Still, how do you know the sexual orientation of Enzo Ferrari? If I'm not mistaken, he's dead.
And he had a wife, until she died and he went crazy.

No, you cannot die of HIV either. You die of "OI" - Opportunistic Infections. Generally these take the form of cancers - like Kaposi's Sarcoma which has a 10x prevalence in AIDS sufferers, or one of the more common ones. 'Flu - leading to pneumonia - is indeed a common OI though.
famine shut up. your vast knowledge is very much appreciated. however your point about not being able to die from aids although factually correct is blatently wrong. people dying of aids are dying because they have aids. if they didn't these stupid opportunistic infections could be tackled with ease.

this is not a flame, i just hate schoolboy talk when i see it :odd:

as for enzo ferrari, some guy said about him (was it ferrucio lamborghini?) that as a businessman he is excellent but as a human being he is a zero.

im sure he was a megalomaniac, and a maniac :odd:

 factually correct and blatently wrong at the same time? Only Famine could be that clever! :p

Why should he? I learned a few things just from that one post of his, and I bet plenty of other people did too. You should readily accept knowledge, not shove it away.

That said, I'll go along with what several people said at the beginning of the thread – At least it was driven, and driven hard. I'd be in some grief if that were mine though (no, PR, not because of the reason you're thinking! ;)).

Actually, I think you'll find it's degree-level molecular biology talk.

AIDS - Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome - is not terminal. HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus - the virus thought to cause AIDS is also not terminal. People do not die from HIV or AIDS. They die because they are immunocompromised and susceptible to the so-called "Opportunistic Infections" which we non-immunocompromised people can fight off easily.

Other immunocompromised people die from OIs as well - transplant patients are routinely given immunosuppressants to ward off the possibility of organ rejection. When they die - usually of pneumonia - their cause of death isn't listed as "Transplant" or "Immunosuppressive drugs", but "Pneumonia".

People cannot die from AIDS. They die of diseases caught as a result of AIDS. AIDS itself is not a disease, but a syndrome. And not everyone who suffers from AIDS actually dies (well, obviously they do eventually - of old age or bus) - the triple-drug therapy works in some cases.

I have the feeling that this topic is close to you in some respect - so I apologise if I have upset you in any way as a result. But everything I have said is absolutely true.

As a further aside, there are at least 3 different types of HIV - called HIV-1, HIV-2 and HIV-0. HIV-1 is the one we all know as "HIV" and has a pretty much 100% AIDS prognosis. HIV-0 has an elavated prevalence in East Africa and only leads to AIDS in 5% of cases AND will protect the sufferer from infection by HIV-1. This is the current cause of much interest in the world of AIDS research.

As far as I'm aware, it's similar to HIV-1 - but I'd have to check on BIDS-ISI or WoS to tell you for sure.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see it stated anywhere that it was driven hard. Looks to me like he ran into the back of an SUV or something :p
