This series is currently unofficial (at least at this point in time).

With the release of GT5 soon upon us on the 24/25th of November, I have decided to announce plans for a semi-competitive Track Day series. With the inclusion of an online mode for the first time in a main series Gran Turismo game, this series will be one of the first series to take advantage of the online mode.

This series will be run on either a Friday or Saturday night starting at approx. 7:30pm in the session hosts’ time zone. There will be a different session for each region/continent and if there is more than enough interest there will be more sessions held for the region. There will either be two 1 hour sessions or one 2 hour session.

You can enter any car (there are exceptions to this such as the Red Bull X1) in the trackday. You can choose a different car every week or stay in the same car which would be helpful if you are tuning. Tracks will be chosen by poll, with 5 different tracks being polled each week. Tracks will not be repeated until there are less than 5 in the poll that haven’t been used. Course Maker tracks may be used as well (if they can be played online).

There are no points scored towards championships or whatsoever in this series. The main aim of the track day series is to help with driving techniques, to learn the track, to improve your skills and have some fun. However there is a competitive element to the series in the fact that the times in each session will be recorded and posted later in the weekend. To encourage diversity in car choices there will be a number of different categories. These will be decided according to power-to-weight ratio.

Standard GTP online rules apply and drivers must pay extra attention due to the faster and slower cars on the track. You don’t need to have a GTP_ tag/ID to enter this series. You don’t have to enter each week, you can enter only one week if you want to. Session hosts will be chosen on the quality of their internet connection. To check the speed and ping of your connection go to speedtest.net. Headsets are not needed but it is recommended that you have one (you can just use a cheap bluetooth phone headset which you can pick up for as little as AUD$15). Everyone in the session will be invited to a text chat.

If you have any suggestions or questions in relation to this series just post them in this thread.

I'd be up for that for sure, make sure you address all this as unofficial until you get the praise/approval of a moderator.

When I get a PS3 and GT5 and I still have broadband by then I may be interested.

good idea im in
i have a question is it the slower car there schould move out of the racing line or is it the faster car

I'm definitely up for this, all I'll have to say is look out for a highly tuned White RX7 xD
Especially if the track is Tsukuba. I'll be tuning the living daylights out of the RX7 on Tsukuba just like I did in GT4 :)
But I'll be wanting to drive around other tracks/cars too so I'd be interested

Preferably its the slower car that gets out of the racing line but sometimes on the straights the faster car might tuck in behind the slower car to gain a tow and then pass it off the racing line. Mostly its about paying attention to whats happening around you

fantastic idea :)
feel free to add me GTP_SOHNVONSTIG
look out for a baby blue MR2 MKII :D or an elise.... :)

I don't think I will run a track day this weekend, mainly because of server loads and the fact that there isn't much time left to organise it.

It won't. It's just a get-together every week and show off your cars and times. That's what I'm guessing. Anyways I have a lovely skyline in''super black'' on gtpsp. I can't wait to show it to you guys.

If there is one this weekend i will try and make it. are they going to be public?

The first trackday will hopefully take place either today or tomorrow. Please post what times would be best for you. There are no restrictions on cars so bring anything you want. At the end there will be a short race so the replay can be saved for photos.

The tracks that you can choose from this week are:

Tsukuba
Cape Ring Periphery
Eiger Nordwand/Change Weather
Le Sarthe 2009/Change time/weather
Deep Forest Reverse

Please order these tracks so the track you want to drive on gets 5 points, all the way down to 1 point for the track you least want to drive on

saturday it will be best around 9:00 PM
sunday will be best 5:30 pm i are in timezone GMT +1 hour
My votes on tracks

Le Sarthe 2009/Change time/weather 5 points
Cape Ring Periphery 4 points
Tsukuba 3 points
Deep Forest Reverse 2 points
Eiger Nordwand/Change Weather 1 point

Tsukuba 5
Le Sarthe 2009/Change time/weather 4
Eiger Nordwand/Change Weather 3
Cape Ring Periphery 2
Deep Forest Reverse 1

Maybe there should be a HP limit.

why its not a race? and on all the trackdays ive did in real life they don't have hp limits.....

Cape Ring 5
Deep Forest 4
Tsukuba 3
Eiger 2
Sarthe 1
well really sarthe 0 but thats not an option is it :)

I can do any time today or tomorrow really, but sometime between 5pm and 12 am est today would be best for me. There shouldnt be any hp limit, but we should say faster cars pass on the left like they have at nurburgring.

I'm sorry, I didn't grasp the concept of a track day. I get it now.
Have fun 👍

Don't worry about it,like stig said the race would be just to save the reply and get some pictures from photomode.

Most trackdays i got to we take my friend's 650bhp evo 7 saloon race car and you can get everything down to a fiat panda 100.

Due to lack of organisation on my behalf (spent too much time playing GT5 as well as watching motorsport and forgot about organising these track days) the first track day will be postponed until next weekend (when I'll have alot more free time). The same track votes will be used and this will hopefully give us a chance of getting more people involved. As well as this I'm planning to have two track days each weekend.

Only a day or two until the trackday so it is time to start finalising your car choices.

I'm thinking of running this in a public lobby so we can get more numbers. Do you think this is a good or bad idea?
