The default setups in Shift 2 are very floaty however after you tighten the suspension you will enjoy some nice FFB. It wont be strong like iRacing / rfactor + real feel / gtr evo but it will be decent for a console-style racer.

Problem is in S2U sometimes you have to drive a car they give you-- this sucks in those rare cases cause you will be stuck with the high, default suspension

I am going to try all I can. Not just gpl.
Gtr2 won't work on windows 7. I installed a gtr demo and it said error it only works win98 - 2003. Didn't say vista or later. Ran as windows xp but still won't work. So I deleted it.

GTR2 does work on Windows 7, I have it and have no issues.

And HKS racer I am gonna go out a limb and assume you have only played freeware stuff? Not actually tried anything like iRacing?

I think the maximum he has driven was getting a free month of iRacing and only driving the base content.

Like the Slowstice etc. He should try stuff like the F1 car, LMP2, GT1 Vette etc then come back ;) I have a feeling his words would be different.

I even had a blast in the base cars. It's more about the racing than the car for me. Sure I would LOVE to have a GTR GT1, Audi R18, etc... But I would have to venture away from iRacing and into league racing which I just can't do I don't like being 100% constrained to a schedule.

Oh come on, you are ridiculous I never sayed Iracing isn't the top with realism, but you really need to stop acting like mentally retarded kids and notice physics is not everything for a good amount of users. Why people still playing rFactor GTR2 GTL ? Because it's fun, those games give us the freedom to do whatever we want, physics is not like Iracing but who cares? To me isn't that bad, better than consoles by a good amount and I'm cool with that. So assuming you have a brain and not BS inside your head there's no need to label things "crap" just because they are not like iracing.
I wonder what's the point of this forum, console racing games? If we think like you everone should be a complete fool playing GT5 Forza3 and 4 just because they are absolutely crap compared to Iracing. Grow up and learn some respect.

Incredible...
Nobody has hated on modders, we just said how it was and it was you who freaked out "acting like mentally retarded kids" as you so kindly put it.

If your a racer, racing is in your DNA then iRacing is the best option for you.
If you like cars then other games might fit your bill like GTR2, Rfactor other Simbin games etc.

It´s funny you tell me to grow up and show some respect...
You are that guy you know.

Excuse me? BS inside my head?

I labelled certain mods within rFactor and GTR etc as crap, because there is a lot of crap out there, go back and re read this entire thread before making baseless and very stupid posts based on what you assume people are saying.

Seriously go back and read this thread. Idiot.

After 5 pages you got it, congrats :dunce:

Seriously take a valium genius, somebody else labelled everything freeware as crap. Now go back playing Iracing or you wont reach the next class.
BIG difference. It´s all about quality really. Quality costs money, crap does not.

I think it´s more you that don´t get it. You started all this,

I wrote this,
+1

If you want pure racing, iRacing is the only option.
No other game comes close.

If you want to have fun.
GT5
GTR2
Rfactor
Race 07
etc.

Then you went on to hate on a game you don´t even know **** about.

Hampus said this before you starting being an idiot.

And for the record I have reached the top clas 👍

You was being an idiot at 80% then. And I wonder why they didn't call you to race in real life with that "top clas".

You actually don't get it do you? You are being deliberately stupid?

An idiot at 80%? Have you seen how many poor community mods there are out there? There is only a small number of genuinely good mods out there.

I suppose I did get the figure of 20% good mods wrong, its actually 10%.

If we use rFactorcentral.com as my base here. It has 357 currently released Car mods. Now it also has a hall of fame on that website for the best mods. It is based on community rating. Wanna know how many car mods made it to the halll of fame? 35. 35 out of 357.
Now i am aware there is probably more that are good but according to its own community only 35 out of 357 mods are must haves.
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/hall_of_fame.cfm?cat=Cars

Again I reiterate, I like rFactor and GTR2, I own boxed copies of each, I enjoy both thoroughly from time to time. Mainly for hot lapping but also for occasional online racing. With the HoF mods, the game is good fun as you have said it is. Play it with something below average and it can verge on unplayable.

Also, 45 tracks out of 1098 made it to the HoF.

Leave it, the guy clearly has other issues.

