Does anyone know where I can get A really good paint job. I have an 87, but the clear coat is starting to peel off. I bought it for $1500 and decided I want to really make it fast and look good. Any help would be great.

Just call around any of your local body shops. It really depends on what you want. Are you going with the original color? Do you want the jams shot? Do you want all the glass pulled or taped off? I work for a body shop at a Chrysler/Jeep dealership and we would do an all over on your car, I know that doesnt help. But if you wanted it done and done right with all the glass pulled, all the moldings and claddings painted off, the front and rear bumpers painted off, and jams cut in, as well as any minor damages, scratches or dings, including your peeling clear that would need to be sanded down and repaired, your talkin anywhere from the $3,000-4,000 range.

I didn't realize that it was so much. I might just forget the paint job and work on the engine mods. I found a 400hp rotary engine and am thinking about putting it in. As soon as I get enough money to replace the other things as well.

There are shops that will do if for less than $500... but you may as well buy a box of spray paint ...or magic marker... and do it yourself.

You can also sand down all the paint and go with a coat of primer like the old hotrodders used to do.

I have an 87 rx7. It's not the turbo but in the end my goal is to get it to run 13 flat in the quarter mile. We'll see. It's going to be a long process since I'm trying to buy a house right now as well.

Sand it down, primer it, and take it to Maaco for one of their cheap-o jobs. If you prepare the car yourself, the paint job doesn't come out too bad.
