N?'

Simple, effective, obvious... why hasn't it happened yet?

Actually, you can buy piles of items at the tuning shop and choose to not install them. This sends them to your items menu where you can (I think) use them on the current car you're in at any time. It's still annoying, but it's faster than loading up the tuning shop for each car.

It's supposed to be a driving simulator, not a car ownership simulator. I have a real car that needs oil changes, new tires, added fluids, a wash, and various other basic maintenance as I use it. Personally, I'd rather just get in and drive rather than do all those things. Why would I want to do those things in my leisure time with GT5? Okay, they're not bad really, but it's the loading and slight delay as windows and confirmations pop up that bothers me.

Seriously, how many button presses is it from the GT Life screen to get in a car, go to GT Auto, get and oil change, car wash, and then go to the Tuning Shop and buy three items? Not that many right? Now how about if I could just pound that combination of buttons in nearly as fast as I could go rather than tons of waiting and delay for such a simple task.

I don't want to rush everything and miss out on the fun, but I want to be able to do things quickly and efficiently when I need to.

There are too many time consuming things that are just arkward for the sake of being pedantically arkward that take your time away from racing and add zero real value that could not be derived in a simpler manner.

That about sums it up.

Buying parts is ridiculously conformation crazy. Buy part, Are you sure?, Ok, you wanna put it on? Duh YEAH! Are you sure? Sigh...
Rinse, Repeat.

Then the Tuning menu is just as bad, press right too many times and end up over on the Specs tabs, Sigh, Sorry try again...

If the tuning part is installed just GO TO THE ADJUSTMENTS.(eg. one tab for changing parts and one for just making the adjustments. Why did they scrap the one screen Tuning Menu(not too mention some of it's adjustments) from GT5P?? It was simple, all on one page and easy to adjust the tune on a car.
So there is my "other tab" right there, that dropped menu from GT5P.

GT Auto, same thing. just add in long drawn out animated scenes...

Granted GT has never been strong on the UI but this one is just an exercise in patience more than anything. It's not hard to figure out but then you just figure out how much of a PITA it is...

Great post! My sentiments exactly!!!

Please pd stop with the BS! how about polling or askingthe users for feedback!??? But wait... Then you have to act on it!

I'd like to be able to purchase tuning packages along with buying the individual items. It is too time consuming to buy everything. To be able to buy Sport, Semi-Racing, and Racing packages would be ideal.

The only time that I ever buy individual items is when I initially started the game. Once I can afford to spend 100K+ on a car it would be nice to be able to modify it quickly.

Also, it would be nice to be able to toggle on/off the oil change/engine rebuild/ chassis restore animations from the user configuration menu. They were fun at first but boring now.

Negative true I guess. The graphics in gt auto and tuning are flaccid and about as uninspired as it gets. So why does it take as much time to get into these areas?

I do, however count 2 clicks to get in car, circle out 2 taps right, X then right one for oil, then X then X and is it one more X again.

Then circle, Circle, left 3 taps.

And then really do the first bit to oil your next car. Surely this is too much for something you have to(or at least its best to) to change oil everytime?

Couldn't agree more. Far too many time sinks in this game where we spend time fiddling around in the menu systems rather than racing. The entire interface really needs to be streamlined, badly. Unfortunately, this is how the game has always been, and I don't see it changing anytime soon, if ever. PD have always seemed to be very set in their ways.

I know I know. I've had all GT from Gt 2 Ish onwards I know and love it but by now they could have sorted this out. Times have changed though.

Agreed on all fronts really. Even though I ocasionally play the game, I'm pretty sure that I spend almost as much time on the menus as I do in the game racing. Mind you the game itself is a blast, the route to get to the racing is..well long arduous and pointless.

And they need to have a paint chip color selector. Seperate it into colors 16 or 32 different sections should work.

That or have the ordered by alphabet via color, as in white: all the white variations, black, all the black variations.

I'm pretty sure there's just a bunch of variations of about 16 colors anyhow, so it shouldn't be hard to implement that sorting system.

And previewing the paint would be great. Above all the wear meters are of the utmost importance, although it's realistic to not know when your chassis is degrading until the handling is off, it would be INFINTELY easier if there was a meter. That and an in-garage GT Auto.

Seriously, someone should make an excel sheet, so that we can track our cars, oil changed, what upgrades, what tyres, how many km etc..

Many many things in this game take to long and need included/excluded. The tires don't bother me at all, however the oil change animations etc do, as well as the whole car delivery truck for prize cars and having to watch the animation every time I buy one.

One of my biggest gripes is the amount of time it takes to fuel the car. I calculated it once and now I can't remember the exact figure, but I think it was 1.5 seconds per litre, which is obsurdly slow, Shell garages fill faster than that and F1 pits run about 8-10 litres a second. If they are going to make me wait over a minute to pit they could atleast let me change settings whilst i'm there! Simple things like downforce or even brake balance which F1 cars do on the fly! In a minute + professional pit crew could easily change suspension settings too. This becomes very frustrating in long endurance races if you fiddle with downforce or suspension settings before hand and get it wrong.

Especially when it takes 80-90 seconds for my pit stop and then I watch the AI cars get in and out in 30-40 seconds.

I personally like hearing 'The Entertainer' and watching the cheesy animations when I get the feeling of pride that comes with maintaining and prepping my own car... oil changes don't bother me in the slightest, except I'd like to know how much HP is being added on without going to my garage to find out.

As for tires, I would NOT want to spend all of my earnings on two million sets of tires... I can't understand why anyone would want to go though all the money and time-consuming menus just to buy the same thing over and over again.

IMO your 'Garage' should be your 'Race Shop', and all aspects from the tune shop and GT Auto would be in your 'Race Shop' menu. This would streamline things so you can tune/wash/paint/oil change etc each car without leaving your 'Race Shop'. Of course this will never happen.

I agree that the oil changes are a pain but you are all wrong about the solution.

GET RID OF THE OIL CHANGE!!!

I hate it. I don't know how many times I cannot use a car for an event because at some point I changed the oil and there is no way for me to get it below the hp limit.

If they wanted a game where dirt accumulates, tires wear out, oil gets old, car performance changes over time they should have gone all the way with it. It would have been really cool.

But the way it is now where only the oil really get old after some long period of time it just becomes a tedious chore to change it.
