Should real paints have manufacture name listed too?

Does anybody have any ideas on lists for paint codes or even just a manufacture list for the real paints in livery editor? Many thanks. Drives me insane.

Are you asking about "Real Paint" HSL values?
Are you asking about which manufacturer/model is associated with "Real Paint" colors?

Developing a list would be interesting.

Yes both really any information would be great. I might start a list for the existing manufacture colours as I have them all by now surely.

Also any manufacture colours we can recreate using hsv values. I have tried using converters then dividing the V value by 3.6 but it’s a bit hit and miss.

I have created many liveries feeling dissatisfied knowing the paint work is not genuine.

Wow thank you. Thats a fantastic tool. So just to recap for adjustment to GT colours I have to x0.28 the H value or /3.6 the H value? I thought it was /3.6 the V value?? Gosh its confusing. Many thanks for the support and advice. As a reward I’ll post my car in question with it’s shiny new OEM paint.

Concerning HSV values for manufacturer paints, one secret I've discovered is to begin saving an unchanged livery after purchasing/receiving a car from a dealership. The swatches for the original paint color(s) might show in the "Save" window. If they do not show, select a desired color scheme number for a choice labeled something like "Keep As". I'm reciting this from memory without access to the actual game menu so details for these instructions might differ from those you experience.

When you get these to appear, choose any swatch. That color's HSV details (edit) will appear in the HSV color pallet window by choosing "Color Picker".(edit) I typically must record these manually as choosing "OK" often fails to populate the "Most Recent" area of future instances of that pallet window.

If you desire to know a particular color, you may buy that car and use this process. If then you wish not to keep the car, sell it to recover some of the purchase price. Cars received from the Daily Wheel Of Despair are free for experimentation.

I, too, will attempt to survey the "Real Paint" colors I have acquired to determine which manufacturer/model uses them. I have been interested in their origin. A comprehensive database of manufacturer colors would be a valuable though exhausting endeavor.

One additional method that I have used to approximate a color is apply a square decal temporarily, zoom in where the decal edge meets the underlying paint (ensuring the area to be viewed remains clear of where the color picker palette will appear) and adjust the color of the decal until it as closely as possible matches the underlying paint color. This works best for solid finish colors.

You simply then can record the information from the HSV value of the temporary decal and use it later.

Yes I have seen this method on youtube with a beetle in livery editor. The video is out there. Also a good method, great for like a promo car for a brand where the colour has to be right. I feel a coca cola car coming on today. Thanks for the inspiration. 👍

Here is the tool I'm using to paint values: https://imagecolorpicker.com/en

A gtplanet member shared this link a long time ago, you just have to pick the color you want, to take the HSV values. Notice: you have to x0.28 the "H" value to correct GT Sport paint.
Thanks for the link!
I've been searching for days for this kind of thing!

And +1 to @GTR365, I've already seen that this was possible and useful if you need to paint a Corvette with the color existing on a Mustang for example.

To finish I deeply regret that we don't win the colors of the cars we buy, like it used to be in GT5.

If they don't come in the Miles shop, why don't they let us have them like this?!
OK there are tons of great colors but I like to paint my cars with colors that actually exist for each manufacturers!

I have performed a little research & spreadsheet work. Complete is the information I have found for linking paint colors to manufacturers & models.

Missing is the HSV components to be parsed from paint swatches from those cars. I will work on this as GTS time allows; I still need to build back to 20M credits approaching the next update.

The file is roughly formatted & the information's accuracy is not guaranteed, but it's a start.

(1) I added a few HSV values from cars I already have purchased or received. To clarify, this list includes only colors which are available in the 'Real Car Paint' category in the livery editor obtained originally from the MiEx.

Thanks for viewing.

So that's it, I really have all of them...
I was hoping to find new ones in a weekly update of the MiEx but I won't... :(

Wow GTR365 thats great work! I’m sure the rest of the GT community will agree. This will make things a lot easier when choosing paint from now on. @GTR365 What a legend! Can you DM me your PSN i.d please?

I was wondering if you or anyone knew anything about the Decal uploader? It doesn't seem to work for me. The file size is below 15kb its standard SVG format and I am using a mixture of Gimp and Inkscape to export as SVG. Any thoughts @GTR365 ? It could possibly be that the picture physical size is too small?

Found this to be a great resource and its all sorted now for anyone who needs to know:

I finished the spreadsheet detailing HSV data mined from manufacturer paints available in the livery editor under the "Real Paint" section.

I have determined exactly which models provide the colors so far available while removing those models presented tentatively before my testing removed ambiguity.

A couple caveats persist. Firstly, the values I have included are mined from the swatches available from the models. Your mileage may vary with any application; experimentation might result in a better representation. Secondly, many of the finishes are not solid. Therefore, while the hue might be fairly representative, the overall look likely will be less than desirable as picking metallic or pearl finish still seems to lack the effect's magnitude of those available from the purchased car or from the "Real Paint" section.

Thanks for viewing :)

Guys this is confusing to me still. I don't know where i'm supposed to get the real paint code for the Porsche GT3 RSR 4.0 tribute Carrara White and convert in GT Sport. Are we supposed to just download a picture of the car in that colour and add the image to the colour picker, if so, i am still confused on the calculations.

Try to use this colour :
H 58 / S 11 / V 95 with a pearl paint.
This give a cold white effect with some flakes.
