My DR is at B right now, and after 7 races my DR has barely budged. Do you have to win races to get this thing to increase, or is it just placing above your starting position. Not really understanding how this system works yet and getting conflicting views without empirical data.

It takes way more than 7 races. It depends ob your DR but if you are B you'll have to be in top 3 for the rank to increase, I think.

LOL. That means never for me then.

I have a D and obviously i will never get a C, as you can't compete with those that are driving with a wheel. Oh well...

And to be honest, that's a bit unfair letting everyone run on the same server regardless if they having a wheel or playing stick.

I disagree. My wheel times compared to my controller times are negligible. Wheel is just way more comfortable. This is coming from a guy who's been using a wheel on GT6 for the past 3 years.

Try to be more positive about using a controller. On the current N Sport race my lap time is within 0.5% of the world record time using the controller. That was after 50 laps on my own in quali. Can probably still find another 3 or 4 tenths with more practice.

Hmm, and why are the differences that BIG from the first placed driver to the last placed one?

You have to do a lot more races. I've done 30 since I got the game (only won 8) and I only upped my DR B for about 60%. I'm almost DR A now.

I'm not sure but I think it takes more races to improve DR the higher you are but small mistakes also don't punish you much. That's my impression but I'm not sure.

Stop racing around cleanly at the back and get more wins.

No, honestly I don't even know, I assume it's a mixture of either winning, finishing in the top 3, or just finishing races altogether.

I'm glad the pole position thing is the way it is so far, set one ultimate lap time and it sticks for the entire week so i can just keep entering races and racking up pole positions for the trophy.

I honestly have no idea how you've managed to get your SR up to S though, unless you're purposely not trying to win, and just driving around like miss daisy avoiding everyone, because at the sharp end of the pack it's impossible not to get taken out by someone & then collect a penalty for it...

last night was annoying, i was in 1st, and outbraked myself going into T1 on Dragons Trail. I didn't shortcut or anything, I just made my way back to the track and lost two places.

Yet the game thought it'd be a good idea to give me a 3 second penalty, and not only that, but everytime I slowed all the way down to get rid of it, the 3 seconds just stayed there!

I slowed down to 20mph for the entire 1st sector and basically lost like 5 or 6 places before it finally disappeared in the next sector.

Winning, LOTS of winning against other great drivers.

Sorry, DR is a scale which is assigned based on everyone's performance to ensure that you are placed against drivers of a similar speed.

If it was just a case of grinding races to get to S then what would the point be? Everyone would be in the same class and thus you may as well not have the system in place.

The DR should only be used by you personally to determine where your skills lie in the overall field of GT Sport players.

Ultimately, to answer your question - How to up your DR? GIT GUD

EDIT: This is coming from someone who needs to 'GIT GUD' but doesn't complain when other people are better than I am.

lol there's nothing you can do when someone decides to become a battering ram and ruin your SR/DR leveling. I stopped paying attention to the ratings honestly.

DR goes up of you win against people with a DR equal or higher than your own, and goes down if you lose against people with a DR equal or higher than your own.

It takes a few races for your initial DR to get calculated, maybe 10-20 or so, but after that your DR has nothing to do with the number of races you've taken part in. The only way you'll get your DR up if you become significantly better relative to the population of other GTS drivers.

I'm in SR group B, probably close to A, and I haven't been crashed into for a long time. E and D are rough, C is OK, and in B it starts getting very clean.

Yup I have about the same experience (I'm in B as well..I think), I drove a bunch of clean races and had fun but there's still people who will run you off the road in all categories. Had a good 3 way fight a Maggiorie last night, when I finally got in the lead the previous leading driver punted me off in the braking on turn 1 dropping my rating (don't know by how much, I really don't care anymore). He could've taken the inside line as I was far to the right. I managed to recover and get back into the leading group. He learned the hard way that if you're going to punt someone do it where there's a gravel trap lol.......

I'm in SR group A, DR D. I start in the last 5 places in every single race. Dont see more than 1 shunter per race these days. I'm not THAT much slower than the leaders lap time wise, but of course starting at the back I cant catch them. So a good race is me plodding round consistently and passing anyone who makes an error. Gaining 5 places and finishing in the top 20 is a major thing for me. SR keeps finishing blue S but dont know if it can actually go any higher?

I call ******** on that tbh... First of all, there's guys from D,C and B in the same race... So the whole idea of only being matched with people of you group is either ********, or broken.

But mostly, Group B still has people that ruin your race, they just do it differently...

Instead of the crazy first corner carnage (which still happens to an extent), it's usually they'll squeeze you off the circuit completely, or try and brake test you, or rear end you slightly so that you lose position and maybe 5 or more seconds trying to get composure again, while they only get a 3 second penalty that they can lift and coast to erase around the rest of the race while they sit in 1st.

ok all, I am sort of a GT vet, having played this series and every itteration since the original.
I dont really understand the SR and DR, am I right and thinking that these are Sportsmanship Rating and Driver Rating?
If so, what is the difference?
And, do these ratings start before you enter an online race? In other words do I have an SR rating from simply doing my Drivers School etc?

Sportsmanship Rating is how clean a racer you are (collisions & penalties). Driver Rating is how good you are (lap times and race results).

And one thing i dont see mentioned. Youre DR can never surpass youre SR. So first you got to be clean! And it only affects sport mode.

I was at C/D once. I'm not sure, though, if I got DR to C while my SD was at C, or if my SD dropped from C to D after my DR was already at C.

Same here! I qualified on pole and unfortunately finished second in one race with DS4 . Other than that i have always finished higher than i qualified (Usually top 5) with a real chance to win!
