I installed origin(1day ago) to play Simcity. Each time i log in i get a message that my account is already being used on a diffrent computer. And they ask me to still log in... Am i hacked or is this just a error?

Congratulations on installing one of the worst and most useless things to ever come out for the PC. :)

You will surely enjoy the buggy and useless nature of Origin, and will scream out in joy when it messes up your gaming experiences, either by it not being able to sync properly, or simply by it not being able to connect.

I actually would love to help you, but I'm afraid my knowledge on how to get such things to work is lackluster (I just try a bunch of random methods until it works). Perhaps try to make a new account, or try to change the password on your current account. If it's constantly saying that the account is in use with another PC, then it must be a bug of some sort, rather than someone using it.

I wouldn't bother with trying customer support, as they're ususally as incompetent as a door knob. Of course you could get lucky, and get in touch with someone who can and wants to help you.

It should also be noted that all the SimCity servers are currently utter trash, with a lot of people not being able to play it at the moment. So even if you do manage to sign in to Origin, you are likely to not be able to play SimCity. You can't expect anyone working with EA to finish their game before release, right?

Well its a cool game. To bad of the DRM and small map sizes.

I notice :grumpy:

Not sure which kind of Origin you got, but my Origin works flawlessly and has always been.

I would definitely try to contact the Origin customersupport, if I had any trouble with my account.

You can say whatever you want about EA, but Origin works... For very many people.

And it doesn't work for a lot of other people. And even then, it's still a pointless service that is being forced on to the consumer. A service that shouldn't be there. Something we would (and were) a lot better off without.

Hey since you are on origin for SimCity add me! bluemoon_19 I need people to make a better region as I bet with more people I might not have to build so much industry and I would have more people to trade the goods I currently make with.

I would try customer help, I did it for Most Wanted. Got to talk to a specialist and got my case even elevated up to the Devs. So it would help.

Also I have heard really mixed results on simcity. Some can get on with no problems and others hate the stupid thing (DRM)

I had the same things last week, it never happen this week again because what I do when I go out of origin is logging off instead of hitting the close programm button. I think it's a origin bug but I'm not a 100% sure.

There is a reason why EA was The Consumerist's 'Worst Company in America' in 2012, and a strong contender to repeat.

Didn't want to start a new thread. But has anyone used Origin lately?! The connection speeds are absolutely horrendous. The last time I used Origin it was marginally acceptable, so with that in mind I went on the hunt for a random game I've never played before. I decided to download C&C Generals. It's a gig and a half. 1.49 gigs, that's it, and yet it's been downloading for the past six hours! I just checked the progress and it says it actually lost progress. I had 1020mb downloaded and when I checked again I was losing progress - I'm down to 990mb. I knew EA and Origin were bad, but this is bad by Windows '98 standards.

Its probably has a lot to do with the Humble Bundle. EA using it to gain good publicity (charity) whilst achieving their goal of greatly increasing the userbase of Origin by providing essencially near free games to a massive audience.

That massive increase in users are slamming the servers resulting in the slower speeds. Steam has similar issues when they have sales on. I hate Origin too, but if one is to play EA games there is almost no choice but to use it.

That makes sense. So disappointing!! I know EA has been terrible for a while, but when your client is so bad that your very own customers can't even purchase your product then obviously something needs to be done. If I were an EA executive I'd be scrambling to find some answers and fast.

I only used it in the past because I got BF1942 for free and DS3 for 1$ in the EA Humble Bundle, but it was always slow and unresponsive. I know why I boycott EA and don't buy any games from them anymore.

Looks like I'm done with EA too. After ten hours using origin to try and download 1.49 gigabytes I had to cancel the download because it kept getting stuck at 1044mb and reverting back to 900gb. Wow, that's incredible - ten hours and their client couldn't even download 2 gigs. I'm actually laughing as I'm typing this.... I can't think of anything worse than that.

Yeah, it took me a week to download 10.4GB of Dead Space 3. I'd leave it to download overnight and when I checked the next day it would've done around 250MB, then to restart the download I had to exit Origin twice and then resume... It got tiresome, but on the last day it managed to do half of the download in a couple of hours, so I guess they fixed whatever the problem was.

When I downloaded Sims 3 it was really quick for me and to be honest I haven't had any issues with it. Sims 3 the only game I downloaded so far tho.

And man... addictive game, after spending a whole night on it and then even dreaming about the bloody sims I think I'm gonna uninstall it, fried my brain.

Origin works fine, but Origin Customer Support is perhaps the worst customer support ever created in the history of mankind.

I don't know. I've never had a single issue with anything Origin related, and it's been installed on both my laptop and desktop for quite some time.

I don't normally say things like this but, that s.o.b. ought to be dragged out of there mob style.

It's amazing how they failed to learn anything from Sim City or the Xbox One.

Just downloaded 19gigs of Battlefield 3 on Origin from the humble bundle in 2hours. Probably a little faster than Steam.

Not had an issue opening Origin or downloading games but I admit I don't use it often and only hava a handful of games on there.

One thing EA are doing right, though, is that they'll refund you on any purchase made through Origin for any reason. I think it's limited to 24 hours of play up to 7 days after the purchase, so if your PC won't run it or if you just don't like it you get a full refund. That's better than Steam...

But yeah, for the most part Origin works and will usually download at a higher rate than Steam. I remember way back when I first got Origin for BF3 the downloader wouldn't resume dropped connections like Steam does, but then it did, but now it appears it might've stopped doing it again. Fortunately EA's policy to rarely issue updates works in their favour in this respect though as most of the time, once a game is installed I won't have to worry about some download or another getting in the way. BF3 is an exception though, I'm sure BF4 will be too.

Half the stories I've read on other sites say Origin is better than Steam, and half say Origin is the worst thing in gaming history (which is my impression so far). I wonder why such a discrepancy? From where I'm sitting I can't even fathom Origin working properly, yet others can't fathom it not. Weird. Also, on a technical note, I've checked my ports, firewall, drivers, modem cache, DNS recommendations from Origin, and nothing has worked - Origin is still running at about 120Kbps...

There must be server load balancing that is effecting different users experience. I use Steam for 95% of my games and only use origin when I have to. I have been using steam since the early days of half life and counter strike. Rarely have I had issues.
