Patch 1.11 wishlist

I would like them to turn the volume down on the upgrade transmissions. I am so reluctant to install one on any of my cars because I hate that high-pitched whine.

Is this not true to life, though? When you see in-car footage of stuff like Touring Cars, all you can hear is the gear-box whine.

Stronger severs, all this disconnection and freezing crap is driving me insane, track creation better : ie, more tracks to edit

I'm not convinced that it's the servers, it's much more likely to be the netcode. From what I can tell, it checks for the servers and, if it doesn't get a response, it tries again in a few minutes - but it doesn't do anything in the meantime. Even a "checking for connection" message would be nice...

unfortunately they really are that loud and annoying. but, to be realistic, the way these cars are driven in the game would most def require a race trans. they disperse heat much better and take pressure off the center of the splines making it stronger. the gear splines in a racing trans are set evenly in a one for one setup which creates a phenomenon known as meshing (the whine). in your normal trans, the splines would be set at an angle to decrease that sound. but that puts a lot of pressure on the center of the spline which under heavy use or dramatic tuning, would cause the spline to crack in half. end result is a catastrophic trans failure.

I hope the long wait means that they are working hard to fix a lot of things and not because of the move to Fukuoka. Anyway, no blame from me.

I appreciate the explanation. I didn't know all that, but I do know those transmissions make a whining sound. However, it's the volume of the whine that irritates me. It seems the engine, even with racing exhaust (ie straight pipes) is somehow a 3rd as loud as the transmission. That can not be accurate. It's certainly a horrid sound in the game. I would just like it turned down.

Funny thing is it is accurate but only sometimes, depending on the trans and where it is in the car.

youtube a racecar in action...its pretty accurate. but, i would also like volume options on many things such as exhaust. some car like the rx7 or italia with race exhaust are obnoxiously loud.

Realism comes into play here too. Can you turn down the exhaust volume on your car IRL?

no, not in that sense you cant. but you can install resonators to smooth/quiet the sound. though that would impede on performance slightly depending on the asperation or induction of the engine. then again, to piggyback on your "realism" statement, you would never be riding on the outside of the car to hear the lack of baffling either lol...(standard car), as i drive better sitting in cockpit view. but, i do like to see my beautiful cars from time to time.

true. a true MR or RR (not 4wd mr) will be much less noticable as they usually sit midship. the most common race car is FR based were the trans will sit in the "hump". PD was pretty accurate at simulating that difference. drive a ferrari then jump in a nissan with a race trans...big difference. sorry for getting off subject OP.

Well played on the camera view aspect of realism.

In that case, why not have the option to install resonators. And add a racing regulation section where you can select restrictions I.E decibel limit, aspiration etc so the resonators are actually useful to most.

If I remember correctly many modern supercars are fitted with throttle-controlled butterfly valves in the exhaust system, giving a much quieter exhaust note when you aren't giving it the beans. That's why I yawn whenever a Corvette drives past :P

What I want for the new update is:
-The Ability to choose if you want the race to start in standstill or rolling start (you can choose in online I don't understand why you can't in A-spec or Practice)
-Garage Button when in the practice mode so you don't have to go back
- The Ability to post replays to youtube or export them to your computer in a VIDEO Format instead of how you can export replays in the PS3 format
- The Ability to purchase items like helmets and gloves and outfits with the credits you earn from races instead of only earning helmets and outfits as prizes.

Is it driver controlled/adjustable though?

Jesus Christ, the sound of the Ferrari Enzo and 599 are absolutely appalling. The 599 was spot on in Prologue, and the Enzo was spot on in GTPSP, they both have the same engine, so should sound the same, and they do, but they don't sound anything like the real life counterparts. Give them back their soul for Christ's sake.

would be nice...but there are too many other more important thing to fix in the game first. its not that important to me.

lol...the enzo sounds like a damn humming bird. i cant remember what the 599 sounds like off the top of my head

i think it is computer controlled...i would assume it would work hand in hand with the vvt for proper backpressure at key points in the band. but i could be full of it too. some nissans have incorporated this.

Extending the leaderboards and having an option to remove single entries (70% of my Nurburgring lap times are race cars, street cars can't stand a chance)

Garage button in Practice mode

Selectable weather/time in Practice mode on eligible tracks

Improved exhaust sounds and the reduction of gear whine

Ability to save multiple setups of a car

The ability to reserve a car (maybe a maximum of 4) in the UCD if you currently don't have the Cr to obtain it

And new premiums and tracks via patch or DLC of course.

Okay, fair enough about the racing transmission whine. I guess it's a horrible sound that I'd have to deal with. So how about this:
An option to change just the rear-end of the drive train? Or to take a three-speed and add a 4th over-drive gear?

I guess it's not the sort of thing that would be in a downloadable update, but having the only options be standard, close gear, and fully custom... so all muscle cars are stuck either going 110mph top end (red line limited) or having that whining sound. Kind of a bummer.
Other ideas?

ya i always hated trying to set up a muscle car..just feels unnatural with what they give you. gt series has had those tranny options for a long time...maybe since gt1.

Well put!

Isn't nice to have only 1 setup available. And the weather should be easier, just select rain, snow, sun... :)

If nobody has asked for this I'd like to have something very simple that exists in online races but not in A or B-spec. Race results!!! It is shown just after you finish the race but not after credits and EXP points are collected. Additionally: where are the laptimes? They existed in GT1 but not in GT5? Why so many simple but useful things are missing from a 2010 game that existed back in 1997 from the same developer. If it isn't for hardware limitations (RAM?), I just don't get it...

As I've already written in another post they should have separated transmission tuning components into final drive and gearbox:

The gearbox section would have:
- Standard gearbox
- Close gears sports gearbox (with a longish first gear, and all other ones close together; 1 extra gear depending on the car, very slightly increased whine)
- Super close gears sports transmission (with a long first gear and all other ones very close together 1 or 2 extra gears depending on the car, very slightly whine)
- Racing sequential gearbox, fully customizable (fully customizable, 1 or 2 extra gears, full whine, slightly increased efficiency and faster gear changes)

The final drive section would have:
- Standard final drive
- Sports final drive set (a selection of 4 different final drive ratios, 2 shorter and 2 longer than stock)
- Semi-racing final drive set (a wider selection of 8 different final drive ratios)
- Racing final drive, fully customizable (including additional noise and efficiency)

And while they're at it, they could also expand the limited slip differential section, for example true 1-way LSDs, standard fixed setting LSDs, 100% locked differentials, etc. A fully customizable LSD should be expensive and a "last resort choice".

Multiple setups and a fix for the SL55 AMG rev counter... Shows half the revs now... kind of a let down...

Also I have to admit that the choice of gearboxes for the Musclecars is missing... Right now it's almost obligatory to get a fully customisable transmission, if you want your car to be even remotely competitive...

In the 1.11 patch,it can have more f1 cars,More Bentley cars and more Gt academy cars.(my opinion)

Cleaning up the UI to lessen load times, and move options to more convenient spots would help out. The game's not terribly friendly to navigate around.

Otherwise, if they're sill interested in the social aspect of the game, some method of managing leagues/teams/groups would be stellar. Everybody joins a group, race/practice times are posted along with requirements. Post race/practice replays, compare times, and message around. Maybe even supply methods for official race moderation.

All of them great suggestions. The gearbox whine is too loud and overpowering, I agree. Might be fine with surround systems but not with stereo speakers.
