I saw some post and I have the feeling that some driver is not racing with stock settings... is anybody here that can confirm? thanks
IMHO the online features are quite good.
Sure they can improve it and I am pretty sure they'll do that.
If you find the right, fair, people then it's a lot of fun.
It is my understanding that:
1) we have 52 recommended cars available to race online
2) we can add other ones selecting them from favorites (event though I never tried)
3) we cannot tune the car in the lounge (the tuning button is not active)
4) the cars are used as they are , no car upgrade available
My only doubt, at the moment is this point 4.

The host has too much power should all be a vote imho, at the moment they have power to set the rules to suit themselves and kick you if you are winning or richer or have better cars and crash you when you are vulnerable or defending a position/line. Example my speed 12 outhandles their rubbish prize veyron and dodges the crash attempt to take the lead then boom I get kicked. Happens too often for my liking but there are rooms out there that are respectful and race clean for the joy/fun of racing not just to win at all costs.

I or my friends have a nightly room with usually with 4-7 of us and then whoever else joins in. Had almost a full room last night running different HP restrictions each race and even a few shuffle matches. For the most part everyone got along, wasn't any crying about tires etc... If you want more restrictions than make your own room and set them. You can't expect a host to use the settings you want just because you joined their room.
Myself I don't understand the desire to want to use crappy tires for racing. The whole point of racing is to reach the goal as fast as possible is it not? I know I know "it's a simulator!" blah blah blah...No it's not. It's a racing game that has a "sim" physics engine. If it were a sim then I could pump out 700+hp out of the DC5R and not the measly 330 that the game lets me...
There is great fun to be had online, you just need to find a good group of people to play with and not worry about matching up to random baddies who don't race how you like to.
No one is talking about "crappy" tyres, but tyres that matches the car's performance. Why on earth would you put soft racing tyres on a Miata, Acura RSX, RX-8 etc?
My point just is: Why do you have to find a group of people and race with them everytime? And how would you meet them, if you can't connect to any lobbies in the game? To get the most out of online racing you have to find som "events" on forums, and I hate to use a PC just to race on the PS3...
I'm not sure of your question, but I regularly enter my personally-tuned vehicles in races. *shrugs* They're favorites from my garage.
People just need to learn how to drive online I feel, so annoying when someone just shunts you clean out of the way because they didn't bother breaking.

I'm quite happy about gt5 even though I have the feeling pd spent 4 years in designing 200 premium cars, 1,5 years to improve the physics and about 0,5 years for all the rest. I think pd just delivered a half finished game were some parts are not propperly thought through.
But back on track. I think gt5 online playing is not worse than online playing in other games. But I think in other games the people are older and not that childish and not making that much rubbish like blocking the road after a blind turn. That might be because gt5 has no age restriction. In games like cod you are legally allowed to buy/play the game with an age of >18 which may be one reason why you find a lot less children in such games. (I don't say there are no children in cod 🤬 around and ruining the game for others, but there are less). I also think that it's more likely that parents buy their kids a racing game to fool around than an ego shooter.
So gt5 is a game which is also played by a lot of kids and guess what, kids behave childish and ruine the game for adults if they want to race clean. Just think back to your childhood. Did you want to race a prius or a ***** tuned veyron. Did you want to stay on track or try do drift a turn? Would you brake for someone you don't know or try to see how far can you push him into the sand?
