>It depends ob your DR but if you are B you'll have to be in top 3 for the rank to increase, I think.

LOL. That means never for me then.

I have a D and obviously i will never get a C, as you can't compete with those that are driving with a wheel. Oh well...

And to be honest, that's a bit unfair letting everyone run on the same server regardless if they having a wheel or playing stick.
I don't agree here. I have got better lap times with the stick sometimes as compared to the wheel just because it's easier to turn at full lock which helps on some tracks.
However personally I am way more consistent on a wheel as compared to a controller although I know people who are actually better on a controller than a wheel. Gt sport is excellent at keeping things even regardless of the control method.

My DR is at B right now, and after 7 races my DR has barely budged. Do you have to win races to get this thing to increase, or is it just placing above your starting position. Not really understanding how this system works yet and getting conflicting views without empirical data.

You do know that B could be where your skill is naturally. You don't have to move up. It's not a given you ever will.

I was high DR:B SR:S. I had a good run of 10-20 races and ended up mid DR:A. I'm out of my depth at DR:A and low and behold I've slowly slipped back down to low DR:A soon to become B. That is my current skill level.

Just drive the best you can and enjoy it. Yes strive to better, but it's not a given that you will move up. DR:S and DR:A are where you find the super fast, super consistent racers. I'm no slouch but those guys are quick, without question.

Well, maybe its my fault after all. :-P

You neef to increase SR first. Only when you increase your SR will your DR increase too. These two are tightly connected.

Of course you need a top 5 finish in DR B to increase the rating. However I saw that if you gain places from qualifying then your DR will incrase more.

My SR is S and my DR is borderline B to A.

My advice is race online only on tracks and with cars that you know and understand where their limits are at.

Try to race every race to the best of your ability running the best pace you can without having off track excursions and contacting other cars because you are driving over your head skill wise.

Longer races are usually more "tame" as people understand they have longer to advance their position over the shorter races.

Learn which tracks are known to be a common crash fest and avoid racing online on those circuits.

If you race in longer races with fuel usage and tire wear prior to racing online set up offline custom races with the exact same scenario and practice learning how your car handles as tire wear increases and fuel load changes and what adjustments to your driving are required to compensate. Mistakes offline do not damage your SR and DR rankings.

Also practice doing your pit stops so you understand the process prior to racing online.

Spend a lot of time practicing in time trial and custom race offline to gain lap to lap consistency in your times as this will aid your results online.

Lastly, race clean and have a good time and quit letting the SR and DR being the focus. If you do a good job racing they will take care of themselves and place you where you should be for your current skills and abilities.
