Is it just me or is online racing on this game the worst thing I've ever seen I was playing for almost 2 hours before I even got a real race they should go back to the prologue style

Don't agree, but true you can be preparing for a race quite long. Generally there are several lounges where there are regular races.

I've had great luck and good times online. If we could just get everyone to calm down on the first few corners while running Nurburgring, would be better. Overall, online has been my most enjoyable experience with GT5.

Is it just me or is the GT5 section of this forum the worst I've ever seen? You can browse for like 2 hours without finding a real thread or reading a real opinion or question. They should go back to how GTPlanet used to be...

Huh, better the way it is, the players make their own races, far more better than a bunch of limitations. Limitations in online play ruins the experiances.

Online is pretty much the only thing fun gameplay wise in GT5. I suppose no other games ever have idiot hosts, or away hosts, or gabby hosts. Generally if you avoid rooms that say things like "Free Run" or "Track Day" or "Test n Tune" or "WhoWantsMyGTR" or "Drift Practice" you get a race within 10 minutes. Joining rooms that have their green light on is probably a good way to find an active room too. Sometimes it can be hard to find the exact kind of race you want, but so it goes with anything.

Well, you got to differ between race and those tuning rooms, etc. Why join a test n tune room if you want to race for real? Like people joining drag rooms and want to circuit racing. If some one mention racing in my drag room, i kick that person, because he is at the wrong place.

Well you and I might understand that, but as you said... that hardly stops people from constantly coming in and saying "cmon START alrdy" over and over.

If you want a real race, with about 50 minutes of on track action per hour guaranteed, then try THIS!

👍

If you're looking for good clean racing with a difference have a look at our thread you might like.

There use to be a lot more people online before the big PSN outage. Some are still recovering from that, plus the natural progression of people moving to new games, or just moving on from GT5 in general.

I'm actually tired of this kind of commenting and thread creation, you played online for 2 hours and couldn't find a room with good races? Seriously? It's not up to others to create something for you, the onus is on you to do it yourself. I'm pretty sure you came across PSN tags with acronyms and if you thought about it logically the acronyms usually means a team of sorts and if you wanted to find good races you would have at least queried the users with acronyms in his tag or greeting. A few simple moves would have saved you quite a bit of time if you bothered to try it.

I just hope we really get matchmaking in this next update. I can't be bothered to search through a cluttered list of rooms to find the kind of race I want and then waiting on the host when I only want to just jump in and have a few quick races.

Match making would be awesome, but I don't mind the current one. It is better off come prepared with the car you are going to use before entering a room. Go enter the rooms where racing is already in progress so you can just wait until it is over rather than entering a room without the green lit and finding out that the race is about to start, but you couldn't join the race because your map is still loading.

The picking have been slimmer since the great outage, that's for sure. I can't find anyone who wants to race on anything but racing softs! :-/

I personally have had some good times online. Once you make a friends list with others that race clean and have same taste in cars, tracks, etc. Thats when it becomes the most fun. Sometimes you have those who want to cause problems in a room. But overall I have had alot of fun online. Im at the point in the game were the endurance races are the only ones I havent done yet. Thats only because of time issues. Thats when I started racing online on regular basis.

Prologue style sucked, It was impossible to find a "specific" room and it was really hard to play with friends... I tend to avoid rooms online that are similar to..

Honda Boyz/dudez/racing/only
Trade/Givemecar
X1s only
GLITCHHH$$$$$

Online racing is the best thing about this game.

I'm sick of hearing people whine for match making. I have no problem with it by itself but is a very very poor replacement for the options and freedom we have right now with lobbies.

Impatient, short sighted, people are exactly what caused all of the modern shooters to adopt match making only systems and abandon the lobbies that created their communities.

I dont want to see that happen with GT5.

Take a little time. Create a room yourself. Visit the online section of this forum. There are good (great actually) online rooms out there.

Nobody said anything about replacing Open Lobby. If you look at the GT5 manual, you will see that Open Lobby and Matchmaking are two separate modes, so I'm pretty sure Open Lobby will always be there. Regardless, matchmaking is a feature they promised, so they must add it.

I don't really have a problem with the current system. But sometimes, I just want to jump in and have a quick game instead of waiting around. If we had online events added like in Prologue, that would be great.

True; he can also create his own race room and see who joins.

You have to be willing to host too :)
