Opinion on Audi's new "Face"

I know it is Audi's new corporate face for their lineup, I just think it is really ugly...the grill going past for front bumper and down to the facia...it looks even worse on the larger audi's like the A6 and A8.....

It looks feminine and ugly, not what you want for a performance oriented sedan. A good performance sedan should look imposing, yet refined. Exactly what the new Audi grille is not.

I think it takes getting used to, but I certainly don't think it's ugly.

It does look more imposing, the old Audi grilles are rather nondescript. I've seen some of those new A3's running around and they look pretty decent, although I think they don't all have that style Grille front bumper merging look. Although i'm not a big fan of that A3 sportback. I didn't even know they made 4 door A3's I thought they were only two door untill somebody told me who was looking at buying one.

I saw a A6 coming up behind me at the lights the other day - it certainly looks aggresive and imposing, i rather like it. Like MistaY said - it beats the bland older style.

I don't think it looks feminine at all, even less when you compare the new A6 with its predecessor, it has a meaner look. My favorite design for a german luxury sedan was the 5 series, but with the new generation I like the A6 better.

As for the front grille, new bimmers kidney grilles with chrome are IMO way more ugly than this...

AFAIK, the RS6 has the older style grille. Maybe that's why it looks good! The new A6 range doesn't have a 'R' model yet.

They are looking for a new sense of direction. We have been building cars for about 15 years on the basic "1st gen Taurus" look, smooth, but not daring. Today, I knind of think of it like the early '50's, where there were a lot of unique designs floating around. Some will stick, some will sink.

Designers just need to hit upon the Coke-bottle shape again.

Its is definitely better than the style of the early 80's.
