What kind of penalty is given in V8's or F1 in relation to curb cutting??

I think a drive-thru is what happens in those cases, after warnings, but that's not practical in this case.

Perhaps a penalty like lose a position (or a few) in the final placings, perhaps. Because as Taital said above, a 20pt penalty has cost him him last 3 rounds.

Yes a drive through or time equivalent penalty is applied, unless ONI notes down total race time a time penalty won't work. Happy to wear the penalty and I know if he doesn't act people will do it more, im just a little frustrated of losing half my points lol

Just to clarify, I agree wholeheartedly with point deductions, I just didn't agree with Fryz, then again, I haven't watched the replay so I don't know the premise for which the penalty applied, my knowledge was that he was lapping at half pace for most of the race because his race got ruined by the 6th Corner, and if that was the case, then a penalty is just a bit much.

If there is something I'm missing, like he was racing people (although I lapped him with 5 laps to go).

Warnings were given to everyone 2 races back. I advised everyone if there are any cuts then you will receive a point penalty. It's to late in the series to be giving more warnings. Everyone was aware that a point penalty will apply.

Rusty, Willco, Evan, Bono, Stig and a few others said i need to crack down harder on people in this series and i have done just that. I damned if i do and damned if i dont. So they say.

I 'may' look at a slight reduction to the point penalty next series. But that's a big maybe. Curb hopping, corner cutting etc needs to have a deterrent and a hefty point penalty ensures to bring such 'incidents' in line.

Cant we just forfeit all points for that round then? This way we walk away earning nothing at all for that race. Quite a justified and strong penalty, yet not over the top.

I will admit that what was my understanding of cutting and what was actually considered cutting was different. I know its my fault and fully my responsibility but I only want to make 2 points for my case.

1) I got taken out at corner 6 and from the end of the first lap it was Crystal Clear that I could finish no better than last. I was 46 seconds behind Bono and the only guys I could maybe catch would be changing to softs mid race anyway and there is no way in hell I could close that gap down in only 11 laps. I made a choice to just run to the finish and not just rage quit (Though i probably should have )

2) I never purposely decided to cut the track, I 100% thought for those 8 - 9 laps where I did drive that I was fully legal. Now again its my fault for not understanding the rules and that's why I'm not fighting the penalty entirely (happy to loose all round points) but its not like i was running 4 wheels off trying to cheat and gain advantages all over the place.

Anyway, what you choose to do is what ever you choose to do. I just felt like I was penalized enough with terminal damage, without taking a further 20 points off me, considering my record. Hell I've never been found of submitting a dirty replay or a dodgy race in over 8 years!.

If you kept racing at 100%, and caught the guys at the back on sorts, and then one of those blokes crashed, how does that justify it being ok to cut just because you were last? And not saying anyone in the series would do this (except taital because he is gay), but if some one is coming last, you could just run the corners to catch up, and hope no one notices and if they do you just loose your points for that race, which wontbe many as you wer last anyway, i know it doesnt totally apply to you faster blokes but gotta be consistant with rules, if im caught cutting im happy to take penalty, the harsh penalty will prevent anyone doing it again, and sorry oni, told someone bout cars before i say that post also sorry for my typing im on a tablet and cbf reading my post to check itcuz im pissed bye

I was doing the FGT seasonal last night. I liked my race and watched back the replay.

Then I noticed I still had my open faced rally helmet on, even in the FGT!

Comment on Monday's race and how awesome it was.

What I loved was most cars would get loose and drift exiting turn 1-2 and the last corner onto the straight, it looks fab on replay!

The difference here is that in your scenario your making a conscious choice to cut to gain an advantage which you believe out weighs the penalty. I know you guys can only take my word for it but at no point was I intentionally going "yes lets just cut and see if I can make up time and maybe bag a few extra places". Personally I think the motive is quite important here especially again, given that I have no history ever of intentionally trying to do anything against the rules, to gain an advantage or not.

I understand that at the end of the day this is just a game and why "be all so serious" but I do take these things relatively serious in order to maintain my reputation as a clean, quality racer and not just show up half arsed and bounce off walls and other drivers under the excuse its "just a game".

Everyone here puts in a good amount of effort to either organise or participate in a very nicely run league, in which case I think we are doing something that's a little more than "just a game".

Anyway, that's the last from me on this subject. I very rarely post anything serious on this site so take the fact that I took the effort these past few as a sign that I enjoy racing and competing with you fellas and not as me having a whinge for the sake of whinging.

