Only for track use? - Ferrari and Maserati can get away with producing cars like that off the back of their rich racing heritage. Pagani have zero racing heritage, who's going to want to buy a hellishly expensive track car from a company with no racing experience?
Old post yes, but heritage matters about as much as how many blades of grass are around the factory. I'd sooner buy such a car from Pagani just based on their road cars. Lighter, faster, they say race car louder than the other Italian makers in my opinion.

Maybe for you, but racing heritage holds rather enormous value for those who have the Benjamins for a car of this stature.
That's awfully presumptuous. There are plenty of people who would buy this car over an FXX I promise you. Not that they'd have to make that choice when they can have both.
This car was actually a request from a customer. The word got out, and more people wanted one. I think 11 customers payed up beforehand to make the project come true. Only 15 cars will ever be built.
GTspiritThe Pagani Zonda R Evolution is strictly limited to 5 cars and the first car in stunning clear coated carbon fibre is now ready for delivery. The Pagani Zonda R Evolution features an 800hp version of the Zonda’s V12 AMG engine, an improvement in weight distribution and a new set of aerodynamic parts.
The Pagani Zonda R Evolution costs € 1,760,000 excluding tax and at the time of writing 4 out of 5 have been sold. Which leaves only one Pagani Zonda R Evolution available for sale.
The Pagani Zonda R was able to lap the 20.8 kilometer long Nurburgring circuit in 6 minutes and 47 seconds. With an increase in power of 800 horsepower and improved aerodynamics the Zonda R Evo should be able to shred a few seconds off the already impressive lap time. The most powerful Pagani Zonda ever made should be able to sprint to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds and its top speed lies above the 350km/h mark.
