next time if someone is not up fully on the inside im just going to turn into them, as not my fualt they should be yielding back as cant make the pass without damage and cleanly if you get damaged not my problem we can both have damage and be racing at the back you now know what im going to do, youve been warned so dont try it or your race will be ruined aswell thiers a hour of racing its not a sprint race

I haven't been in oni series for very long but from what I gather that doesn't sound like the right mentality for the championship... If someone is doing that too you, and take the wide line around the corner??

So if your going into corner and the bloke behind out brakes you, but you manage to get your nose in front, your ganna turn into them without caring and ruin a drivers race that's been in the series from the beginning....?

Slowly starting to realize why so many people dropping out of this series...

If there's one thing I think we've all learnt through out this series and the previous 3 or 4, is:
ON LAP 1, TURN 1, THERE IS NO RACING LINE. As a matter of fact, there is no line for most of lap 1.
We've always been able to make turn 1 (on any track) with 2 or 3 cars side by side. In this case, nobody can expect to hold their line.
If they can do it in the F1's, there's no reason why we cant do it here.

I know its a game ( simulator - serious - competition ) but im just trying to get my point accross to clarify things up so i know for the next race what the rules are how to approach it and tackle things..

Ok...

Firstly, FFS guys! :grumpy: This is a game, we don't win anything, we are here to enjoy it... That being said, we do not want people running into other people and ruining the experience for everyone!

Dilluzion, I am sorry to say but you are wrong. I race in bonnet cam too and am quite able to see someone not directly level and give them room where appropriate... (Use the side view buttons! 👍)

I will once again refer to the OLR Rules and say this time, read them ALL paying particular attention to section 8! Here it states, and I quote, "You must establish substantial overlap with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s turn-in point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you. At least the front of your car should be up to the driver’s position in the ahead car." i.e. You are wrong Dilluzion, if another driver is level with your front door then you are expected to leave room... By all means, run around the outside as they are also required to leave you room to do so, but you must leave them racing room! NO EXCUSES!

Dilluzion, accidents happen mate. We all have incidents where we are robbed of chances and create incidents robbing others of chances, it is a racing incident, they happen no matter how much we ALL try and avoid them... For example, I had my first race of this season destroyed when Waynz made a mistake and hit me. Sure, I was not happy about it but I moved on and would be more than comfortable running nose-to-tail with him again now as I understand it was a mistake. He apologised and life goes on... Similarly, I did the same thing to Bonson the following race, I completely 🤬 up, my fault entirely... I apologised and we got on with it!

As for the 'incident' at the first corner where you were 'pushed' Dilluzion... I would say that you were in the wrong and was not going to bring it up except everyone is still carrying-on about it... I have a picture I will upload and post of the incident in question. IMO, you braked cautiously which is very important at the first corner but perhaps too cautiously, Willco got alongside you and you then turned in on him... The picture shows it fairly well as you are turning-in across the front of Willco's car forcing him onto the grass, quite open and shut if you ask me, plus no-one got damage so why the big fuss...?

Monzav3.jpg

Here we are, as you can see behind Waynz, Willco is well and truly entitled to hold his line on the inside there so you should have gone a little wider around the outside and held the inside line for the left-hander...

Ultimately, no-one wants to have contact and to the best of my knowledge everyone does their best to avoid it, but if you are not prepared to accept that occasionally it does happen then dont race online! I pride myself on maintaining a reputation as being clean and fast but like I said earlier, this does not mean I have not caused accidents... I make mistakes as does everyone, it is a fact of life.

Guys, I am trying to keep this organised and fair but I can't continue trying to mediate with everyone's problems! 👎 I have better things to do with my time...

My advice to EVERYONE is to read the OLR Rules and then if something still feels out of joint or you really feel like you have been wronged then and only then come here and bring it up! We are humans, we make mistakes... I do agree with Dilluzion though that if you have been in the wrong you must let the other person back through, this however, is also stated in the OLR Rules!