This way a group of 1 or 2 others can bounce ideas for penalties based upon a case by case basis instead of putting everyone in a circle, even an option for drivers to appeal an offence.

Now some may say that it's 'just a game' but I take pride in our race series and how organized they are. But remember the game is a simulator not arcade so there's always that reality aspect to a sim based game.

As I said its just a suggestion to relieve some of the load you currently have with GT5 and working from home drawing purdy flowers on signs

Ok here we go regarding "stewards"...

I am more then happy to have some people take the load off me as it's very time consuming to the point that i can't do any practice as i don't have time. In order for this to work I'd need 2 dedicated people that are willing to sit through the replays and check for offenses. I am more for making this series as close as possible to real life racing (which you will see when i post the next series). The problem with being a steward like i said is you need to be dedicated to the role (job) as honestly it is a pain in the rear and if you are up to the job you need to be aware that it feels like a 2nd job with no real reward (unless you count people abusing you as fun).

IF i can get 2 people to be dedicated stewards then this is how it will work.

The 2 stewards will be in charge of making decisions on the offenses and what penalty will apply (warning, point deduction, etc). If the 2 stewards cannot come to an agreement then they will pass that incident on to me to watch and ill make the final decision (which cannot be disputed).

If an offense needs to be discussed with the driver the stewards will do this and only bring myself in if the matter escalates.

If both stewards agree on the offense and penalty then it cannot be disputed. The driver takes it as a 'learning' experience and moves on.

It may seem like i am removing myself from the work but it is tiring organizing, scheduling, chasing drivers/wildcards, watching replays, getting practice in, giving penalties and doing my real life job (as well as play other games). However i believe separating myself (not entirely) from the penalty decision and putting it to a 2 man/woman counsel would make it more 'real' and fair to all.

So who is up for the job? Don't hold back guys..

Depending on interest from the other lads (who’ve been in previous series etc and around a lot longer), I’m definitely keen in volunteering for a steward position.

I'm really enjoying racing with everyone in our group and appreciate what we’ve got going here. I've have the time, commitment and enthusiasm to devote to future series on an ongoing basis.

Want to contribute to ensure we continue to making this the most professional series that we possibly can with acknowledgement/adherence to yours and the broader GTP OLR Rules & Guidelines.

P.S. I've a got club karting background in a previous life, not that means a hell of a lot, but consider myself fair and consistent driver, which i reckon the other lads would attest to (if not the fastest) .

Anyway, thought I’d put it out there in the event that there is no other interest.

I will be going overseas in December. Also for the Wednesday night series , I may not be able to make them , especially if we move the start time forward.

For those reasons I'd like to be put down as a wild card for the Wed series but any races that I am part of , I'll be happy to play steward.

On the subject , will there still be a Monday night series Oni ?

Cheers Jazza. I'd be happy to have you as a steward. You sound like you know what your in for and happy to do it. This guarantee's your permanent position in the series till you 'retire'. Can you do both Wednesday or Monday night series or just the 1?. Now i just need 1 more.

Great to have you putting your hand to help out Spin. Though i will need a permanent steward. However with that said if there ever turns out to be a point where a steward cannot make the race and your in the race i'd be happy to have you fill in.

As for the Monday night series that will still be going. It will be Monday Night and Wednesday night series. At the moment they are both still 9pm race starts.

Work has been crazy so i haven't had much chance to really get online lately. I will be posting the details in a new post for the next series next week. I have some work to do this weekend so that put a hold on the post.

The only issue I have is my own laziness which again most of you know is quite often lol. I participate in all races unless I'm otherwise involved.

Yeah your laziness is your downfall.. lol. It used to take around 2.5hrs having to watching the replace twice. But now with fast forward it only takes at most 1.5hrs. However that was doing it alone.

The idea is that 2 stewards would split the load. 1 would watch half the drivers and the other half goes to the other steward. Using the fast forward is a godsend (thank you PD). Then each steward would note down the drivers in their minds performed offenses and tell the other steward to have a look. Then both decide on a decision (im sure you already know this with your background).

Even though it is your idea you dont need to feel obligated to do it. The thing is you need to be dedicated to it. To ensure its smooth and drivers know who to go to if they need defend or report said offenses. It is time consuming like i said. So only do it if your going to go through with it.
