Old Monza is just so much better than new Monza

Not only do I hate chicanes in general but this one absolutely ruins the right hander that comes after it making it a pointless corner instead of a thrilling test like 130R at Suzuka. I came to this realization after finally grinding enough credits to participate in the 1979 races.

Chicanes are not easy corners to master. Exit speeds will greatly affects your lap times. Thats why i find them challenging/enjoying.

The old old Monza with the banked section was definitely the best Monza, safety issues aside. I do wish PD would give/sell us a track pack of old circuits and 1960s Formula One cars. The first serious car sim I played was Grand Prix Legends and I still miss those tracks and cars.

. Monza without the chicane is the original layout, no?

It’s the current layout. The barriers by the chicane are not permanent.

GT6 has a pre-2000 version, and some of the corners are shaped slightly different there.

Here is Audi testing their LMP1 car at Monza without the chicane.

Old Monza didn't have any chicanes:

This is the original layout, or one of them. I believe the banked corner stopped being used completely after the '60s, and F1 stopped using it I believe after the 1961 fatality of von Trips.

This is from the 1966 film Grand Prix, which features quite a few of the old circuits and is just an amazing piece of racing cinematography.

IIRC Von trips killed a bunch of spectators too, so I'm not sure if this video is just an inaccurate recreation, or a completely different event.

Love the banked corners on the original Monza. Great fun racing there in Assetto Corsa, especially in those old Team Lotus cars

The old old Monza wasn't an oval, it just had two high-banked sections looped in with the Monza pre-chicane layout. It would make a great addition to any racing game.

If you had took a few seconds to read the quote above my response and viewed the diagrams supplied by @ShiftingGears you would have seen the request was for the old oval shown in the diagram to return. I'm fully aware of the old Monza you refer to - because I pay attention.

Pretty sure this game doesn't need another boring oval.

Current Monza is awesome, nothing wrong with it.
Apart from three crappy chicanes. Which means there are three things wrong with it.

Since everyone else on the thread has been referring to either the pre-chicane version of Monza or the 10km one in the Grand Prix video and featured in Assetto Corsa then it's safe to say that only you seem to be talking about the only-ever-used-twice 'oval' layout. But then i am paying attention.

Clearly you're not. I'm done with this.

I think some of the p.c sims have that full Monza layout, letting you go into the old banked section during the lap.

I have Asetto Corsa on ps4 and I'm sure it's in that game too.

Yup AC has the track with the full banked loop plus the other (normal track) bit. Good fun in a period car

The old yellow and green Lotus f1 cars are "skittish" at the best of times.

Have you seen the historic version of Spa?

It is utter madness they ever drove it in those old cars.

Seen - and driven - the old spa circuit (including eau rouge). Incredible place, and yeah considering the cars they were driving back then, absolutely bonkers.!!

So you're in the wrong, you act foolish as if you never were, then when you're corrected rather than say thanks you act even more abrasive. Yeah why contribute to a community or learn from it when you can just act as if you know better. Again the talk is about the old grand prix track the one @LancerEvo7 talked about and 6 other people echoed him on. Only for you the one person to say something different "while paying attention". Anyways, glad you're done with this.
