I tried the cayman and was able to match my initial QT not sure I’m skilled enough to get anywhere close to Damien’s time (like within a second)

On to the racing, I did one this morning all fine as hadn’t set a QT finished 11th

Then did a daily A no QT 12th to 5th as all of us still getting to grips with the combo

Did my first proper race in C my QT time I 1/100th off Barney in the same sub meta/sister meta car. 1.31.1

Started P2 pitted lap 2 and came out in P6 but because I can’t see the track map I can’t judge pit gaps, got held up for 3 laps set purples on the penultimate and final lap but sadly not fastest lap, and brought home a respectable 2nd to 2nd race where had the spacing been better I think I could have won it.

I can only manage a 1.45, but it did put me P5 on the grid (P1 had a 1.40.xx!). Needless to say he won by miles, with a fastest lap 5 seconds faster than mine 🫤, but I managed a P3 šŸ™‚.

The winner was the only person without an SR down at the end of the race......

Like you @brockie, I had an ominous feeling when I realised I was the only C/S driver on a grid of B/B and B/C.

Think I'll stick with Brands this week.

I don’t have inclination towards B or C this week, potentially I’ll do some C at the weekend but I can’t fit in any race C in my lunch or before my morning run!

Race A is technical I think is the best word for it, I managed a 1.41.1xx already which is 184 in the world at the time of putting it and put me on pole for my race earlier tonight, finished 8th 🤣 I reckon unless you are away a fair bit you’re getting thumped on this track and clumsy people are going to frustrate the hell out of me this week,

But on we go 😁

I agree @brockie this will be an odd week for a lot of people, last week was also a little odd with LS and a pit stop it’s always polarising using LS and TM and still keeping TM only 4 laps the mind boggles.

I’ll probably flit between A and C as I have as I have said before zero interest in the Nurbs on GT7 for racing, other titles yes but I just don’t think GT style racing works there as well as others.

Also for A I tried CSA in a few laps and I don’t think it helps much.

So I pitted lap 1 in to 2 this time, a much better gap slotting in to 11th

Still held up a bit but was able to keep out of their battles.

Started P2 finished P1 with the fastest lap not a bad Monday.

Edit:

Everyone is free to race I think that’s a given unless it’s blue flags and even then the only have to drive their lines while being cognisant of other faster cars (the reality is most let the faster car through, but it’s not the rules per se)

But the only thing with the brands pit race is regardless of compound differences some times, you would think people would be aware enough to not get in the way of someone who’s already pitted and caught them? Maybe I’m wrong but I’m not racing them, in a couple of laps they are going to be 20s back?

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: A Thousand Ways

More new Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races are now available, beginning today and running for the next seven days and including a special tie-in event to mark this coming weekend’s Gran Turismo World Series live event...
Seeing all those tacky license plates in that photo is triggering me, LOL

That was a big problem last week.
Coming out from pits with fresh softs to encounter a backmarker who didnt pit yet and the dude decides to give battle braking late at every corner and almost parking the car at every apex.

Due to the lack of power in Gr.4 this is a real problem and It happened to me several times on the week with different people.

I don’t know what the answer is ā€œwhat is sportsmanshipā€ videos clearly don’t help and appreciating the position they are really fighting for doesn’t help either as I just think people see ā€œPxā€ rather than their net position when the stops shake out.

It’s not gonna be a popular thought but I am starting to think a lot of people have to focus so hard on being consistent/fast/keeping it on the track that their overall race thinking just doesn’t get a lot of time when they are trying so hard to be fast but it’s tunnel vision.

Race B... well I do love me some Nurburgring, but 1 lap?! Qualifying will be crucial if you want to get a decent result. I managed a 8:17:5XX in the Beemer and will take that to the track on Tuesday.

Managed to improve my QT to 1.52.861, but you won’t see this on the leaderboard because I managed to get myself a ban for 7 days, 😬

Alcohol fuelled and slightly embarrassing I have to say but it is what it is, further laments the fact that weekend racing on certain tracks/cars is doomed to disaster, I did manage to put some TT in and 4m credits should be on the way. Then I’ll do that on my account from Friday night next week.

Probably need to grow up but you know how it goes
do u get 7 days ban from GT? is its possible ?

Had a couple of wins in race A this morning, was pleasantly surprised by a lobby of DR C instead of A&A+ 😁

Got my QT down to 1.40.7xx and that’s 212 in the global, managed to avoid the punting attempts behind.

Can you guys tell me your QT times on A, if you have done it, particularly interested to see @kowalski__1 time, that’s usually the benchmark on my friend list 😁

I’m following the Holl01 time, the trick is to get the darn thing sliding around them corners

@Schiaramone it is possible when you’re an idiot like mate, hopefully I learned my lesson šŸ‘€ 😁

Loved running some race A last week, got a 1:13538 QT, clean, got some poles and two wins in the week. However good races were rare and the rest were like what Naxeht's video showed. It's the High Speed Ring not the Nurburgring and there's two and a half-ish braking zones, yet turn 2 was always an adventure. Still absolutely loved running at this classic track when the racing was good though. catching the banking feels a bit like carving a pool with a skate board.

Race C was the bigger draw for me especially with the Megane being an evolution of the Clio that I love so much. I love LSR as well, 13 years of going there while working at a vintage race shop and it's definitely like a home track. Had great pace for my DR level, got a final QT of 1:28.153, had ups and downs through the week while mostly getting my goal of top 7 finishes. This came with a huge surprise pole to flag win and another win from P2 later in the week. Most thrilling race was a P2 after enduring a stress sandwich being about 2 secs behind 1st and 2 secs ahead of 3rd for what seemed the whole race.

Very excited again for race C this wee as I have chickened out on running Brands Hatch before, another track I've come to love. Trying a different approach with no QT to start. I've become too paranoid of lap 1 punts and will ease my way into getting used to getting good race pace and experience here. I'm doing all DR racing under a n alt account which is just Jerry, but did set QTs with my main Harry Schell account. This Porsche-phile finally gets good use of the Cayman and thought I'd spend the week shaving tenths off a sweat for it lap 3.6 secs off the top time, instead knocked chunks off almost immediatley down to a 1:31.973.

Sorry for the mini novel, couldn't post last night, have a great week of racing everybody.

Nord has brought me back. 8:12.X after a couple laps had me pretty far down starting position during the races I did (like 7th/8th). Nord is one of those crazy tracks as some people can just nail that track, and those people may be much lower DR. First race out I started P7, finished P4 and lost DR.

But one lap is too short. There's time for two, OR do one lap in the pouring rain. PD have timed it so perfectly such the race is too short yet there's barely, if even, time to get in a qual lap between races.

Sadly i have to admit that I've been that guy.

Hopefully only once, but it was at this same combination and i found myself in front of an earlier pitter. Unbeknownst to me of course, his wild swerving and flashing lights weren't simply the maneuvres of a troll.

I think we've touched on the core issue here though, if everyone were driving with correct etiquette and aligning racecraft then this situation would set off more alarm bells. As it was, it just felt like another day sharing the track with a GT7 player.
