Ok so I'm doing heaps of stuff to my cam cover for the mounting of my COP ignition, but that you can read about in my thread. While I have it off I'm getting it sandblasted, and ultimately painted.

I was just going to go with the safe Black wrinkle paint, but as a couple of people have mentioned, it's a bit boring and would be no different from all the cars out there just slapped together with black paint. I obviously need a colour that goes with the colour of the car, and with all the blue hoses, etc within the engine bay. And it needs to look AWESOME

Not a whole lot will be visible under the Charge Cooler, but what does stick out is quite noticeable. I don't really want to go body colour either, I was hoping for a vibrant, but not ricey colour that ties it all in. I've included a picture, just imagine that the charge cooler is plumbed up properly, with blue silicone hosing, it's painted a fresh black and the heat shield on the turbo is also freshly painted black.

This thing also could get quite hot so I'm thinking I'll have to stay with heat proof paints?

My original idea was a deep purple, but I've been thinking of a teal colour too, but I think that would be too strong. Don't think I want blue. Anyway, thoughts?

I'm not sure. My first thought would be a bronze/gold or something as it'd go with the red. I'd be disinclined to go for blue because the hoses already don't match with the red bodywork so chucking more blue under there would start looking really odd.

My personal preference is black, silver, or the cars body colour.

Your engine bay doesn't have too much in the way of outlandish colours unless you want to go that way.

With my car I want to stick with red, black and silver theme. Possibly paint the valve cover wrinkle red but I think silver would go best.

Thanks for the input. Although I have made a decision:

I plan to be painting BOTH the cam cover and charge cooler the same colour now, which is something like this colour:

The Toyota symbol and writing from the top will be gone, I'm toying with the idea of some cool logo or design on top but no hurry for that.

I forgot to mention earlier that there will be gold foil insulation on the bottom of the charge cooler up the sides too, and on the engine bay side of the cold air shield. So that would clash I think with a gold cam cover. Also, a completely gold charge cooler would be too much, I think.

While the car colour would go nice, I think having the charge cooler the same colour would be too much, and I wanted it to be a dark colour. I really think that purple goes well with both the blue hoses, the gold insulation and the car's colour. Plus if I were to ever respray the car I would seriously consider going that colour.

Anyway here is a quick shot of how I've freshened up the turbo heat shield so that when it's all done it'll look shmick:
