If this comes out for PS3, I guarantee you that the freezing issues will not be fixed.

You "guarantee"? How can you do that? You have inside developer knowledge?

You can "bet" it's not fixed, or "don't think" it will be fixed, but "guarantee"! That makes no sense...

So far, there have been two PS3 patches and neither of them have addressed the freezing. This game-breaking bug should have been fixed day one. To make matters worse, EA/SMS have yet to comment at all regarding the PS3 freezing, acting as if the problem doesn't even exist.

EDIT: Just to let you all know, I may not be responding to any more posts for the next two weeks. Refer to signature.

Does anyone know if the PC/DLC is tied to the next patch release? The quote in the first post is regarding the PC DLC. If I understand correctly from the threads at nogrip, the second PC patch (and I would assume the third PS3 patch) were delayed as EA was prioritizing the PC DLC. Am I just missing a comment somewhere from Griff confirming that the patch will be released along with the PC DLC ?? I hope so - I've shelved S2U hoping that another patch might improve the lag. I really want to get into it again.....

NOTICE: Will be on vacation for two weeks, starting Saturday, 25/6/11. Expect little to no forum activity during that period.

Crikey your full of yourself :) I dont think you will be missed :) but have a good time. LOL

Offtopic: I don't think it's smart to post your vacation dates on the internet, along with a message suggesting you will be elsewhere...

Ontopic: Let's see what this new patch brings, I hope they fix a few cars and decrease the input lag a bit more. 👍

Shift 2 is a really great game for me but. Those freezes keeps me away from playing on higher classes :/ I hope this time this problem will gone for good.

Will not be posting for 20 minutes as I'm off to the shop.

You'll have to manage without me.

Anyway funny jokes or not, for all of us the fixing of the freeze issue is mandatory. They can let the game as is they just need to fix that.

Yes, the freezing is a game-breaker, I can live with not using the GT40 MkI or other cars. 👍

Please note that due to my presence being required elsewhere ( taking dogs for a walk ) the opperational functionality of this forum may be impaired . Normal service will resume A.S.A.P. In the meantime please try and cope as well as you can by yourselves .:lol::lol:

I hope a patch fixes the game for those having trouble.

PS. I'm going to the Rolex race and Nascar race at Road America, so I won't be posting the rest of the day!

Well ive retrieved my copy from the dustbin having read there is an update forthcoming.

I think autolog causes the freezes. I deleted the person off my autolog who had full records and haven't froze again aside from after race menus. If it still happens, just re-add them.

If people can't run the most exclusive and fast cars in tracks like Northschleife or Bathurst because of the freeze it's like they are not playing the real Shift 2, they are playing just a nice demo.

A broken product that needs to be fixed...let's wait for the next patch and see if the freezing issue is resolved.

I also think this is part of the problem for some people. Prior to the patch I was getting tons of lock ups too. On a hunch I just played the game off line (PS-3 version at the time).., and while playing off line I didn't have a single lock up. When I'd log back in to use the AutoLog feature.., the game started freezing again.

Wouldn't it be more of a PSN issue then, instead of Autolog? I remember Fallout 3 had a similar problem, whenever a PSN notification popped up (friends signing in/messages) it would crash. Staying offline was a good workaround until they finally fixed it.

It could be PSN issue, but I bet it has more to do with the EA servers that are being used. I've always had problems from time to time with any EA branded game.

Honestly I'm not very interested to the online stuff of this game I just want it does NOT freeze my console offline. Can somebody confirm you are not experiencing freezes when you are offline out from PSN?

The freezing is definitely not a PSN or autolog issue. I almost always play this game offline and the issue is just as common as it is online. I can't even get around the Ring one lap in any thing faster than a B class car. I haven't even played this game in like 2 weeks because of the frustration this causes. I have this great game just sitting on the shelf cause I'm sick of having to reset my PS. I know that some of the SMS guys visit this site so I hope they see this. I have been waiting for this issue to be resolved before I bought any of the DLC. But now, if it's not taken care of in the next patch, this game is getting traded in on something other than another EA game and SMS is losing a customer for life.

Well, hopefullly patch 1.03 will at least reduce the freezing. I sure would love to take a 2000+PI car around the nordshleife.

i had just a pair of freezes ( 5 max since april), all in game menu, never during races, never at the ring or another circuit. I can make the game freeze just chaning fastly body kit in tuning menu, 100% freeze. Ps3 80giga.

Just a quick reminder on what is in the next patch. The second PC patch will be included in the DLC they release on thursday. So fingers crossed we console suckers :ill: maybe get the patch too - at least you can clearly see from Griffs statements on NoGrip that some additional patch for the consoles was developed:

Major features implemented already for the second patch:

- Multi-player collision improvements (all platforms)
- Additional anti-alasing mode (MLAA).
- PC DLC support (Publisher driven release decision).
- Collision frame rate/stuttering improvements
- New 'Max' graphic options / improved shadow setting scaling.
- Harder AI setting (all platforms)
- Suspension animation graphics issues resolved (Caterham, Radical etc, all platforms)

So at least the collisions will finally be improved and the suspension animations will be corrected. The harder AI is obsolete, EA veto'd against that.
