After a couple of searches I have come to the conclusion that there has yet to be a general discussion on Paintball. Personally, I love it. I do it as much as my funds permit. I'm not hardcore, but I do love it. I would like to buy a gun, but I really just can't bring myself to it yet.

But anyway, this thread is for all to enjoy. Discuss whatever aspects of paintball you like/dislike etc, what your favourite gun is/was, anything. Also, if you're on a team, or have a sponsor, or have any great ideas, feel free to share. And I'm sure many members will enjoy reviews or thoughts about all the arenas any of you have visited.

I like: shooting people in the butt.
I dislike: being shot in the butt.

It's fun. Last time I went though I had a dodgy gun a few times which spoilt it, I also find it far too expensive to buy more paintballs, I end up running out and having to quit. :(

Paintball is brilliant but I've only been once, I really want to go again but transport and all my mates having cash simultaneousley is near impossible.

i have been doing it off and on for a little over 3 years. i would have to admit to being just average on a good day though. i like speed ball much more then woods ball.

There is an easy solution to that, buy your own gun. I reccomend the Smk Commando 1, its small, light, and hurts like hell.

Its also around £50-60, reasonably cheap for a paintball gun.

I'd go for a Tippmann any day of the week. They are the most well built markers I've ever had the delight of using. Spyder's and whatnot are faster than the Tippmann 98s, but everyone I know who has had one has had problems with their Spyders.

The 98 custom is a great marker i used one for over a year. its pretty near indestructable, very accurate, and will shoot most any paint. I have a spyder now (never had any problems with it). Ive done almost everything you can do to it sans nitrogen. Its an awesome marker. I bought all my stuff on ebay, i only have $160 in it but i added up the retail prices for the marker plus all upgrades and its nearly $500. i have a Dye Proto Switch EL mask w/ custom made fan, most comfortable mask i've ever owned (gotta love the quarter turn lens release). i suggest it to everone.

i love woods ball. That all me and my buds play.

Woods ball is more fun. It's cheaper too since you're not spraying 30 rounds per second. lol But it can be very bad for your equipment. That's why I love the Tippmann. No matter how hard I've hit it, dipped it in snow or mud, it still works perfect after a quick field cleaning via squegee or other tools! The only problem ever with the stock barrel is that if you use normal paintballs, they tend to splatter in cold weather. This is normal, though. I hear ceramic barrles can prevent such things. I'm not sure if this is true.

I'mg ettin a Diablo Wrath, gonna get a barrel kit, then a T-board. But before thsoe I'll be getting a Crossfire tank and a Revvy.

Yeah it does.

But that just means it hurts otehrs aswell. So unlike in lazer tge where people keep running at you no matter what, in PB they learn their lesson pretty quickly.

I used a 14" J&J ceramic barrel on my 98 custom its an awesome barrel, cleans itself out if you get a break. I never got a break with it though. i also had a 14" Taso Stonecold II it was nice too. My cousin has a 16" Stonecold II, it shoots very quiet. I have a 14" Smart parts progressive on my Spyder, very accurate.

That's my marker for now. It's the Autococker with Eclipse blade trigger shooting about 20 balls per second when my fingers are feeling frisky.

My team, Team Melee. I'm the old guy in the back but can keep up with these youngins any day of the week.

Nice to see another Paintball thread and thought I'd contribute what I've been up to the last two years. 👍

Well, I've officially got enough money for a Tippman 98 custom. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it though, because I haven't really been paintballing that much lately. I love it, but finding folks to go with me is becomming a problem, plus it costs my ass like $40 every time to go, it's ridiculous.

Well, that, or a new soundsystem (7.1).

Also, does anyone know if the Flatline barrel is any good? I've heard good and bad about it, but I'm not sure what the benefit of a backspin is.

Nice condom misnblu!

Oh man, its been so long. I think the last time was in 10th grade.

I no longer have my gun...We all kinda got out of it after our licenses came.

That depends on what type of paintball you'll be doing.
For woods play and trying to get that extra distance, would be good to have but at the expense of bouncing off of the opponent with too much distance.
With too much distance, the velocity of the paintball will slow it down enough to literaly bounce and once that happens, you'd better have a few more balls following that first. :dopey:
Tippman's are good markers and can be upgraded to your hearts desire.
Hold off on the Flatline system until you actually know you'll be playing enough to need it.
Good luck and thanks for noticing the condom. It's a Warped Sportz condom. 👍

I like your hopper too, how quick is the feed? And how many balls/second can you get up to?

