Do you think there should be an option when creating an online room to force people to use a certin view?
I myself wish i could make everybody use the cockpit view, but i cant so i race in the bumper cam.

please keep it simple and on topic

yes or no and why

While I think it would be nice a idea especially in a proper racing room, I actually prefer using the chase cam online so that I can see the other racers better. Only vehicle I won't do this is with karts, which I use the cockpit cam due to the chase cam feeling so weird with these.

I know it's not realistic, but it allows me to drive cleaner. Offline I use cockpit view though, since the AI is so predictable.

Why does it matter?
to keep it fair for everybody, and just because more options are better, and in serious online league competition it would make more since for everybody to use the same view, and on that thought, it should be cockpit since we are "supposed to be driving a car"

I exclusively use the hood cam, online and off, It allows me to actually see the course and know where the wheels are... let alone another racer.

I do not like the cockpit/interior cam. It's pretty, but it's restrictive. I just do not find it enjoyable. It's not like in reality where I "feel connected" and know where everything is at and easily calculate if someone is beside me or not.

Locked Cam lobbies where awful in Forza. I do not see it being any better in GT.

My 2 cents.

There's a whole thread about this in the Features Suggestion Box, with a lot of opinions.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...se-cockpit-view-online-lobby-settings.298580/

For me, I'd hate it. Some cars have very poor cockpit vision, some have better viewing capabilities. Some drivers love cockpit, some love chase cam, some normal, some roof view even. For those who love cockpit, it might be nice for them to force everyone to have drive the way they like driving, just to gain an advantage.

If I was forced into cockpit view when using a car with limited vision, I'd just leave the lobby. That's just my opinion.

That said, the 25th Anniversary Lamborghini has a great cockpit.

sorry, my bad....i didnt know that there was a thread like this, i should have used the search feature....
but i wasnt just talking about cockpit, i was just saying would it be nice to have an option to force certin views? it could be forced to use any view or just leave the option off so you could use any view you like....since i dont join random lobbies, i only race in online leagues, i think it would be a nice feature to have

I doubt I would force anyone to use any view, but I highly recommend that people in my room use the bumper cam view.

You have to have a usable rear view mirror.

Certainly no cockpit view...
+ My hands are on my wheel in front of me, who's hands are those on the wheel on the TV? CREEPY!!!!

First you need to have an option to adjust the cam inside as you like, not the 3 positions in options, then you need a mirror like the bumper cam and you need a good frame rate in cockpit view also.
Yes, i would like to have that option, but i think we need those things first.

Why not. More options is almost always better. With that said I don't think many would like it. Most people like what they are used to. I personally think each view has it's pros and cons. I also think neither give a decent advantage over the other.

Yes I'd like the option. Mirror should be visible in all views. Fully adjustable cockpit position should also be an option for it to work.

I'd also like to have the option to force on the proximity indicators (to make up for lack of in game peripheral vision). It would help minimise side by side contact especially cornering.

Another one that could be an option to force off is the flashing gear change indicator that advises when to brake. In a true SIM it should be an option. I'm not saying I'd use it much but the option should be there. It would force people to learn where the braking points are for a particular car using visual trackside objects, the way it is done in real life.

I always use cockpit cam these days, I'd not even join a room that forced me to use 'chasecam' or 'arcade cam' as I like to call it... Its like forcing ABS off, you simply won't get many joining and if you did you wouldn't get great racing, it'd be a mess.

so, no. Theres far more important things that need doing first. :indiff:

you can turn off the gear change indicator. Like if I'm in 3rd gear and a turn is coming up and it shows the red colored 2.....that can be turned off

I'm not to fond of the idea. Driving in certain views doesn't make one [person] better than the other! Why restrict it? As long as everyone respects the rules and keeps it clean, how would restricting views help?

I personally like driving in cockpit view majority of the time but at the same time want everyone else to be comfortable in the view they're using - so it's not ideal (for me) to expect everyone to use the same view.

