XBOX_is_GAY!!!!
hello ladies and gentlemen, my names dave, i live in australia, and im embarking a voyage into online gaming, so my my venture is minimal, mainly hanging around gt5, mw3, black-ops, all the main ps3 titles basically, however, i have just been given an x-box 360 with forza 4, and personally being a gt loyalist, ive been a bit hesitant on the venture, also im looking into pc online gaming, my questions are, is forza 4 as good or better then gt5 with everything, gaming online, communities, forums etc??? and pc gaming im look buy a gaming pc or laptop, so far i have dicovered Alienware, and the asus laptops, i fell in love with the alienware product, but, every sales person tells you its the ducks guts just to make a sale, which is better???? if not these then what else is there??? feedback would be much appreciated,

I find Forza more enjoyable based on my time with it.

As for building a PC, it is fairly straight forward and their are plenty of how to videos on it. Plus things are basically color coded and all slotted to only fit a certain way. The bigger concern is parts working with each other, but a place like Tom's Hardware can help with build ideas and what parts provide a solid value for your money.

Personally, I enjoy GT more than Forza. Another thing to consider is PSN is free and you'll have to pay to play online with Live. And before you have all the people coming in here to say that Live is so much better, stable and faster so it's worth the price, I've not noticed any difference between Live and PSN in the years I've been using both. If your internet sucks you'll be slow on both, if you have good internet you'll be good on both. Live just has a few more creature comforts (cross game chat) but as far as the services they are pretty much identical.

As for PC's, like the other have stated, you're better off building one yourself.

im not cpu minded, but building my own pc never really crossed my mind, something i will look into for the future, but for now, im more looking toward an off the shelf laptop as i work around the country, fly here drive there, unless its possible to build a laptop? im not cpu literate, but building one would be something for home, and i would find the experience enjoyable, i like learning and building, lol, the other issue i have is that from experience that the cpu world evolves everyday, and by the time i actually finished this product it would most likely be out dated, with the finance rental programs in aus, you can upgrade your pc/ laptop every 3 months at no extra charge, hence why i was heading that direction,

as for forza online, they make you pay to play? wtf is up with that? is that just forza or the x-box online? is there DLC for it?

thanks for replying guys,

You have to pay for XBOX online, but it's better than PSN, in my opinion.

There's a lot of DLC for Forza. It won't disappoint.

Forza vs GT discussions always end in a mess, no matter how well intended, both are great games but I've always been a GT fan personally, I'm sure it is worth you trying Forza though.

Alienware computers were once the most desired computer in the world, beautiful designs and great specs. The problem is that they tended to cost a lot more than comparable systems from other companies, or self built systems. I do believe Alienware is actually owned by Dell computers now. Alienware these days have a massive reputation for being overpriced and many people frown apon them, you're unlikely to get good value for money, but that doesn't mean they are bad products. Do some more research first, pop into the computers forum.

so paying for it makes it better? is the DLC free or is that charged extra?

as a game i respect both for what they do, i have played a little forza offline, and honestly, some things ive seen happen are great, like making a sierra cosworth AWD, but then seeing the old school skline GTR get around te track with virtually no brakes sorta steered my away from purchasing the product,

yeah i know the alienware products i thought were a bit pricey, however, the asus competition to it was only $2 cheaper, all gaming laptops that i have seen so far only vary in approx $300, hence why what i have seen so far is to hard to choose, as i dont really know that im getting the best bang for my buck, i know dell offer 24 hr online/ hotline help free with any dell product, no matter how old as long as you register ownership of the product when purchased, asus im not to sure of, i have heard numerous problems with the screen connection and keyboard issues, and i dont know if these are true or a one off or iron out, as i said im not computer literate i just want the better bang for the buck, and to enjoy my online experience to its fullest,

There are more features with Xbox Live. Like party chat. You can talk with friends no matter what game they're playing.

The DLC is extra. I think $7 for 10 cars. Google Forza 4 DLC packs and see what they come with. :)

how many DLC packs have been released? have they done tracks also?

12 DLCs including a 30 car Porsche pack, but no track packs. With every Car Pack there is a free car and there have been multiple free DLCs. Like the brand new Viper.

that sounds pretty cool,

that sounds pretty cool,

But you have to ask yourself this, Is it worth investing all this money into forza and its multiple DLC's when you will get not to dissimilar physics and feel from Outrun 2.