It's an Empire Reloader B Hopper, similar to a Halo B hopper but with an upgraded board to give 24-28 balls per second rating. It can unload the hopper of 140 paintballs in less than 6 seconds.
It's also a forcefed hopper in which it forces the paintballs down into the breech of a paintball marker so that you don't have any chops or break paint from paintballs that just fall into the marker.
On the rate of fire of the Autococker, right now, I've got it set for 18-19 without paint but with the eye (which sees the paint in the breech and won't fire the marker unless it sees paint) in the on position, can shoot faster. It's too easy to shoot 15-20 balls per second with the combination and can set the 'Cocker up to be faster but why if most rules have a 15bps limit. :nervous:
To say it can shoot ropes of paint is an understatement.

I'll be upgrading next year to either the Smart Parts Shocker (pictured below and is our teams Captains new gat) or the Angel G7 by WDP which can shoot 30+bps with ease. By next year, the G7 will be much cheaper than the $1200 price it now sells for and hope for it to be about a grand.

Here's a pic of the Shocker.

Here's the Angel G7 that I want badly. 👍

Anyway, thanks for the compliments, enjoy your paintballing and I hope to get back onto the field very soon.
Hurrican Katrina just devastated our area and may be some time before we play or practice again. :indiff: :grumpy:
Always remember to shoot them first before they shoot you. :dopey:

I got myself a J&J 16" barrel for my Tippmann 98 this last weekend. I was amazed in every aspect of it. It's an unassuming barrel on the outside with a very basic matte black color and simple lines. But when I played with it (with a broken arm mind you!) I cleared half of the other team with it from across the field! These guys had some high-end gear, mostly speed ball stuff, but nonetheless formidable equipment. That very same game, one of my buds managed to get up around them and take out three people without even firing a shot! The last guy was also tagged from behind by my brother who also snuck up.

After the game I field-stripped the marker since I'd let someone else use it the first game--since my arm was broken--and looked in the barrel. It was like a mirror.... It was a pefect sparkling sheen in that darn thing, all 16 inches sparkling like it'd been waxed! I was amazed, absolutely astounded. Eventually, after about three games of woodsball I ad accumlated a little mud in the end of the barrel and the balls started flying a little weird and one did burst pre-emptively. It was very smooth and easy to clean, though. Afterwards, it only took a few more shots to bring that mirror like shine back.

I have no other upgrades but I'm thinking of getting an electric hopper. Nothing fancy, just one that will let me lay down some decent fire without the hopper jamming at the top of the feed. Sometimes when I run the balls at the top just cluster together and jam the feed of my gravity-style one.

The J&J barrels are awesome barrels and will do you a fine job of keeping the paintballs straight and true.
Nice review of the barrel and get that arm better. 👍

This also goes to show you that you don't have to have a high dollar, 20ball per second gat to play paintball. The old saying that it's the man behind the marker that makes a great paintball player ever more true.

Just recently we had a team practice in Pensacola Florida and were surprised how the couple of kids that were there with pump guns, taking ppl out left and right, including me.
Yup, again goes to show you that the skill is in the player and not the gun.
I have deep respect for the player that can handle his own against tournament players with a pump. 👍

Awesome review of the barrel RedWoodRacer and keep playing and showing those boys with the electronic gats that you can take them out easily.

Oh and if you're getting an electric hopper, spend the money on the Revvy with Xboard. This hopper was my first electric hopper and and was super reliable, can give you up to 12 ball per second rate or until you get a marker more capable of what it's capable. By far the best Hopper you can buy for the money.

Good luck with it.

I'm looking at pistols now. I'm a huge fan of how much more mobile and manoueverable they are, but they have some huge downsides--low CO2 capacity, and very low ball capacity (like 12). I quite like them for the short rounds where we're in a close-combat or residential scenario, it's so much easier to pop around a corner with 1 hand and pick someone off like that than it is to jump past the side firing madly and giving away your position.

Only problem is, noone sells them anymore because they're ancient! :(

I did find this, however:

You can still find the PGP pistols online if you know where to look.
Check out ActionVillage.com, PBReview.com, or the FONforums for some information on the PGP pistols.
They're out there and making a comeback.

Nice Tippman.
A5 makes it better and you can't beat a Tippman for durability.
I just hate the ergonomics of it and is why I bought a Spyder Shutter instead.
That's been awhile back though. :)

I do. I rest it on the back of my hand when I'm wearing gloves and use it as a sort of lever/bipod type thing. I also use it for peeking around corners and cover. It's kinda like in the new Rainbow 6 games where you can peek around corners. It's still possible to snipe and peek like this during a woodsball game. At first I hated the fore-grip design, but it grew on me and now I find it to be extremely useful.

Thanks for the recommendation, misnblu. I don't play too much what with school and general lack of funds, but when I do, it's a blast. I'll be sure to pick one of those up next time and save some money for extra paint. 👍

No problem at all.
Enjoy paintball and you don't need to have alot of paint or money to still enjoy the second most extreme sport in the world. 👍
