I eagerly await for a new patch to improve the sound effects. as it is, the cars sound like blenders...the ferrari in particular. does anyone know when the new patch comes out?

I'm sick of photo mode already, I just cant play the game with the crappy sound effects.

Hmm.... Don't you think there are bigger issues? Maybe right it to Santa Clause and you can get it next year for Christmas? Add it to that wish list like everyone else. LOL.

In general I think the car sounds are much better than any previous iteration of GT, its the collision sounds that really need fixing (along with the AI). This would be such an easy fix and yet somehow all of PD's resources go towards B-spec instead...

I'd rather have more events, improved AI, more tracks, standard cars upgraded to premium, a patch to eliminate screen tearing (if that's at all possible) and a more user friendly menu system. The sounds are way down the bottom of my wish list.

So your saying you know how the car really sounds? I mean I thought PD put audio recorders inside the cars to create their sounds didn't they? I think thats how most game creators get their sounds...

And yet it doesn't sounds right. There seems to be a loop in the sound (maybe a memory issue limited by the console and media, after all there are more than 1000 cars).

That's the way I see it as well. There are bigger problems to solve. Personally I think they all sound great. I don't see why there are gripes about the sound to begin with. Its a game. No matter what they do, someone will always be like"blah blah don't sound like that". You play to race, not to hear the accuracy of the cars. I don't care if 1000+ cars sound is authentic to the tee.

There's bigger issues to be address ex...jaggies/shadows/screen tear/frame rate. I personally don't think sound can be improve w/ update patch. It's something we just will have to accept until GT6.

Sounds great through my pioneer hdmi reciever with 5.1 and 2x subs. My only gripe is the gearbox whine from the straight cut gears is too loud an option to adjust that noise or a engine volume noise adjuster would be ace!!

The game could have been a masterpiece, too sad were allready talking GT6 and about problems they could have easily sorted during the development of the game...

Sound... it's OK to me... but the sound of american cars ... I can't buy the idea that a Viper, a Saleen S7, a Corvette, a Ford GT, a Charger and Kaz knows how many more cars sound the same... Don't see a fix on that coming... sadly...:nervous:

About other issues... like the shadows/dust clouds/rain effects... I see those ones corrected... don't know when, but they will be... or should be... like someone said in this same forum "those razor edged shadows have no place in a HD racing videogame like GT5"...

Yeah PD could improve the sound, I'm surprised so much peoples in this thread seem to be disagreeing otherwise, titantium exhausts seem to ruin the sound of most cars too.

I thought the same of racing exhausts, until I watched some videos and realized that lots of race cars DO sound like that.

You think so? I've always gotten the impression that they sounded like vacuum cleaners. Been this way since GT2. Some are better than others, though. GT40, LFA, 787B to name a few.

Not sure if you knew this, but if you change from the standard pipes, the sound changes. You can get around this (if you care enough), by going to your garage and fitting the standard exhaust. Then, once you get into the race you can go to tuning and put the titanium or whatever you have back on, but the original note will remain. 👍

I don't see a 'patch' coming for this, it's too integral to the game, and would require WAY too much work.

But if we keep the pressure up (and PD get to hear games like Shift, that I believe got it right), maybe GT6 will finally pay some real attention to getting the sound more exciting. Good physics is a great thing. But so is great sound...

I hope they'll patch important things (like, game-breaking stuff) before they start spending time on the trivialities like tweaking engine sounds. The sounds are good enough as they are.

I think that all the premiums have their actual sound in-game.
The standards though, not so sure, I think many of them use the same sounds.

WTF is wrong with the sound? The engines sound how they should, a honda sounds like a honda, a viper sounds like a viper, a ferrari sounds like a ferrari, what do you want?

When using the bumper camera, some cars even sound almost the same. As there is a similar basic 'noise' used for different cars.

The premium cars sound different than the standard cars though. Premium cars sound much better, less computerized, less vaccuum cleaner.

The sounds are HORRIBLE!!! A corvette race car does not sound like a vacume cleaner, nor does a Bugatti Veyron. I hate the sounds in this game. Need for Speed: Shift, now that game has good sounds. What we need is sounds like that.

+1 👍

Maybe Shift wasn't dead on accurate either, but I'd rather have inaccurate sounds that were exciting than inaccurate sounds that sound dull and boring. :)

Really? You may take a look at this:

I doubt anything of this will get fixed. At least unless PD sends everyone an additional set of 256 MB RAM.

I can see that for the graphics, but surely, if RAM is being used for boring sounds, better sounds wouldn't take any more memory? They just need better recordings...

Only issue I really have with the sounds is in Cockpit View(which I only drive) Front engined cars in 5.1 throw the engine sound to the far right or left speaker depending on the driving positions so it sounds like the engine is out by the mirror not in the centre.

It's not about sound quality, the sound quality is pretty good. But the sounds them selves are horrid, I don't know if you've ever heard the C6-R race car in real life or in a video, but it sounds NOTHING like that, it pops and crackles on the over run, and it actually sounds like a V8, not a 4-cylinder Toyota... The same goes with the Veyron. It's 2 V8's put together, and when you put 2 V8's together it should be one hell of a sound, and in this game it just isn't.

To me the V8's all sound the same in this game, the same goes for the V6's. I just can't wait for Shift 2, I can bet you the sounds will be atleast twice as good, if not better...

I completely disagree.
1 - This game is about recreating the cars as good as possible. Next someone says he rather has more exciting versions of tracks than accurate tracks.
NFS and many other games are made for inaccurate excitement. Nothing agains NFS, but I love the fact that there is at least one PS3 game that takes a different approach.
2 - The fact that you can easily shift in GT5 just by listening to the sound of the engine is something that is very important to me. That part of accuracy is not always done well in other games. In some of the more 'exciting' games I even switch to auto because there is no good way of telling when exactly to shift.
It is very hard to make a sound that modulates well with user input (throttle, shifting). Most games ignore (part of) the user input to create a more exciting sound. They make use of longer samples that might or might not realisticly reflect the user input.
I'd rather go back to the sounds of GT4 than have that.

It is not that easy. A very good audio engine is needed to make good sounds modulate well over time.
Engine sounds are not like gunshots, which are triggered by one event (the shot). Engine sounds need to constantly change in ways that can't all be predicted, so you cannot use fixed recordings for it (that's the short version).

Did you read his post? Both games have inacurate sounds, would you rather exciting ones, or dull ones. If you can't tell when to shift in NFS: Shift, I suggest getting your hearing checked out mate

This is the second thread he made about this, so he's obviously not happy with what are the best sounds out of GT so far. The engines sound great if you ask me. Collision could use some improvement, but it's no biggie at all.
