Has any one been in a online race when the text feed at the side goes blank and something like "Virus Downloading 20%" is in the feed instead.

What is this?

Is it bad?

It's just a very old chat prank. Nothing to worry about.

Just a prank. I do it some times, typing out random error codes to confuse people or making it look as though someone else is typing the message.

A friend of mine ones kept typing it out to make it look as though another person was making rude comments about himself until he messed one up and the person figured out who was doing it and asked my friend be kicked for hacking him. As soon as my friend was kicked me and another friend of mine continued doing the same thing to him. He eventually left. lol

One of the oldest pranks in the book that. In fact in the Middle Ages, Monks used to write an entire book consisting of all the same word repeated over and over. As a joke they would then give this book as a gift to a Bishop on a ceremonial day of note. You can imagine his face when he would open it to find all the words saying "Thou Mother" over several hundred pages. But the Bishop would often retort by mentioning it only took him a minute to see that and it took the Monk a couple of years in his best quilled script and decorative calligraphy to complete the work. So really the joke was on him. Which makes the analogy to this text hack in GT5 somewhat sidelined, thus the joke being on me for taking the time to write it, but also you for reading it.

👍 Brilliant! :)

Great, so now I guess that it can be expected to see everyone doing this now. I agree with previous post..."as if online play wasn't bad enough already".
