This is the worst event I've ever played in any GT EVER. Every kart is noticeably faster than mine (or at least accelerate way faster), and I spin out and the kart locks up on me on half the turns--mostly due to getting hit from the back. I understand the karts take extra finesse, but I didn't have any problem with the past events, only this one. So what am I doing wrong?? I just find it weird that I've been able to gold every other race and trial no problem, but this one it's like first checkpoint I'm behind by 10 seconds, and every checkpoint after is like +2 seconds...

To be fair he is correct the AI karts are a bit faster off the line. The main difficulty in this championship is the last race, practice this track and you should do fine. And as mentioned proper gear ratios can be a big help.

Also rebuild the karts engine (cause you can't change the oil) for a small bump in power.

Yeah, play with your gear ratios' top speed, and it helps being a bit dirty as long as it doesnt affect ur lines. Took me atleast 5 races to win lol. Driving line on. Late breaking on the inside is a must on 1st corner. Ride your whole kart on 2nd corner/chicane, on the 3rd corner -end of chicane- its your choice wheather to go on the outside and be clean, or dirty on the inside. During the swooping last corner don't go on curbs, and try to be smooth but firm so you don't drift.

It does take a bit to get used to them especially if you are used to using assists which are not present on the karts and probably harder using a controller. I found that the kart was plenty fast enough as is, no need to do anything other than drive it well. You must be careful with steering and throttle inputs and be patient.

The last race was difficult just due to the track it is on but a few practice runs should be enough to get er done

The other tracks were a lot of fun, I even took the kart out and did some online racing in it afterwards, those things are a blast on some tracks

You need to learn to take these narrow corners sliding/drifting a bit. You must have a lot of finesse and precision. It you can't win its all you. It's one of the hardest events on GT6, but it's not extremely hard.

I felt exactly the same way. It was a bit like the GT5 Seasonals that were really hard, but satisfying, to win. There are only a couple of places to pass, the end of the first straight is the best. As someone said, late braking there on the first lap plus the next few corners will get you up to fifth or so. After that, get your line right and pass at the end of the straight. If you are close, the AI will slow down as someone else said. You've got 8 laps to make up five places. To win this I had to forget about my win/loss ratio and suffer 2nds and 4ths for several races. Good luck to everyone who's stuck on this one.

Had no problems whatsoever with this one, won it first try.
In fact, I think I'll do this championship again later since that kart was a blast to drive!

It's the karts, actually. No kart spins out that easily unless your tires are bald or you're in wet conditions.
I'm going to respectfully disagree.
I've only karted a few times and in rather slow karts at that and at a facility that's only a few months old as well, and I see people spinning out easily and often.

What are the correct ratios? I cant find any info.
If you're talking about the last event, GT arena, set speed to 93mph and set ballast 5kg to the rear.
Other races, I upped the top speed by 2 or 3 notches.

I've raced, real, karts competitively for 6, going on 7, years now and I can truly speak to that of the GT6 karts being a very bad representation of how karts handle. PD is apparently clueless when it comes to karts.

 Very bad representation? No. Because to be frank, they haven't changed from GT5. I'm glad they've attempted to expand with them.

Enjoy their existence. Because I can't think of a game on a console that represents the existence of Karting. And the one game that does - does a very bad representation. Doesn't help that the Karts are purely fantasy, who knows. Maybe Pirelli designed the kart tires to make the races exciting and challenging, yet rewarding.

I love the karts in GT6. One of the best and most challenging parts of the game. To be honest I've karted for awhile as well and the feel of the karts is nearly dead-on I think. The most realistic handling and performance comes from the slower karts I find.

No need to actually touch the ratios; just the Max Speed slider thing. My recommendation is to make the max speed setting two clicks shorter on the smaller tracks, like Kart Space and GT Arena. This will give you a higher speed at the start and out of corners. On longer tracks like Silverstone Stowe and Autumn Ring Mini, do the opposite. You might get slower at the start, but your top speed in fast sections will be enough to beat the competition by at least two or three seconds. You would be amazed how much of a huge difference just two clicks left or right on the max speed setting can do with Karts.

Remember; Smoothness is the key. Don't throw the kart around the track like you're in an online race with riced up Japanese cars. And avoid contact with kerbs or the A.I at all cost (just one small hit cost me a race once). Also experiment a bit with the Karts settings, so it adjusts a bit more to your liking.

It's interesting, but I actually find the shifters easier than the 125 non-shifter because of the steadier brakes.

Will do. Now that I have my wheel I hope the kart races will be a bit more approachable for me. (125 shifter are the only ones I haven't golded yet.)

I don't know how easier it will be with a wheel, but I wish you good luck 👍

I've decided I need to stop doing the shifter arena race b4 my ps3 and 40" tv end up three stories below. I've done it at least 50 times now and best I can do is silver (usually bronze) still about 1.5 seconds behind leader. Sux because it's the last star in the game that I need to get. I've tried all different settings and tactics listed here and elsewhere, I'm just not good enough lol. A few times I've watched the full replay with live timing info and they do slow down on laps 4-7 and I've gotten less than a second behind the top 2 cars but then they speed back up the last lap and I can't run them down. ****. I think the 2 or 3 times i managed silver it was only because i straight jacked the guy in one of the last corners to pass him lol.
