Right, so basically if (pre 2.10) you had "FR car A" and "MR car B" at 500pp, the MR car would probably be a little more dominate. Now with 2.10, "FR car A", while the actual specs haven't changed, is rated at a lower PP and wouldn't be paired against the MR car But now "FR car C", which was in a higher class before, is now dropped down to 500pp and more competitive with the MR car.

In theory, it should work. And it's a basic enough thing that hopefully it actually does work. This would explain why limiting to a single powertrain seemed to result in better PP pairings. It could be promising, especially for public rooms and it might make simple, unstructured racing a lot easier. Looks like I'll have to expand my testing parameters. :dopey:

Actually, no...lol. In theory you would think that's what they would do, in practice however, never forget this isn't Apple we're dealing with it's PD. It looks as if they just picked some cars to favour and others not in spite of needing. Some have been altered so dramatically, they went from being average to completely dominating. Apparently the Supra RZ can't be beat at 500PP now. The Yellowhat Supra GT500 car now has way more HP than any other car in it's class (reported 650 vs. typical 500ish). PP being equal.

I think they actually made the PP system worse to be honest...:crazy:

first of all guy's, sorry for not attending, ORCA_CHAMP never confirmed my FR so I couldn't attend anyway,

Is this true JP? I have to look into this, as what were some very even car's in the GT500 T/P series may be far to different now,

I thought I had accepted you, I did accept several and thought I had added all the new people but perhaps yours was not one of them. My sincere apologies.

The response to the PP changes that I've seen so far has not been very positive. Of course most people tend to fly off the handle and declare that anything new or different is bad, so I usually take that with a grain of salt, but from the sounds of it they may actually be right this time. :ouch:

It is true, would I lie to you Dave?:sly: Along with the huge boost to the Supra, seems some of the older GT500's got a boost (at least 1 is over 600 hp now at 600pp) the Weider got a boost but a small one, most of the Premiums stayed the same, older NSX's stayed the same.

I can understand boosting the Supra for example, it was not as competitive as many of the current cars but 150 hp at 600PP is a joke. Boosting the Weider makes no sense as it's probably the best handling of all the Premiums. It's obviously not done logically, more of a shooting darts with a blindfold on sort of thing.
 
This is one of the major reasons I don't want to do regularly scheduled points racing anymore. Imagine having to adapt to something like this in the middle of a season where points are on the line. And this kind of thing happens all the time, some random update appears that fundamentally changes some crucial aspect of the game and sends us all scrambling. Ugh. Doing these one-or-two off races like we did with the touring cars kind of sidesteps this issue and allows us to adapt on the fly.

So.....did just the PP formula change or did some cars actually receive more/less horsepower? I'm seeing people say that some cars have "gained 150hp", but it's not clear if those cars actually have more power than before or if it's just that at a given PP range there is a much wider gap between cars now.
 
The PP balance isn't there for a lot of cars, just for example,

Motegi GT500 TT, prior to 2.10
Amoracing_97, Takata Dome NSX '03 1.45.222
Me, YMS Supra '05, 1.49.8XX
Me, HSV weider '11, 1.48.9XX

POST 2.10,
YMS Supra, 1.44.4XX
Amoracing_97 1.45.222
Me HSV 1.48.2XX

This most recent update gave the Supra's quite an advantage over the field now, they now max out at 592PP with full tuning, big turbo etc, the HSV dropped 9PP at almost max tuning,
NASCAR's have dropped 72PP with super speedway setup's, and still maxed out achieve less then 600PP,
There doesn't appear to be a balance there anymore,

Overall summary is: It's messed up.

Were those times without changing anything on the car from before 2.10? Meaning, the same settings and parts yielded these differences in lap times? Or did you change/add parts to try to get back to a certain PP?

Yeah. It seems like the "angry mob" may not have gone overboard this time. If even half of what they're posting is accurate it could have some pretty serious ramifications on how the majority of people race, both in leagues and public rooms.

It's by adding parts to bring it back to it's former PP. If you change nothing on the car after the update, it's exactly the same, only your former 174hp/1200 kg/400pp RX-7 is now 349pp. To get it back to 400 PP you can juice it up until it has 280 hp...which is the same specs a typical 450pp car has. In other words, in a 400PP race you can now enter a car that last week was 450PP with 100 more HP than other cars in the race. Guess who wins!!

Basically most or even all cars except the FR's were left alone and what adjustments were made to the FR's are inconsisent and make no sense. The FR-S/GT12 etc. already were good cars, dominant at their PP's but got a boost. You can enter a Mustang in a race now with 150+hp more than your competitors. It's ridiculous:grumpy:
 
yes, My times in the HSV were the same suspension and aero setup across both runs, but across the update the HSV dropped from 600PP to 591PP so I could give it more power which was worth around a second,

as for the YMS Supra, it was setup to 600PP then after the update was at 564PP it now has 100BHP more then the rest of the GT500 cars,
 
Ok, so the cars themselves haven't changed and cars that were competitive against each other will still be competitive at those specs. What's happening is people are adding parts/power and reducing weight to get back to a certain PP level, but obviously this is going to make cars that were competitive before not competitive anymore.

If everybody just left their cars alone everything would be fine, other than it would make a mess of the room regulations because the PP's would be all over the place. The Mustang didn't gain 150hp, it's just been moved to a class where it has 150hp more than a lot of other cars in that class. So the 6 cars we recently raced at 575pp would still be as competitive as they were, but to do that kind of thing now I'd have to have 3-5 different PP regulations and I'd have to let some cars in the track at a certain PP, then adjust it and let other cars in at another PP, etc. P.I.T.A. :yuck: I guess this means my plans for our future racing are down the drain and I'll have to go back to the drawing board. That sucks, I had developed a decent formula that I thought was going to work fairly well. It still might, just gonna be a lot harder to find car pairings now. 👎

Perhaps we should break out the millionaires cars this weekend if anyone is free? It's started snowing here and everything grinds to a halt if there's a miserly inch or two on the ground, so I ain't going anywhere this weekend.

:lol: I honestly don't think I ever want to drive that car again! Although I'm sure it's a totally different beast since the last time I drove it, been several updates to the physics.........but it still has that super short wheelbase that loves to put its backside forwards. :ouch:


I should be around, not sure if I want to take the millionaire's cars out though. Instead, maybe we should try something I've always wanted to do and that's classic Japanese cars like the late '67 and '70 Skylines, the 2000GT, & the 280z. I've tested these cars a lot, they are very closely matched and fun to drive (especially on SH or CS tires). They're a little slow to shift but very fun to toss around, and probably closer racing than the touring cars were. :dopey:

I've eaten many animals, including kangaroo and ostrich, but horse isn't one of them (yet). Apparently it is delicious! :drool:

The 4 cars pictured above would be a good start. I know the 2 Skylines and the GT2000 all run very well together and I believe the 280z is also a very good contender. I'll do some testing tonight and see what I can come up with.

PlayStation Network is offline for scheduled maintenance from 16:00 GMT on Thursday 17 January 2013 to 18:30 GMT on Friday 18 January 2013.​

And the maintenance has overrun. The network isn't expected to be up until 10pm gmt.

Yeah I seemed to experience some odd stuff last night as well. I was able to sign on under my main account at any and all times, however my auxiliary accounts were unable to connect and faced with the 'undergoing maintenance' message.

I'll try it later this evening; I just gave up last night after a bit.
 
Odd no issues here getting online yesterday/last night. My GF's kids PS3 did though.
 
I have all those cars (surprisingly!) And I should be online this evening, sometime after 8pm GMT.
