Paying for downloadable content

Then wait and buy the complete GT5. You are playing Prologue.

Wait, this discussion is about DLC for prologue? That is even more stupid. This just shows some people are willing to pay for anything. And by that they are screwing the other guys over.

After rereading the thread I agree with yaywalter and Joey D

No game content for Prologue should cost money. Unless, when GT5 comes out, they release a $20 add-on that turns Prologue into GT5 Full. But that'd take up too much hard drive space. And why would Polyphony do that anyway when they know that we're all willing to pay $60 for GT5?

It depends on what it is, if I feel they should have had it in the game the begin with I won't bother but if something new and exciting then I will think about it and probably get it. It is very irritating when game companies think it's ok to not bother putting something in the game only to charge you for it later on. I mean games still are $60.

However, I see this is for GT5:P, which I won't buy content for since it's a demo. All things for Prologue should be offered to us for free since we are basically a big testing bed for PD and it's game.

I dont think they are going to charge for anything for prologue, but DLC for the full game would be ok to charge for as long as they dont put some out as soon as the games realesed.

Just what i was going to reply.

I wouldnt pay for DLC in Prologue, but the full game i would pay for car and track packs mainly cause its the full game and you know u will be playing it for a solid 4years or more and DLC is needed to keep it fresh for so long.

Like Ferrari Challenge did?

I hate it when game companies feel that they can have you pay $60 for their product and then charge you more money to get stuff that should have and probably could have easily been there in the first place. DLC should be at least a couple months after the release.

Depends on what it is really.

Custom paintjobs, I don't really have in interest in. However, if it is a track or car that I really want, then yeah, definitely.

I think custom paint, decals and body kits would, go well in GT5. It would let people have their own unique cars.

If anyone has played forza 2 online, and checked out the "buy used cars" from other users, you will see that people who have spent hours and hours of time on paintjobs and custom decals and such sell 200x the price of just a stock car.

That, in my personal eyes is just awesome! You can enjoy painting and customizing a car, and if you appreciate it, and buy it off the marketplace, the artist will earn some credits for his work. It was an awesome idea and concept of "expanding" the possiblities of the online network.

Sorry off topic. haha

But paying for DLC is acceptable to SOME extent.
What was in GT4 (cars/tracks) SHOULD be made available upon the release of GT5.
special tracks/cars like say.....topgear test track, yea i would pay for that, just not a rediculous price tag.

and for older cars from 1980-2000 should be included into the game aswell, GT4 had some, why should we pay more to get the "older" cars package?

I honestly just enjoy driving so many different cars, and i shouldn't be limited to only the "high-end" cars just to be competitive.

and thats another way of making cash instead of having to race for it all the time. An online auction, where the highest bidder gets the unique car that the original designer made. what do you guys think, I reckon that would be a cool addition.

I'll have no problem paying for downloadable content in GT5, as long as we get everything they have in the initial release.
Trying to sell us stuff that was held out of the original launch would just suck.

I won't mind buying a car set for the next years models that weren't available at launch & several months after launch get new tracks that weren't ready for launch.
I do not want to see new cars & tracks available for purchase the month after release!!
I'll buy new stuff but not stuff that should have been included at launch.

... And the online auction?...

Meh, I can see the attraction of customized cars but it's not that big of a deal to me, now guys with killer setups on a car I can't get to handle worth a crap might raise some interest.

An online auction would be cool mainly for tuning garages so it would encourage more people to make tunes and sell them like in forza were there's over 100 tuning garages.

This is my point. Online auctions would add a good element to the game, as a way of making money, instead of racing constantly to make extra money.
LIke the used car lot in GT4, but online.

I personally wouldn't spend hours on end painting and putting decals on a car, but from some of the artwork that forza2 had online, hell yea i'd buy some just cause they look so damn good.

i've seen someone replicate a da vinci painting on the hood of a car. and it was DAMN good. specially when someone has to create 100000 layers just to perfect the art.

Yeah, we had this discussion before. My opinion remains the same:

I'm happy to pay for GT5P & GT5, but I think that DLC that adds to GT5P's meager content (especially tracks) should be free.

I agree with that, but if there were cars made available, such as JGTC cars, then I would be quite happy to pay to download them.

But what about the guys that can't or won't buy the downloads?
They will be at a disadvantage when racing online by not having the "best or fastest" car.

Their loss. I said it earlier... every other racing game does things this way, and it works. Why does everyone assume that GT can't?

PD could impliment events for just JGTC cars for the people that want to download them. I think a few JGTC cars wouldn't cost much, probably around £1.50 for three cars. If guys don't want to buy the cars then there would be other events to satisfy them. If you mean that the guys that can't buy them because they don't have a credit card, then I think that Sony are going to be introducing the PSN payment/voucher cards in the near future.

I think there is an adequate selection of cars already in GT5P - there are lots of cars that I have not got around to driving yet. However, I think the track selection is not large enough, even based on the $40 "prologue" pricing.

well ive bought every car in the game so im kinda left with online racing and geting all golds, which is a verry slim chance for me, I would love dlc I know it isnt a full game and we cant exspect a shedload of cars, otherwise there would be no point into buying the full retail, I woudnt mind a few cars and a track evan if its not official just once every now and again since the actuall release is still a long way ahead

Theres certainly plenty of cars, but some special cars like JGTC cars would really lighten up the online side of things. I'm with you on the tracks. I would like to see some rally tracks and some rally cars also.

I Think we will almost certainly get a track and a car or two in the Autumn update.

I think Nurburgring is on the cards for the Autumn update, but the problem is that a three lap race will take around 20 minuets, so host quits will be a problem. PD have rectified it to an extent with the recent update, but it's still possible to DC using the PS button. PD need to introduce dedicated servers to stop that nonsence.

thats why Id rather like to see it with the private matches, gtp meetup etc

I don't have the means to buy DLC. And if I did, I wouldn't buy anything. These games are expensive enough. On pc, there are a lot of good and free mods (tracks, cars conversions/addons), so why should we pay if it is on the PS3?

I'd buy cars and tracks but none of that pointless GTTV stuff.

I'd prefer to buy cars individually than as packs, because you just know some of the packs will have predominantly cars you have no interest in at all and it would be a shame to buy a pack just so you could get one cool car.

Bottom line is.... I DEMAND NORDSCHLEIFE!