Cheers, Xerx :)

It wasnt the first corner as i was already turning in then at that point to let waynz past as he was just next to me giving him room to make the corner as with me
If you have to use the side view mirrors thier not in the position to make the pass as not in your a pillar dude so no need for them

And it was the 2nd chicane dude

Dill if you are referring to my pass on you in the second tight right hander, then you are digging a mighty big hole for yourself my friend. Quit your bitching you sounding like a jerk

Evan

Wilco didn't have a clear advantage over me when i turned in or else he would have been infront of me when i met his car or i would a rear ended him he wasn't even on track when he was turning in!.
so clearly they did not have a substantial overlap as i was starting to make the turn in while they were trying to shove it up the inside. or we wouldnt have been leveled by the time i met their door and turned in! your the one making the overtaking move and have failed to gain an advantage your the one expected to back off

Evan mate i Had not mentioned you. it may have been lag maybe on my side i dont really give about that right now

And Evan mate i dont appreciate you calling me a jerk thiers no need for that stuff im expressing me opinon

100% agreed with Rota on this one.

Dilluzion , you need to find yourself a race series with people that share your attitude to racing. That's all I'm going to say.

sorry but just chill mate,
we're all friends here. everyones trying to have the best race they can and things just happen. we all knew that this track in the wet was going to be interesting, but no one is going out to ruin anyones elses race.
sounds like you have raced for real so you know that things out of your control happen on race day.
you have showed that you have good race pace, lets see how you go next week.
please don't take offence, just chill

Hrrrm very weird dude as i was stable and i felt a big jolt in my wheel and it vibrated like crazzy so i dont know what happened and even tho it showed no one hit me i dont understand it must have been lag. what i felt and my screen is completely different to that but ah well guess from that anyway you look at it im proven wrong as i couldnt save replay from my own connection showing what i felt. Case dropped cant be fuked anymore.

But that still doesnt dispuite my arguement with what i was saying earlyer hahaha

I've been a bit busy and haven't been on GT5 or the forum in a couple of days,
and all I can say is, WOW!

I obviously coudn't make it to Monza, but here's my quick 2 cents.
I race in cockpit view, and my style is to always look around, keep it clean at almost any cost, and you'll do well.
It's won me a couple of races! Well, that and some luck ;)

On another note, I can definately make it to Cape Ring, despite my deeply seated hatred for that track :yuck:

Mike! Glad to see you back mate! ;)
Did wonder where you were this week... Do you know if that team-mate of yours will be back also?... You were both very much missed this week!

As for cockpit view... That's impressive! I love running cockpit view and do in all offline events (Licences, Seasonals, Specials & A-Spec) but I am always about .05-.15 slower than in bonnet cam so when online I use bonnet cam...
Like I said, Impressive! And you ARE very clean! Those last half a dozen laps we battled at Tokyo is still the highlight of the season for me personally! 👍

Cheers, Xerx :)

Mike, you're an animal if you can use cockpit view and run as fast as you do.. hats off to you mate..
Me, im a fan of the bonnet cam. No matter what view you choose, you can look in all directions (including sideways) which is essential if you wanna keep it clean!

Cheers Xerx, yeah that battle was pretty awesome :)

No idea if Rusty can make it.
The first race at Deep Forest was the first time I met him and I haven't been able to talk to him since.

If you do check this post Rusty, I usually have an unscheduled practice with Rota and Spin sometime before the race if you'd like to join us.

My PSN account name is Mike--ekiM 👍

Ah boys this is what I'm talking about!! Oh yeah I love a bit of fire in my races as long as people admit when they stuff up.

Xerx mate your 100% cutting, not sure what world your in but not good. As Roota said if I knew I could cut that much id be quicker through corners!

Your wheels aren't on the racing surface, the point of a ripple strip is as a turning point for drivers to see upcoming corners and give them a good line by using your inside tyres on them.

If you were a race driver doing that you would never finish a race because you will always be disqualified and be lighter in your pocket too.

I might pop into the race on Monday with the intention of just driving the legs off my car because I love sprint format which willco and myself asked for so I need to back up my request and show I'll do it

Haha so much **** going on here for what I'm sure was meant to be a fun, yet competitive series.

I will admit, I ****ed up on Monday's race, making contact on the warm up lap and cutting corners when two laps down. I now know how the system works and I have no problem at all at admiting I was in the wrong an won't do it again.

