Finally got my psp online, downloaded the bonus cars and a GT theme, but how do I add friends to it, to race online/trade etc?

There is no online play for Gran Turismo on the PSP unfortunately, there is only ad-hoc/local multiplayer and trading.

I heard that you can play ad hoc online if you have a PS3.

I've never tried it though and I don't know the name of the app to download.

ADHOC PARTY for PS3. It fools the PSP system that your PSP can adhoc over the internet. the same which works for XLINK KAI app for the PC. It fools the PSP system that you're playing adhoc multiplayer with someone not in the same room.

And Adhoc Party is free for download on PSN. Just need to have your PS3 hooked up to the internet with a cable, then your PSP connects to the PS3 via wireless.