Restricting views would help to level the playing field, as cockpit view is harder to drive with. Having the option to allow/disallow all available views would certainly give race hosts more control over creating events, especially very serious & involved series run on GT Planet.

If you don't want to run in lobbies with restrictions, then don't enter them. I don't like lobbies where chat is enabled, so I just enter lobbies where it is disabled. It would be the same for those who don't want to be restricted to certain views. Simples!

Sooo, people want more options to cater to their own style (as mentioned in numerous threads) now want options to be uniform?? It's even in your sig - "more options". Let's just have that, more options, less forcing!

The "if you don't like restrictions blah blah blah" isn't always a good defense because you're whole "campaign is against forcing/restrictions. So let's say I'm in a "serious & involved series" but I'm accustomed to a certain view, I would now be exempt from the series because of a view that I prefer? I'm still not getting it.

You misunderstand my "campaign" entirely then! I'm asking PD to give us more options, so we can then tailor (restrict) the game to our own liking.

For instance; most people are slower in cockpit view, & faster in bumper cam. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S RAINING! So, if everyone had the same view, they'd all be playing on an equal playing field. If you don't want to do that, then don't enter a lobby, or sign up with a race series using it.

Why should hosts not have the option of setting up their lobby how they like it, just because you don't like one of the restrictions? By that reasoning, no lobby should have any restrictions at all just incase someone doesn't like it!

I don't want to be forced to use cockpit cam, when most of the time you can't see the mirrors, and you only have a small hole of vision. I would definitely use cockpit if I had a 3 screen setup, or there was adjustable FOV.

If I was forced to use a certain view I believe I could live with it, the only view I don´t like to much is the chase cam, but I could use it in a lobby. Well, I use the chase cam to observe body movement thats for tuning the suspension, I dont like it for racing.

For a random room I think it would be better if anyone can use their prefered view, if I would force people to use cockpit cam on the Nordschleife, this would cause more of a disaster rather than making things better. I demand clean racing in my rooms and Im very observative and strict about that, people struggle already, I cannot force them to use a view they are not comfortable with, how would that benefit his/her driving?

But for leagues is another story, I think that here it is very useful as we usually know the tracks and cars we will run and most of us do some training before the "racing day", then of course we are with people we know and maybe have similar skill levels.

I can see this as a good feature for the game, but wouldn´t use it in random rooms.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for restrictions to maintain an even lobby at the same time (OT) views are something I don't think should be restricted. I still don't understand the idea of forcing people to use [let's just say] cockpit view, it's not an ideal view - at all. But hey, to each their own.

EDIT: I understand your campaign perfectly.

I guess it would be for the hardcore sim racer types who want to know that everyone is on the same page. Like @Flaco13 said, it wouldn't be so good for random lobbies. If I had the option to restrict to cockpit view, my lobby would read; "Pro Clean. 100% Sim" or similar. That way people would know what to expect. I once entered a lobby in GT5 called "Cockpit View No Hud", I set my screen options up as requested & had lots of fun! Would be nicer to know that everyone else had too, & not just rely on the word of others. If we had that option, they'd be no shadow of a doubt.

Yes, thanks, I know that but we are talking about enabling hosts to be able to turn it off for everyone in the room if they want to, thus leveling the playing field. Most hosts probably wouldn't use it but it could be handy.

And regarding driving using the cockpit I agree that most people are a little slower with cockpit mode but it would be great to have the option to ensure everyone used it as @VBR described. Let's face it the cockpit gets in the way of our view in real life too. For those looking to simulate with as much realism as possible then all the options should be there for a host/series organiser.

Ultimate test would be
All aids including abs off
Cockpit view only
Head Up Display off
Gear indicator / braking warning off

It's a great way to really get to know a circuit.

These sort of options might not attract that many looking for a quick race but may prove popular for those running regular competitions/series/leagues/clubs organised between friends and through sites like GTPlanet. Giving people choices is what PD need to do much more.