That was ment jokingly ofcourse:P, But what you need to do is work out what means more to you. If Physics and feel is what your after, Then out of these two, GT5 wins hands down. But if Better DLC's and a shinier menu system means more, Forza is the game for you.

hence why im a huge fan of the gt franchise, all the base models for all the cars on the game were in actual fact tested, hence why i asked the question, im not a rich bloke, and i cant believe that x-box would charge you for really nothing, unless there was sweet f/a lag, in any room at any given time,

As some other guys have alluded to above, The one big advantage for LIVE is the cross game chat. Other than that, Im like you, I cant see where your subscription fee would be going either. Even though i rather PS3 and PSN i think you cant really blame microsoft for charging you for nothing when you would be using their service and populating their server. After all it was SONY that broke the mould by making their online gaming service free, Not MICROSOFT taking a free service and then charging for it. Im not justifying them charging for it, I think PSN's system is way better with the free base, then optional PSN+ service, but i hope you understand what i mean. 👍

definate, plus the psn is easier to navigate,

GT5's physics don't win hands down. Plus every car in Forza is premium quality. No standard crap.

This isn't a GT5 v FM4 debate. Let's just drop the discussion before the OP gets his thread closed. :)

@OP: Asus is a great brand. They are highly regarded in the PC community and I personally love their products and customer support. Obviously, there are always exceptions and the consumers who have bad experiences or receive the <1% of defective hardware are always going to be more vocal than the happy consumers.

You cannot build your own laptop with a minimum knowledge of hardware.

I would suggest an Asus laptop with an Nvidia 6xxM series GPU.

What is your price range? What features are you looking for?

$1500 670M < I suggest this one.

Err wannabe mod much?, Take a look at the very first post and you will find this sentence.

The OP had a legitimate question to ask. So how can you post that "Drop this disscussion" nonsense when you were the first to answer with this............

1- Forza is better.

2- Build your own PC.

Hmm.......

cool thanks, its not that cash isnt a problem, but i dont mind paying the extra $2-$400 to get the right product, but as i said everything here is competitively priced, like the difference between the alienware and asus is $2 on the shelf, what is asus tech support like?

perhaps ive opened a can of worms here, lol, im sure if you kept the cars true to life the handling would be, the reason i always went gt was because it is the real driving simulator, the only thing that floats me to forza is the v8 supercars, and the graphics are pretty good too, but i think im only going to play online till my gold passes expire, then it will more then likely collect dust, but im going to give forza a go, not a half chance like other games ive played,

Of course theres nothing wrong with playing both, But it sounded like it was either one or the other for you i thought :P. Theres no doubt that forza has the more up to date car list, But as i said before it all depends what matters most to you individually. (unless you dicide on both)👍

But still, forza's physics:crazy:

Tech support is fine.

Get the Asus. It is much better quality than the Dell.

You might check your local Best Buy as well and see if they have that model. That you can take it for a test drive first.

That's exactly what i'm saying and many others agree with me, but i'll stop. ;)

 Ok we'll stop, I can only spend to much time guessing if your being serious or joking about. Although i have to say im edging towards the latter. Bye:rolleyes:.

lol, id love too, my nearest "local" best buy is a $6000 plane trip away, i could just buy both, lmao, yeah i think im gonna go with the asus, they offer the same tech support as dell but with perks, ie, they will send a tech guy to try fix my product at my house, if it cant be fixed here, they ship it free, and return it free of charge, and the warranty is longer, but once the warranty runs out they charge for any tech support, be it phone/ online etc, which gets my goat but hey, i dare say the computer will be obsolete by then so time to upgrade, thanks:)

Ah, apologies. Didn't see you were from the land down under.

I would have brought up the "pay for customer service" aspect of Dell/Alienware but I assumed you noticed that. Another reason I don't like them...

That laptop is pretty stacked feature wise. I don't see you needing to upgrade for several years.

But, you won't be disappointed with that Asus. All the reviews / OCN forum members I've seen have said that its a great laptop and a beast of a build quality wise. Enjoy it. Let us know how it goes.
