Well fellows, I've been here for over a year now.
I registered February 10, 2002, having owned GT3 for almost two months (both it and the PS2 were Christmas presents). Back then, it was my one and only PS2 game. It still is.
I came to GTPlanet because, well, it was the first thing that came up on the Google search.
"Very nice website design", I thought when I came. I then skimmed through the forums... "Hmmm, seem like nice people- There don't seem to be many arguments or senseless posts, and these guys have some pretty genuine humor!". I hung around for about a month before registering.
Since then, it has been quite a ride. A lot of things have happened- HMRCWG reached some pretty significant levels, then was closed. A flurry of people left, some have come back. Loudmusic left for some time, but came back in a month or so (
). Jordan added the automotive smilies, which quickly became everybody's signature jewelry. People learned to laught at Klostrophobic's humor (
). I went through a period of time where I made a million and one suggestions for the website to Jordan. Platinum Gamers was formed, and that got a lot of attention here (I have no clue why though). And the clubs, oh the clubs... so many of them. Today, MAZ and The Pass and 'll Foundation remain as the only predominant clubs (and MAZ even has its own forum!). Photoshop competitions became popular, headed mostly by rufrgt_snoopie2001 (I think that's how you spell it).
GTP 5 came along, though a few of us nearly had heart attacks when we found that even the next morning, it still wasn't up.
A number of big changes were made, all of which, in my opinion, have made the forums even better than before.
And, of course, the people- I have met so many great people at this forum. neon_duke, Der Alta, duo17, quattro_bro, sukerkin, GilesGuthrie, M5Power, rufrgt_snoopie, MazKid, milefile, Pako, and many, many others (sorry Klos, you've been excluded
). But, most certainly, the biggest contributor has been Jordan- Thanks to him, I have met people, many parts of my livelihood have been changed (morally and ethically, and of course extended computer use!), I can come to a place where I know there'll be good, well-thought out conversations, I've learned a lot about life in general... and, I've learned more than a thing or two about GT3 (naturally!).
So here's to one year at GTPlanet, and many more to come!