On a lighter note, is anyone practicing today? Finally broke in my engine and have alot more HP up my sleeve :)

No hate what so ever mate, just guys having fun and having strong opinions on manly *grunt noise* stuff!

Wow! i take a slight unintended break from the series (Thanks Sony) and all hell breaks loose.. lol

Seems like everyone had some tension needed to be released and Monza helped them get it out. Hopefully i have my PS3 this week to host the next race.

With the Corner Cutting rules, there seems to be alot of miss communication on what is right and what isnt right.

So here we go. I cant be more clear than this...

2 WHEELS ON THE BLACK STUFF AT ALL TIMES!
The ripple strip is not counted at the black stuff/road/track.

I'll allow Monza to slide as there was to many 'incidents' by alot of drivers so the standings can still remain from that race. But from now on the above is applied and has been applied since day one. Not sure why it got confused but my guess is due to people dropping out of the series and new drivers coming and the rules got 'tweaked'. No more. As Taital stated. If you use the inside wheels on the ripple strip consistently lap after lap you would be black flagged.

If someone can take a photo of what i mean and post it (Taital) that would be appreciated.

Other then that i can see you guys are having fun even with the slight temper tantrum. Remember this all. The reason why i created this series is to have fun and help other drivers progress.

There is no prize for 1st place (other than ingame reward). There is no real life trophy, cash or any sponsor deal. This is just to get like minded drivers fast/slow whatever to enjoy racing together. The rules are in place to make it more balanced for all types of drivers. The aim is to have fun guys. Yeah incidents happen and will continue to happen as that is racing. It happens in real life and cannot be avoided. If it happens to you get over it and move one. It is a game. If you think you have it bad then look at me and Willco. Consistently throughout this series we have had someone give us damage during the opening laps but we dont complain. It's just a crappy season for us and hopefully we can turn it around next season.

And for those looking forward to what the next season is.. to give you an hint.. it will be a series compromised from cars in the recommended list (so driver ability will play a big part rather then a drivers tune). Also it wont be 1 car. It will be a number of cars used in the series. More on that next time.

willco69
ahh.. Taital took the bait!

It all got quiet and no one seemed to care but now it's on donkey kong! If all this controversy wasn't here I wouldn't race but this is golden stuff!

I'll get some photos together and post them here on my interpretation

Cool! Sorted, I was just running as per GTP's OLR Rules but that's fine too! 👍

I like the sound of the Recommended List series! :D I don't think tuning is my strong point so it should help me out a little! ;)

Cheers, Xerx :)

Yeah i agree X i think this will bring the racing closer as from tunes you can gain alot of time, and myself included is not great at tuning. were as some are terrific

Yeah no problem Xerxs. If i was in your shoes i would have done the same. Sorry to have just dumped that race on to you like that. I am hoping to have my PS3 back tomorrow or Monday morning as it hasn't arrived today. Sony advised its ready and being sent back so fingers crossed.

I'd say a lot of us bar a very very few in this series have good tuning knowledge. So a recommended series will really pit driver skill against each other. Definitely looking forward to it.

The series will run as per this one with the tyre handicap/rules as it works great and will included the much liked sprint races.

AmericanStig here, :)

Guys, you really need to calm down, it's only a game. My race was completely ruined by Xerx on 2 ocassions, (one of them kind of wasn't him, his car lagged and hit me and ruined my engine but they other, he lost control of the car and hit me which also gave me terminal damage) but I just dropped it after I figured out what happened. There is no point in arguing, it gets you no where, and over a little game like GT5? That's a little low.

Lets just get on with the racing and enjoy it, not take it too seriously! :)

On a seperate note, I don't know about you guys, but I suffered no lag at all at Monza, not even a frame rate loss like we get in Oni's room. No offense to Oni, but I personally think we'd be better off running the championship from Xerx's room from now on.

That would be cause he disabled voice capability is all mate

Yeah, nah it wouldn't. We run qualifying with no one using the mics and there is the same lag, and don't say that it's because it's disabled, because voice chat on doesn't use any bandwidth, it's only when people use it.