Please keep in mind a lot of people don't even vote at rFactorCentral. I know I never vote. Not to mention a lot of folks try to get their mods from other sources because rFactorCentral costs $$$ if you want to take full advantage of their services. I personally normally stick to VirtualR news postings, mod author sites for download links, etc 👍

So I am not sure how their HoF proves only 35 mods are any good? But even so 35+ mods that's a crap ton of cars. Let's not forget a top mod might include like 29+ cars (like Formula One 2010, etc). So 29 x 35 mods how many cars would that be-- over 1000? That's potentially a crap ton of content which re-enforces what I was saying you get a megaton of content for just $20 or whatever rFactor costs in the various regions. [edit] just checked that HoF link. Never actually even seen it before. It's missing a lot of high quality mods though in my opinion. I like SRT's Top Sim Cars list personally because it covers all the sims however rFactorCentral's HoF looks ok- it's just missing a lot of good stuff. Anyway my 1000 car estimate was off for their HoF, their top mods doesnt contain many of my favorites

Gpl is bad graphics in the demo, of course it's old. I got it to drive but no backwards. It was using my keyboard since I haven't connected my DFGT.

I installed rfactor demo too. Opened it and it said I have 60 minutes left. I didn't go past the first screen cus I didn't connect my DFGT.

I bought race Pro used for my xbox 360. It seems OK for $10. Sucks I can't drive all cars on all tracks. Seems as it only has 11 or 12 tracks and 49 cars or less but many being the same.

Hm, I never played base rFactor or the demos. I purchased it for the custom mods (such as F1 mods then branched out from there). If you wish to demo a PC sim I would recommend GTR Evolution. You can d/l it from Steam and play it at your leisure. It plays very well out-of-the-box. To fully experience rFactor you have to purchase it I'm guessing

[edit] Btw, this morning I just got done watching Rolex Grand Am racing series at Watkins Glen. iRacing has this series as well as V8 Supercars however the only criticism I would levy their way is they are still missing Holden cars. So for the full V8 Supercar experience I found myself drawn towards ORSM's V8 Supercars mod. Same deal with Rolex Grand Am Racing. iRacing does have the very nice Daytona Prototypes + Mustang but it's missing Mazda RX-8, Porche, etc. Not a super big deal because I know Porche licensing sucks and I respect every car they got is done superb from what I've experienced. But this is the advantage rFactor has over it- the community isn't bound by those restrictions and they will include these cars so you can experience it like you see on TV. But that's just a minor knock on iRacing and it's something I am sure they wish they could fix. They hold the official license to these series so I am hoping Holden cars will find their way to iRacing

Well gtr won't work on windows 7 for me. Says error it only works 98 se - 2003. So I dunno.

Is there a demo for gtre?

How would I connect my dfgt? Are there drivers somewhere or will windows 7 recognize it?

I'm very interested in trying tonight.

You are aware you have access to Google right? It's just that you have asked a few questions that could be solved with a quick Google search. Saving you and everyone else time.

Connected my dfgt and windows 7 did not recognize it. Installed software from the cd it came with. Wheel didn't work. It was not centered and was upside down almost. Could not turn it unless you turned hard. It thought the break was pushed down too even though it was not. I don't know what to do.

Can't open the gpl demo anymore. Double click and I get a black screen for a few seconds. Then it goes away.

Ran rfactor ok. Tried wheel but since it was so screwed I disconnected it and used my keyboard. Didn't read much. Steered by itself while I was gas and break. Kinda neat just to check it out. Stopped after 20 minutes or so. Re opened it and I guess I can't play it anymore as a demo.

I liked rfactor from what I saw. Bad graphics compared to today but not bad. I'm interested in trying it more but only after the dfgt works. No idea what to do.

Any thoughts!?

Yeah like I said before, I wouldn't bother with a demo for rFactor. The good high quality maps come from community like Eastern Creek, Com8's maps, etc. I think the base maps were aimed at directx 7 users (bottom of the barrel sort to speak). I'm not too sure cause I never really run base rFactor. I modded mine asap for Enduracers, v8Factor, etc

Below rFactor + ENB (HDR/Bloom) looks pretty good too me. These are pics I took myself on Targa Florio (go to the rFactor thread if anyone wants my palette I posted link there):

Below is a pic from Enduracers + Com8's Salzburgring

iRacing looks very darn good out of the box (not quite Shift 2 quality but very, very current and nice). rFactor might require some modding to get it more up to speed like ENB and a few high quality maps / cars

Btw, what issues did you see on your wheel exactly? I personally use a T500RS wheel. I think the major difference is that Logitech wheels need their FFB setting to be inverted (like -88 or something). You will have to goggle that one I guess. My wheel doesn't require inverted FFB. Beyond that, rFactor has an ini you set your wheel range.

When I connected my DFGT it did the auto calibration and ended up almost upside down. The wheel was all the way to the left and wouldn't turn freely. You had to turn hard then it just went back to the left. It thinks the break is pressed too even though it is not.

I have windows 7 64bit, and had no problem at all with the GTR demo. I tried it out about 3 weeks ago. As for the DFGT I'm not sure. I use a fanatec wheel, and I did have to install drivers for it.
