I saw that yesterday, and was about to post it... Glad he survived, but he did a favor to that poor thing. The only 350Z uglier than this one is Veilside's.

He almost saved it, too. Had he not scrubbed off speed that quickly, i don't think he'd have survived.

Exactly my thoughts. Some kid on the RX7club forum keeps saying how Dai is an idiot for down-shifting, and he should of let the car "coast" down to speed...

The tire that failed was provided by Michelin for this *type of race.

Another car, a late 80's Camaro, was using the same brand/model of tire, and he also had a premature tire failure.
It was at a much lower rate of speed though.

 What the hell happened?

The speedo looked like it was around 325 km/h so that's around 200 MPH top speed and around 160 when he crashed?

..How uncool.I can see the JUN stickers all over..but aren't JUN cars usually that Yellow? Anyways, that had to suck..going 300 Km/h (Close to 180mph.) and then what..flipping over a couple times? Yeah..sucks.

Crap!!! It won't work!!!

I have DivX 2.0 but for some reason it opens up in Windows Media Player. It'll start to play but as soon as the car gets off the line and a little down the road the video freezes. It continues to play b/c the player thing (you know. the little peg that moves across the bar) keeps moving but no video!!!

Why does this always happen to me?!?

Dear God. Thank goodness the driver came out ok. That is one horrendous crash. If you listen closely, his engine sounds like it blew a chamber, therefore causing the engine to die. I don't know what happened exactly, but I would say a bent rod, blown valve, connecting rod bent, or maybe a piston cracked or had a hole blown through it.

You brought this back to say that? It was in the Silver State Classic race, it flipped 7 miles from the starting line at 120 mph, he slowed down from 201 mph. The right rear tire blew.

It was a Bridgestone.

In case anyone is still interested, I can see if I can dig up the issue of Option (BTW, it's not "Options", it's just "Option") that has the info about the crash. It had a bunch of good pics showing the extent of the damage to the car.
