there is some lady in england who owns manhattan, there was a documentary about it on the tv recently....she showed the title deeds of the land her family bought years back when land was cheap in that area....

developers illegally built on it without permission and now its the most expensive real estate in america...and she in a court case trying to get it back...its worth billions and billions of dollars.....i doubt she will win...

Cool. You may want to hold it on those flares for a while - they muck up satellite feeds so I cant watch european soccer.

Yeah right she would win, propabably just some crazy OAP.

I own the sun!

yes i think she is over the age of 60 but the BBC are very precise in their investigative journalism, they talked to top US real estate lawyers...there is some technicality that prevents her from just taking the land back....i think its because she has left it for so long that the land is deemed 'abandoned by the current owner' and falls back into some kinda common ownership...i'm not sure...

i was only half watching the programme...but i have seen it also in the press too..

Oh right I was going to say even 60 years back Manhattan would be well built up. It is quite possible she does own part or all of it.

A lot of Irish did emigrate to america at that time, as did Scots...but in this case, the woman was English....if you had read the previous posts you would have discovered that...

Having had a think about this, I nominate:

Japan

Inherently racist, now dominated by a freakish version of Western culture in the wake of a people that, in terms of a national identity, lost their way after being defeated in World War II.

Their inherent ability to adapt to technology and refine makes them stand out, but ultimately they are the national equivalent to plastic. Product of the modern age, can be molded to any shape you want, but in terms of its own current form, in the absence of other form (including its own older past), characterless.

Yes! Thank you.

Now back to the rest of these hillarious and astute posts. What a great thread.

Oh so many ass backward countries to choose from...

I'll have to say Ireland, for now. Being of Irish background, and formerly tapping it as a source of pride, I have come to know people like that to be idiotic drunks who think their homeland is as stupid as they are. And it just might be. What do they do there? Buncha potato eating Guinness guzzling wefare cases *spit*

Besides James Joyce, who had the good sense to leave, Ireland is good for nothing. I can see why England felt they could just go and take over. Those people are clearly inferior and in need of conquering.

I could agree with some of those points, but what do you mean by, : Inherently racist?

Japanese attitudes to 'foreigners' in Japan are suprisingly poor - comes from being isolated on a series of islands for so long, I guess.

Enter 'japan foreigners' into Google and have a read through what comes up.

By the way, my comments are not intended to imply that these criticisms could not be fairly levelled at Australia.

Yes yes yes every country except America and Brazil (Have you seen the women that come out of this country? Goddamn!) is overrated.

Now back to my original question. Are there some Canadians who want to mail me good drugs across the border for all of my aches and pains?

I hope you are saying this after visiting Japan first.
