Does this work, or do I need AR2

Got my x-port 2day, and i tried to backup saves from memorycard.
USB error connecting to ps2
What is wrong...?

Got this from an FAQ at codejunkies.com

Q: I am getting an error "USB Error Connecting to PS2" when I am trying to transfer a save.
A: This error can occur for many reasons. First, please make sure before you are trying to transfer data to your memory card or Action Replay V2 that you have read the contents of the device by clicking on either the memory card or Action Replay button in the X-Port V2 PC interface. If you are still receiving this message try rebooting both your PC and PS2 and try again. If this fails to correct the problem the X-Port V2 drivers did not properly install on your PC. To correct this you will need to manually install the drivers for X-Port V2.

Please follow the instructions below to manually install the drivers:

1. Click START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL
2. Double click on "Add New Hardware"
3. When prompted select that you want to "select the Hardware from a list"
4. Select "Other Devices" from the list of hardware and then click Next
5. Click on the Have Disk button
6. Enter the letter for your CD-ROM drive (i.e. D:\) under the box to "copy manufacturers files from"
7. Select the "XLink Cable" and Click Next
8. When prompted click "Finish" and the restart your computer

I was having the same message for a while. My issue was the Sharkport disk wasn't booting up correctly each time. ie: PS2 wasn't reading the disk as compatible. After I finally bought a TV to put next to my PC & PS2, did I find out this issue. Now, I have to sometimes restart/reset my PS2, for the disk to read correctly, and I don't get the USB error message. Hope this makes sense.... !!!

To go back to your original post, PAL-GS2 Xport does it work. GS2 doesn't work with PAL, it is for NTSC. Assuming U got the European (PAL) version of the xport,. it should be working, and U don't need an AR2 to use it. When U put the disk in the PS2, are U getting the "waiting for command" screen on the TV? If U are, and U have done those other steps, I would think the problem is in the cable, or the usb ports. Try wiggling and changing ports. Lots of peole have trouble getting them to work,. but usually, once they do then they are fairly trouble frre.

Guess i got the NTSC version:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well... Just have 2 buy one more...:irked:

Try 2 get one shipped over from the uk's this time... not the us:)

I would think U would just need the software, but your best off asking the support people at Datel. Hopefully U can just order upgrade discs for a PAL xport.

If U do need to buy the whole thing, U can always sell that one on ebay, or maybe one of the members here will take it off your hands.
