As I mentioned in another thread cursing the B8 license test (which I see from various comments on the 'net that the PAL version is noted as being particularly difficult), I managed to finally get under 42.800, being the time needed for gold.

I'd started chasing this license test early last year, but gave up in disgust after getting to within 18 thousandths of a second, so you can imagine my joy, after another hour and a half of working on it, of finally getting gold and picking up that sky blue Miata.

The funny thing is, I now have the taste to go and finish the job of getting golds. I only have two bronzes (both on the S Licenses), about 19 silver and the remaining are golds. In the little half hour session I managed to clean up another two golds on the A licenses, so I'm on my way.

Funny the benefits that come with a long break. You know what I reckon's done it? Grand Prix Legends - you have to be so careful with the brake and the throttle in that game in managing weight transfer - I'm not much chop in that game, but I have improved somewhat, and I think it's brushed off on to GT3.

I should be nice and ready for GT4....

See! Going for golds is addictive once you get the hang of it! Good job!

I wrote a "How To Get Golds" for the A-License Tests for kideng's web site but I haven't seen both the tips, or kideng since then. I hope he isn't dead.

If you're gonna get gold on B-8, you might as well go all the way and get some decent cars :)

If I had to rank the most difficult things in GT3:

1) S-6 gold (Viper Oreca @ Laguna)
2) B-8 gold (Skyline @ Trial Mountain)
3) S-4 gold (Pennzoil Skyline @ Midfield)
4) R-8 gold (Lancer Prototype @ Tahiti Maze)
5) S-2 gold (GT40 @ Seattle II)
6) TT10 (RUF RGT @ Complex String)

The S Licenses are pretty easy to tolerate, though, since they're more practical than other tests, except S-4, which is just designed to piss you off. Midfield is simple, but you have to "Try Again" about 100 times because that pathetic Skyline just can't handle the last 90-degree turn with a good exit speed.

And I still think getting IA-4 gold from GT2 (NSX @ Apricot Hill) is more annoying than anything in GT3.

Yeah, I did the same sort of thing vat, then I got to A7, after about 3 hours I just got frustrated and I quit on getting the licenses again. :|

Well, rolled another two off tonight - two A licenses, 4 (I think) with the white RX-7 doing the circles, and A-6 with the green Jaguar at Midfield. I got two more to gold all the A licenses.

It's not easy, but we're getting there.

I just realized GT3 doesn't have the High Speed Slalom test, either. Now that was an obnoxious test to gold in GT2.

And remember GT2 had special cars that you could only get with license golds? The Del Sol LM (MR layout) was great, and the FTO LM was pretty good.

Congrats to the B8-gold vat_man. From there all it takes is a lot of work to get all golds, the skills is already there.

I discovered the same thing in a long break from gt2 when all I played was Colin2.. It improved my GT-driving a lot..

I always find that some days I'll feel "one with the car", and I'm able to blow everything out of the water. Other days I have diddly for driving. On days like that Crash Team Racing comes out of the case...

Mmmm... Crash Team Racing... Wumpa fruit...

When I get annoyed, GTAVC turns up. Then I spend the next week trying not to hit R1 for the handbrake in GT3... :D
