Optional track day traffic on SS route X would be awesome...

One thing could spice up this DLC enough for me to buy: put some randomized traffic like in F4 Track day sessions. Now, imagine a race with some friends blazing through randomized traffic.

They defiantly have enough slow, random, eco family sedans in this game to simulate that. I dont think PD wants to simulate street racing....being illegal and all. Thats just me speaking for them though...only my thoughts. Would be fun though dodging all the prius and leafs lol.

Interesting idea, and vk56dehan has a point. Though, I'm not sure I'd want to dodge a Prius. ;)

I don't know if something like that could be supported in GT5 with all the other things we have. Online is glitchy enough. :)

If your talking about AI overload (dont know what to call it), they could just make it so there is only 5-6 cars within view that just randomly regenerates as you pass though that specific line of view at any point in time. GTA does this too. Sorry if that is confusing...made sense in my head.

That's the way I would see it: always 1 to 15 cars (a bit less for a multiplayer race) in your bubble/perimeter vision (1-3 km behind or ahead of you). Only standards cars would surely add even more cars at the same time... Random traffic would be the main trick to really make the repetition of this challenge enjoyable.

Be a lot better suited to the Nurb. Or any other track really.

It makes sense- what will not make sense is the complain we'll see from GTPers regarding the AI of these cars without realising that it's scripted rather than AI driven.

Nurb would be great too, but this could simulate some sort of autobhan/highway traffic which suits very finely this very long multi-line oval.

If stated in (big) letter beforehand, I don't see the fuzz about it... "this traffic is randomized and without AI parameters"

True...that is something I was thinking about. They would be as if they were drones with no response to anything.

As we all know, there are still many that would complain and consider it a waste of time on PDs side.

@vk56dehan ... which would be even better to put MORE cars in your vision perimeter!

I like the idea. TBH, I think we need this option... populated trackdays. We had something like that on GT4 no?

Traffic on the ring would be awesome. They need to allow cars of ANY PP to be part of the traffic though.

That would be great. Imagine cruising the 'ring in a stock 458, and then a McLaren F1 comes steaming up behind you, trying to overtake.

The only bad part is that it would probably be limited to 15 cars of traffic, and on a track like SSRX or the Ring, there would be too much room between the cars.

Not if you use the Bubble Vision idea (used in many air simulator for example): any car in your vision perimeter (1-5 km front and rear) is visible, any car outside disappear from views and are just computed as numbers... this way, you can have hundreds of cars (but only 1 to 15 are visible to you at any time)... Of course, it would be ways to add even more cars if you remove the complex AI by a very simple one or a script.

I forget if it was the Special challenges for the Mercedes-Benx challeneges on the Nurburgring, or if it was a license challenege, but I remember that they had simulated traffic on the Nurburgring (sort of, more like 15 other cars scattered about on the Ring), but it was kinda cool having to dodge all of them.

OP - Have you seen Wangan Midnight by any chance? Route X is based on the Wangan motorway in Japan, where a LOT of 200mph+ street racing goes on..

No, Special Stage Route 7 is loosely based on the Wangan, not Route X

@MOTORTRENDmitch: More options the better, don't you think? it would avoid some boredom. Especially on a road like SS Route X... GT doesn't have to become NFS and by the way, won't you love a NFS with GT physics? it would be a blast!

I can agree with that

I'd love it if GT could have that track day option to it, it's probably the most attractive thing I saw on Forza 4. But as mentioned, it would be great to be overtaken as well as doing the overtaking. It probably isn't something that can be thrown into an update unfortunately(if we want more than 16 cars) but I hope it is in PD's plans for the GT6.

Honestly though, just a field of 16 randomly changing cars at a time would be cool. Say a Golf is out there, then it pits and a say a Saleen comes onto the track. There might be 5 cars on track or the whole 15 plus you. It would be a pretty cool experience in my eyes just like an online free run, but without the glitching... or idiots deliberately trying to spin you or driving the wrong way. :-)

GT4 had a kinda track day thing, there'd be cars on the track already and you'd start in the pits.

They should be add the ability to do a race in GT mode, instead of having to exit to arcade mode.

With a challenge slider. I used to love putting it to the bottom then pushing the AI driven Life Step van up to 150+mph down Mulsanne.

I LOVED this, especially because the AI actually pulled to the right when you were passing, if I remember correctly.

I've got to admit, it would be cool to have. The track reminds me of this:
chesapeake-bay-bridge-tunnel.jpg

It's the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel near Virginia Beach. Been across it a fair amount of times, and the bridge part of the track is a lot like it.
